1955 g. housekeeping guide 4 a good wife

I was searching for internet brides just to see what was out there when I found this guide to being a good wife on goodwife.com While it sound like a dream for me, I can't believe there is any women who truly would follow this.

So far all I get is number three. The second and fifth last one's is outrageous.

From Housekeeping Monthly, 13 May, 1955.

  • Have dinner ready. Plan ahead, even the night before, to have a delicious meal ready on time for his return. This is a way of letting him know that you have be thinking about him and are concerned about his needs. Most men are hungry when they get home and the prospect of a good meal is part of the warm welcome needed.

  • Prepare yourself. Take 15 minutes to rest so you'll be refreshed when he arrives. Touch up your make-up, put a ribbon in your hair and be fresh-looking. He has just been with a lot of work-weary people.

  • Be a little gay and a little more interesting for him. His boring day may need a lift and one of your duties is to provide it.

  • Clear away the clutter. Make one last trip through the main part of the house just before your husband arrives. Run a dustcloth over the tables.

  • During the cooler months of the year you should prepare and light a fire for him to unwind by. Your husband will feel he has reached a haven of rest and order, and it will give you a lift too. After all, catering to his comfort will provide you with immense personal satisfaction.

  • Minimize all noise. At the time of his arrival, eliminate all noise of the washer, dryer or vacuum. Encourage the children to be quiet.

  • Be happy to see him.

  • Greet him with a warm smile and show sincerity in your desire to please him.

  • Listen to him. You may have a dozen important things to tell him, but the moment of his arrival is not the time. Let him talk first - remember, his topics of conversation are more important than yours.

  • Don't greet him with complaints and problems.

  • Don't complain if he's late for dinner or even if he stays out all night. Count this as minor compared to what he might have gone through at work.

  • Make him comfortable. Have him lean back in a comfortable chair or lie him down in the bedroom. Have a cool or warm drink ready for him.

  • Arrange his pillow and offer to take off his shoes. Speak in a low, soothing and pleasant voice.

  • Don't ask him questions about his actions or question his judgment or integrity. Remember, he is the master of the house and as such will always exercise his will with fairness and truthfulness. You have no right to question him.

  • A good wife always knows her place.

Fucked up neck and computer

My neck and my laptop broke today. All of sudden on both instances. Like the last time there was cold wind on my shoulder and I I was plumbing. It was exactly the same accept instead of wind it was a fan and instead of plumbing it was the shoulder machine at the gym. It had been resolve since I went to the chiropractor in january of 07. That is a long time and then now I can't look to the right again. Maybe I should go back.

So when I got home and checked my macbook pro - it had died. The sleep light stays lit and no screen internal or external. It had some other graphic card problems recently. I think it suffers from this:

This really sucks because I have a serious, serious product launch on monday morning. Thank god (e:jim) turned me onto svn and I have a mac I can work from at home. I made an appointment to try and get it fixed at the apple store but you all know how slow that can be if they don't have the part.

Suck on this martha stewart

Tonight after the gym I decided to cook my Cornish game hens. I
didn't have strings to tie the legs and after putting butter under the
skin it was kind of hangin open. I decided to tie the legs with
dandelion stems. How is that for going green?

On an unrelated note: on the way out of the lockerroom I walked in on
two hot, young, in shape lesbians making out. To bad it was wasted on
gay me and not some straight guy who dreams about that.

Eating Stingrays

It was such a weird texture. Not very flavored. Almost the
consitency of white fish but slightly like crab. It really didn't have
much flavor. It's a skate wing. They sell them at wegmans. This
wing was about $8.00. It was fried with garbanzo bean flower.

Philthy McNasty's

We went to Toronto on Thursday night to go dancing at circa. The club
was massive. I, however, am not compatible with rave mosh pots and
that's what happens when you pack like 5000 people in a club. Even if
it's massive with multiple floors. I managed to get myself on several
near fights and decided by 1:30 I had to get the he'll out before the
thugs on drugs were thoroughly drunk and angry.

Toronto seems so crowded to me now. So much so that I have no I
interrest in going back. It also seemed so dirty which I felt was
exemplified by the name of this bar. The air was foggy with dirty fog
(smog) most of the day.

Delish on elmwood - Italian nougat

I am pretty sure I wrote about these before but they are so good they
serve a second and solo journal entry. Do yourself a favor and go get
one. They even have chocolate covered ones.

Owl At The 24

When I got home from work tonight (e:terry) and (e:matthew) were outside looking at an owl outside the house in the tree. It was so tiny and fluffy and cute. I wanted to keep it as a pet. We couldn't take a photo with a flash because it would hurt its eyes, so here it is on the iphone. I think this is the first time I saw an owl in the city.

The Drexel

It's outside. If you want it - come get it. I am keeping track of the
cushions. If it is windy Ill bring it back in so the parts don't end
up all over the street.
