Dancing at Ohm again

After reading (e:djkgunz,46758) I went dancing at Ohm last night with (e:terry), (e:jim) and (e:james). It was so crowded as last week but I still had a good time. I decided I like their dance floor a lot when its not crowded. I also realzied I need to start wearing ear plugs if I want to be able to hear for a couple more years. I tried wearing my gym sneakers to see if they were comfortable to dance in. They seemed okay but I missed my regular shoes which made moving my legs trickier than usual because it felt unnatural.

The first dj, who I think is the guy who wrote on here the other day was fun to dance to as was the second dj. Then the third dj was playing trance, which I generally like, especially when it is live like Dharma Lab or all the Goa parties I would go to back in Germany but this guy played what always felt like built up and never really hit it for me.

Maybe we didn't stay long enough but at 1:30 we left for Cathode which was packed like I never saw it before. I think it has to do with winter. If you took all the people that usually sit on the patio and put them inside it would always be that crowded. The lack of patio in the winter just about halves the size of the bar.

Saw a lot of people I haven't seen in a long time including (e:chris)

This is an almond fantasy.

Paul's Pomeganite Sauce

After expirementing with mint and frash raspberry sauce the last two weekends, I decided to try making pomegranite sauce. I like pomegranites and I like making sauces so I decied to try and combine the two together. I totally made this recipe up so I am not promising anything but I like it. I like just making recipes up now.

First cut up and pull the gems out of the pomegranite. Watch out it stains really bad.
image

It is amazing just how many gems you get from one pomegranite.
image

Next step is to mash them all up in a big bowl (to catch slashes). It should make a lot of juice and seed mash. Don't worry if there is still some juice in the seeds, you will get it in the next step.
image

Pour the juice and seed mash through a fine strainer or cheesecloth. The stariner hsould be fine as long as the mesh is small because the seeds themselves are quite large. Then use a tool to smash it more to get out the remaining juice. If you were using a cheese cloth you could just twist it.
image

Heat in a pan on low. Add a bunch of sugar and cook it down.
image

When its just about done it will bubble like this and get a bit thicker. If you want it thicker keep adding sugar, but be careful not to go overboard and keep stirring it constantly, nothing is grosr than burnt sugar.
image

I decided to toss in a couple cloves to complete the flavor. I think it would be good served on poultry or perhaps over ice cream or cake - maybe even with white fish.

I will never be satisfied

So I went to the gym this evening to work out and post-workout visited the sauna where there were a bunch of super hot guys, a couple of which had similar body types but were totally ripped. I don't mean like sort of hot, they were so freakin' super hot - like the gardener guys from Desperate Housewives. Instead of feeling better after working out, I just felt crappy. Normally I would be turned on by such a beautiful view but instead I was nauseous with jealousy.

I kept telling myself maybe they were all shorter in stature as short people tend to look way more muscular. Its hard to tell when everyone is sitting down.

I am so not jealous of the dudes with 10 inch penises, or the super buff body builder types, both things I know I cannot be - but when it is someone of a similar body type but the target weight / muscle bulk I want to be, I just feel defeated - like that could be me.

It seems the crux for me is that I cannot seem to eat enough - that and the whole crohn's battle. Also from the sounds of what they were talking about they had jobs that involved physical labor. If only mental exercise could produce physical beauty the same way that physical exercise does - I would be so freakin "ripped" lol.

Its crazy. I remember thinking I would die to be 150, now I am 150 and I feel like I am even more unhappy than when I was 130. I feel like 175 would be better but then will 175 feel like 150. Is there no end to the cycle.

(e:Terry) says I just need to give it up.

Squid == cholestrol

Who knew that squid had so much cholestrol. The other day (e:enknot) and I ate the squid I bought at the local asian grocer (e:paul,46615) It was so freakin tasty. I used my time tested cinamon, clove, carrot, tomato paste, olive oil recipe (e:paul,40613)

Then I looked at the package and saw just how much cholestrol is in squid. 263mg per serving with 6 serving in the bag. I had 5 servings about. That means I got 1315mg of cholestrol. That cannot be good, does anyone know if this is the good or bad kind?

Giving Basra a Bath

Basra got his winter bath today. He was relatively clean to begin with. Its amazing how little a tortoise smells. Our previous home zoo always smelled so bad because of the freakin sugar gliders. I feel bad for basra that he had to live with them.

So stressed out about New York

In terms of the working for it part, I am very happy. Lots of stuff going on and its pretty fun right now. I love solving problems and right now I have a million little ones to solve which keeps it exciting.

So I was really into building my new wikimedia extensions when the cleaning guy came to me to say that he and his whole team are being laid off and have only a month left. Its so sad that they lay off the people for Christmas. He seemed so sad.

I overheard the older lady cleaning woman saying how the new jobs she looked at had no benefits. It made me think about what would happen to me if I lost my job and had no health insurance and now I am just sad. Seriously, I kind of feeling like crying and I know thats lame but it must be so devastating.

It also makes me think that the state job world is maybe not so secure after all. It makes me wonder if I should look for a federal job like terry. I mean if the feds go down its really over, right?

To make it even creepier of an evening at like 8:00PM someone came in our office area where I am the only person and shouted "everyone go home." Then they left before I could figure out who it was. I left right after and just finished my editing from home. It probably was just a co-worker but the moment had all the feeling of office shooting.

Speaking of which, the VPN we have is so great. Before I hated it because I didn't have a native mac client but it is so convenient to just be at work from anywhere.

Pictures
I was so busy I forgot to change my iphone so there are no pics to post. But you would have seen.
1. A squirrel's head I found on the street still bleeding. How on earth did that happen.
2. An ambulance on and vacant with the windows open and the keys in the ignition while the drivers smoozed with the gas station owner on Allen.
