Church Of The Ascension Driveway Drama Cont.

I can't believe this is still going on. All I want is for them to not drive on my property or to block my in the driveway.

Today I get a letter from their lawyer asking us to forward the letter to our lawyer. He didn't even get Terry's name right.

I love how it mentions "their driveway." It seems simple to me. Here is the property map. Notice their "driveway" is only 3.5 feet. Not wide enough for a car. Since then they have slowly added more stones to their grass, and just parked on the grass until it became drivewayish, but the skirt remains the same size.

When the previous owner bought the house in 2001, the church had an agreement with the new owner of the house to allow the church unobstructed access to the driveway to "provide ingress and egress from linwood avenue to the grantors remaining property." This makes it clear that their part of the skirt was not large enough.

The kicker is that "the reservation of rights shall not be covenant that runs with the land and does not bind all successors, heirs or assigns of grantee."

Well thats me. I bought the house from the guy with 2001 agreement in 2006. At that point there was no agreement, nor do I permit them to use my land or driveway for access. It would have been a different story if the people were not so rude and obnoxious, and did not do things like drive on my lawn, block me in, scream at me telling me they went have been here longer than I have, etc.

Bubbies Litchi Icecream Dessert

(E:lilho) bought these delicious litchi mochi ice cream treats for (e:matthew) for his birthday but he didn't like them for some reason. So I tried one and to me, they are the tastiest dessert ever.

The outside is a sweet chewy mochi with litchi ice cream inside. We got them at premier on Delaware and there are a bunch of other flavors.

It looks like an egg, has an egg like shell that you peel off, inside it's like a litchi with a tender coconut flavor and at the core is juice that is like a blend of coconut water and sweet litchi juice. Seriously, the nongu blows your mind. I once ate 30 of them one after the other on one vacation to my grandma's. I just couldn't stop. I was in nongue heaven... and then went to hang out that beach later that evening. I miss the beach.

My quest for static IP at home

I want a static IP at my house with minimum 5mbps upload. Why is this so damn difficult in 2011? Right now I am "live chatting" with a Time Warner agent. I thought maybe it would be better than talking to them on the phone. Each time I called I got a different answer with prices in all sorts of ridiculous ranges to, "they don't offer it at my location."

Them: Please provide you name
Me: Paul
Them: Thank you for providing your name.
Me: I want a static IP with a minimum of 5mbps upload speed. How much is that?
A MINUTE PASSES
Them: I understand you are an existing custome rof Time Warner Cable and would like to start a new account with static ip and Internet service at the same address. Is that correct.
Me: yes, that is what I said. It needs a minimum of 5mbps. How much does that cost.
A MINUTE PASSES
Me: Is this a difficult question?
Them: Sure I will be glad to assist you.
30 seconds go by
Them: May I have your zip code
Me: 14209-2204
Them: Thank you for providing your zip code
Them: May I know the service you are using with Time Warner.
Me: Why does it matter I want a separate account.
Me: Right now I have roadrunner home internet, but I really want a new separate account
3 MINUTES GO BY
Them: Thank you for the confirmation
Them: I would like to inform you that you can not set up two accounts at the same address.
Me: What is the cost of a static IP? You are making this exceedingly difficult.
Them: I would like to inform you that you need to contact our local Time Warner Cable Office in order to have information on the static IP. Please accept my apologies for the inconvenience caused. Would you like the number?
Me: yes
Them: You can contact our local Time Warner Cable Office at 716-558-3000 or 866-668-6044
Them: If you have just another moment, I would to ask a question or two about you situation to see whether we can make your servie even more enjoyable for your family. Will that be alright?
Me: The local number does not work. It keeps dying as soon as I dial it.
Them: I am sorry about your experience.

So I call the 866 number. Turns out that is also the wrong number for what I need. They transfer me to business class.

Finally I get an answer:

Buffalorising.com Compromised With Malware

Today when visiting Buffalorising via google I got this google warning saying it is serving malware. It appears to come from the third party content on the page. Advertisements, banners, etc. This is precisely why I don't trust 3rd party code. Its just opening you up to everything from keystroke recorders to malware.

The baristas make hot chocolates just for me - almost always different while avoiding the flavors I don't like (raspberry) and then we sit and chat, like unexpectedly dropping by a friend's house for a cuppa. There are currently four baristas - Brena (the owner), Kevin, Brittany, and Jon. Jon sings and plays guitar for me, trying out his new songs. Kevin and I talk about the art scene, his latest projects, and women. Brittany and I gossip and chatter about the neighborhood and school and change. I don't know Brena as well because she works in the mornings. Lots of interesting folks hang out there - lots of regulars so it's possible to develop friendships and random connections without really trying. Taza had a birthday party a month or so ago - it was so interesting to see folks out of context.

Sometimes I'm so busy that I can't schedule fun with friends (like this week... :-( no gaming, no bowling, no movies... ) and Taza gives me good social interaction without the pressure of scheduling.

Buying Shoes Online

Does anyone buy shoes online? I never do it as I am so picky about the fit of a shoe. That, and I find they very often don't have my size 13 (46). I was surfing the shoe sales over at gilt.com

and found these.

I freakin' love these shoes. Either one would make me happy but both are sold out and not available in my size anyways ;(

I get the feeling I would like a lot of Elia Maurizi shoes.

I seems impossible to believe they are $149 when the retail price is like $500-600. I just wish they had my size.

These last ones would be so nice if I lived somewhere that dry and clean instead wet and dirty. Imagine how disgusting they would be after one week of life in Buffalo. Imagine how nice they would look on white carpet.

Bound Feet Are Insane

I had heard of Chinese bound feet but never realized what exactly it was until I was watching this documentary about Albert Kahn

where they had some early 20th century film of women walking with bound feet.

So I looked it up on wikipedia

- I just could not believe how totally deforming it was. I thought it was just bound as in toes pulled together or prevented from growing. Instead it is totally broken and reshaped in many ways. It looks kind of like high heels shoes on the outside and kind of like a pig hoof.

It was generally an elder female member of the girl's family or a professional foot binder who carried out the initial breaking and ongoing binding of the feet. This was considered preferable to having the mother do it, as she might have been sympathetic to her daughter's pain and less willing to keep the bindings tight. A professional foot binder would ignore the girl's cries and would continue to bind her feet as tightly as possible. Professional foot binders would also tend to be more extreme in the initial breaking of the feet, sometimes breaking each of the toes in two or three separate places, and even completely dislocating the toes to allow them to be pressed under and bound more tightly. This would cause the girl to suffer from devastating foot pain, but her feet were more likely to achieve the 7 cm (3 in) ideal. The girl was not allowed to rest after her feet had been bound; however much pain she was suffering, she was required to walk on her broken and bound feet, so that her own body weight would help press and crush her feet into the desired shape.

I took this picture from the wiki article references above. It seems hard to imagine this.

St. Patrick's Day 2011

I actually had a great time at the parade. I didn't drink too much, stayed out of fights, and cheered for union workers along side my best friends and a good looking navyman.

The corner of Allen and Delaware was a freakin madhouse. The warm years always are.

Out of all the pics, I think the picture of some random pile of puke and beads in the street really sums up the holiday.

Cant really tell if it was fat tues or st patties.....well unless you inspected close enough to find the ingredients for shepards pie :P The best thing was not even 50 paces away on the ground was the guy who most likely deposited his beads and lunch. He was being picked up by a friend who had blood just pouring from above his eye. That has to be one hell of a story.
