Buffalo Botanical Gardens

I love going to the buffalo botanical gardens on a sunny winter day. Its so nice to feel the rays on your face in the Cactus room and the humidity in the rest of it.

I signed up for another membership last time. I gotta get back soon because the ponderosa lemon tree is starting to blume. I think that might be my favorite smell in the world.

Ortiz Tuna at Wegman's

For some reason our Wegmans on Amherst St in the city went from having Ortiz brand tuna in two separate areas to not having it at all.

Luckily, my new favorite Wegmans in West Seneca had it in all three varieties. I love the one in the glass jar so much.

The one in the box is actually the tastiest but I am convinced that its extra delicious fattiness makes it higher in mercury content. Not that I am too worried about that after my mercury test turned up nothing crazy.

Cleaning out the kitchen

Cleaning of the kitchen I threw out anything I hadn't used in a year, anything I had a better version of, and any food that expired.

Six garbage bags later I feel much better about the state of the kitchen. We were borderline girders with all the crap that was stacking up.

Emptying the jello boxes for recycling I noticed sugar free jello is practically an empty box. Why don't they adjust the box size for that.

(e:tinypliny). I have both a food processor and wand blender that ate slated for trash. Want either of them? There are also two forms of popcorn Popper if anyone is interested.

In terms of the box size I bet if they make all the boxes the same size it is most cost effective you could use the same box for both products... Of course that assumes they do all the printing and art work in house as opposed to some other company doing it but it still might be cheaper.. But what I'm guessing is the real reason is a smaller box would be less text and less pretty pictures on the outside.... Also if other companies (do they make no name Jello?) have the same size box a smaller box might not get noticed on the shelf..... Again these are all just guesses......

For me the best way to make popcorn is with oil on the stove. I really don't think the tbsp of oil is that excessive and it means not needing to have an extra appliances

But I do know of someone that might make good use of both the wand blender and the food processor. It my department-mate who started all the debate because he apparently makes do with one blunt knife in his kitchen. I was appalled when he said that. I could take them from you and give it to him if you are sure that you are getting rid of them.

I would be interested in trying out both the popcorn poppers though. I am still trying to find the best way of popping plain corn without any butter or oil. I have tried stovetop - too messy, microwave bowl - iffy plastic, paper bags in microwave - eh...

my new salmon board from neo

(E:matthew) also got my this awesome silver and wood salmon service from Neo on elmwood. That store has a lot of cool atuff if you are looking for gifts and aren't aure what to get.

I love the look of Silver and wood together. It makes want those fancy eye glasses I didn't buy last year.

The wrapping is so cute. The lighting sucks so its hard to tell but there is a little furry buffalo in it.

Exlusively Alaskan Good Crab Legs Part 2

As part of my birthday surprises (e:matthew) and (e:terry) headed back down to Exclusively Alaskan Good in Eden (e:paul,53138). Its so amazing to have such a great source of fresh Alaskan sea food close to home.

Its hard to believe but I think we got thicker crab legs than last time (e:paul,53149) and you know they say its the girth, not the length that matters anyways with king crab.

They also got some delicious looking salmon, halibut cheeks and elk steaks. I will take a picture of those when I cook them.

Objective C and XCode Suck

First of all my nook color is going to bankrupt me. The ability to have every computer book on one convenient, internet accessible package is overwhelming. Especially when they use such sneaky tactics as sending me an email saying, "Its snowy out, wouldn't you like to get a new book for your nook without having to leave the house."

Anyways, the point of this is that I got an objective C book so that I couldn't finally spend some time on it and it does in fact suck. For me, its simply too verbose and the NS (NextStep), camel case bullshit kills it.

That plus Xcode is so freakin awful. I thought an apple designed IDE would be refreshingly better. Turns out not to be the case. It makes me miss eclipse. Apple seems to be losing it to me anyways. Just look at the non standard interface for the new app store and the new itunes. I think the only reason they are generally successful with design is they cut out features until there are very few things to add to the design. Of course its easy to have a clean interface on something that only has a few options. I guess Xcode is an example of what they do with a larger, complicated application..

Xcode gets to the point where you have ~10 windows all open and even have to drag between them to accomplish stuff. And yes, I can remember all the keyboard shortcuts to bring the different parts I want to the front but its still a cluttered mess.

Enough with Xcode, this was supposed to be about objective C.
