Nook Development
I discovered they do have their own nook SDK which is nice but on the shitty side it only works with their nook emulator so far. This is cool if you don't have a nook but not so cool if you do. I remember from the estrip app. Testing on the Nexus One was so much better than on the stupid emulator. Its just not the same trying to get a feel for it. Luckily, a rooted nook will let me put apps on it for testing but its annoying and a hack.
I wish so bad that B&N would just allow the regular android store. Having it on my rooted nook is incredible. It makes the device so damn useful that I can't put it down. In fact I love typing on it with the new gingerbread keyboard I downloaded.
I mean, I get why they don't want it. I am sure they are terrified of people using the kindle app on it and buying book from amazon instead. They shouldn't have too much to worry about because the reading experience on the native nook app is so much better than with the Kindle app. For example, kindle won't let me pinch and zoom on my books. Plus the notetaking and sharing quotes, lending feature, etc.
I can't wait for them to open up whatever market they are going to open. I would love to get in on it but it seems like they are really playing up to the big company devs more than the small guy. Reading through the forum this is pissing off a lot of developers who feel they if they are going to be treated as second class devs, they might as well develop for the ipad's larger market.
Well, anyways, here is hoping that whatever it is I end up developing finds its way into the store when its done and they I stay dedicated to working on it without knowing for sure if it will. Its just so hard to be motivated for something that might just turned down at the last stage. That's exactly why I never developed the estrip app for iphone.

warm weather
All of the the snow melted, not that there was much ti begin with, revealing all the cigarette butts people threw into the snow on Hertel. Why do people think it is okay to throw small peices of fiberglass everywhere? I think somehow they think that because it is wrapped in paper it is natural.
We should just illegalize filtered cigarettes. Either go hardcore and be litter free or quit. It's not like those filters really protect anyone anyways.

New years eve 2011
- The tabletstravaganza on the couch with (e:Heidi) and (e:Chris). I was nervous at firs that I would regret the nook when I saw the other android tablets but instead it reenforced my feelings that t was the best electronics purchase I ever made. The bigger ones were too heavy and big. The screens were also crappy for reading which is what I care about most. The windows 7 one almost seemed like a joke. The interface was lame. For example, when you pressed an input to type, instead of Beijing up the keyboard a you would expect, it brought up a keyboard icon that you! have to press to bringup the keyboard. It was so freaking frustrating. Plus just imagineho slow it would get over time running windows.
- discussing enlightenment linux desktop with (e:uncutsanifkush). Too bad Tim was gone at that point.
- dealing with Geoffrey's supposed Volvo car robbery this morning. Turned out it was parked a couple blocks away and he forgot, but not before an hour long freakout. I used that time to clean the kitchen.
- meeting Eric's friend Lara. I wish I got to talk with her some more.
- Drinking the pink nuvo stuff that (e:metalpeter) brought.
- Realized that we did in fact have a snookie of our very own, she just needed a little mike plus tumeric and paprika rub skin treatment and hairspray. She accompanied ball drop.
- Droping the lit up ball down the stairwell, it is my very favorite part of new years. Next year I am going to make it crazier. Maybe a countdown clock or drop it off the roof.

Nexus 1 froyo 2.2 vs rooted nook with 2.1 eclair speed
Games like angry birds seem snappy as can be. I guess for the stuff I do with it speed doesn't matter and if I could trade some speed for battery life it seems perfectly worth it and typing on it is fantastic. This is definitely the perfect size for me.
I signed up for a dev account today. I am so curious how you are supposed to distribute apps considering there is no normal android market yet. The official specs are in this ::READ PDF::

Nook Color
I didn't want an ipad because they are just too darn freakin big and heavy. For me 7 inches is enough. Plus my phone already acts as a mobile hotspot, has a GPS, camera etc ad this thing wa only $248 vs $400-$600 with the ipad. I was a little torn between the nook color and the older monochrome e-ink readers like the regular nook or the kindle that have much mire amazing battery life.
In fact I argued with (e:enknot) about this one night for a while and I still feel like e-ink is easier to read but I like that the device doubles as a larger screen web browser. It also does music, pandora etc and being that it is actually android based I should be able to get the kindle app on here as well at some point.
Supposedly it works with the epub books from the library. I found it interesting that books really get checked out from the library meaning that so ebook (e:terry) wanted was checked out by someone else therefore not available.
I wrote a whole surebert suite for publishing ebooks in epub format. That will soon allow me to release a new feature for estrip were you can download your entire journal as one big ebook for safe keeping. The format is quite interesting. It is basically a zip file with a manifest anda bunch of related media and xhtml files.
So typing on this size screen is perfect? I can almost type a fast as if this were a real keyboard.
Oh one last thing is that magazines are freakin cheap like $1-$2/month but I couldn't find the linux magazines I wanted yet.

Christmas Eve
The kids were so excited about the whole process.
My little cousin loves to dress as Batman so my mom made my dad a superhero cape outfit to surprise him.

Barnes And Nobles Continued
Today's experience was even worse. I wanted to get my brother an egift card but I didn't order it earlier because I didn't want it sent to his email until it was time for him to open gifts today.
So just before we opened gifts I ordered his egift online gift card on their site. It said they had instant delivery. It basically just sends an a link to the recipients email so that makes sense but right now it says it will not ship until Dec 30th. Although, it is instant delivery once it ships. That makes no freakin sense. How can it need to wait that long. I purchased it with a credit card I had on file so it really makes no sense.
