Waiting isn't so bad
I think that is changing as people start to multitask their wait times. How do you best do that? With a smart phone. (e:enknot) and I were talking about this the other day in the context of red lights. I used to hate waiting at red lights, since I got a smart phone back in 2003 I find myself not dreading it as much and sometimes actually hoping for a red light because I know I can fill the free time checking the weather, my mail, writing a blog, reading google news, seeing if any problems happend at work, text my brother to see if he is hungry, etc. Same with doctor's offices, a line at the store, etc. I know I probably should not mention texting and driving as it is illegal but, on the other hand, you are practically parked at red light.
Anyways, I just don't mind waiting as much anymore. I think the key to happy waiting is having a device that can distract you from the waiting itself. On the other hand it sometimes starts to feel like you have no downtime, but I was never very good at downtime anyways.

Behind the new, former casino
I had never really walked this way before but its pretty doable. We had to go on down to Ohio st to go over the Buffalo river. I wish they had a bridge at Michigan St.
The yummy lucky charms smell from the General Mills factory is so overwhelming at this close proximity. You could actually taste it in the air.

Dear Church of the Ascension 2
The people parking can't even figure out how to maximize the space they have. Like how is the black car going to get out.
Here you get to find out how.
If you really don't think parking on the grass is an issue, why don't you park on your giant parking lot on North Street?
Another one just did the same thing, but even worse. When we had multiple cars we would just move so the other person could get out. Instead, they do this.

Three more windows complete
Its really coming around. In one more year I think the outside might be done.
Well, minus a new brick driveway and wall blocking off the church.

Honestly, I have never felt waiting was a annoyance unless I am dreadfully late for something and the wait is causing even more delay. But then it's squarely my fault to begin with. Somehow it only ever happens in Greyhound terminals when I rush in last minute to get tickets to NYC or Rochester. I have tried to get past this by not taking Greyhound for the last 4 trips. I am then forced to buy tickets online (for Megabus or Amtrak) and then there is no waiting involved.
In most of the other places, I spend the wait time scrutinizing people's dresses, shoes, speech and mannerisms. Sometimes its fun to make people slightly uncomfortable by staring at them too long. :-)
Sorry that Red Light is a bad example and it shows a certain type of perception that I'm not sure what it is. Sitting at a Red Light isn't waiting. People sometimes back up by mistake or don't break soon enough or turn into you. Or if it turns green will hit you. Sitting at a red light one should be ready and in the go position it isn't time to check anything other then directions.
Waiting in lines is tough. Ever been to an amusement park when it is busy. You think that you are doing ok then the line moves up and you hit the half hour sign, argh.........
What the video doesn't touch on is that instant gratifaction causes ADD. Yes for some they do have it on there own. But if you get everything right away, then when you have to wait you do something else, you will get used to doing one thing and then another and I do think it does cause ADD. Just like I think watching to much TV or fliping channels can.
Our Society is go go go, and that is good but there are some negatives to that as well.
I don't have a problem waiting. But what I do have trouble with is waiting for longer then things should take. Computer download up load. If it should take 5 minutes that is fine but at about 7 then it is taking to long. Fast food is a great example, I love Burger King, McDonalds and Wendy's but long line or moving slow it is no fun.......
That being said there is some waiting that can be fun (not that I do it). Camping out for tickets (tents and food and beer or what ever) or even ipad or what ever device. In there the fun is the how you wait. Or how about being in line for a concert or Henry Rollins and (he even said this) often the anticapation of how good something will be is better then the event its self.......... At Somepoint you just can't wait anymore and you get jumpy.......
good post though very good post
