Okay this may read as rant like because I am really annoyed right now. I went to myspace to read their privacy policy after reading (e:alison)'s myspace excitement [inlink]alison,99[/inlink] and "Robby" some random guy's profile located in the "cool new people" section crashed my browser in the middle of this entry. It hung for about 30 minutes after which I gave me control back. But not before I had completely re-written this text. I don't know if I hate the Mac or the myspace of both.

So now how is this related? Finally, I will have the funds, what the hell should I do with the site. Part of me is pro-expansion. The side of me that wants to add more features (mobile especially) and get a lot more Buffalonians in here talking about life in Buffalo, to try and work with other groups like Artvoice and Buffalo Rising, and to generally advertise and reach out to a larger audience. The other side of me that asks at what point does it become something anonymous like friendster, and myspace. Basically a tool that is used to get a date or to shop around the sex circuit. Does it happen at 500 or 1500 or 3000?

I was speaking to (e:shawnr) the other day and he helped me realize that the reason I am uninterested in those communities is because of the fact that they are all centered around hooking up and I am already taken -twice over. He has the same issue as he is married. Like how many people do you know that are dating seriously but are really into craig's list friends, myspace or friendster. It just loses it's draw.

Not to mention that it drives me crazy that all of those type of communities are like a front end for data mining and selling that data to marketers. How does everyone forget that. I mean it isn't like I am selling people's personal data to marketers and I am not looking for a date, so there is no advantage to the creation of that type of community.

Won't it be weird when we start having MyBabies (coined by Paul Visco 11/2005), children born out of a myspace hookups. The implications of all of this online social networking is overwhelming. Maybe I am just bitter because I lost my best online friend to craig's list and myspace. I can't wait until she gets a partner and settles down.

I guess I am just afraid (e:strip) will turn into the online old pink and that was never my intention. So where was I going with this. What should I do with the site? What is (e:strip) v4? Maybe it will just stay like this forever.

I am going to vote for Judy tonight. As always I am going to vote for who I believe in rather than against the person I want least. I remember when I was a kid that my parents would never tell me who they voted for. Somehow that confused me and lead me to become a staunch republican as a child. I had no idea what it meant. I just liked the elephant tie clip someone got me and I was mesmerized by Ronald Reagan. As an adult, I know my parents were/are not republicans.

I was checking out an Indian site refering to the release of the new Microsoft Products today when I saw this advertisement.

I spent the day as a Taxi for (e:lilho) and and (e:terry). It gave me an excuse to spend the day borders surfing through math and computer books. I ended up spending another $90 on computer books. Some more javascript - I think I may know it all now, a ruby on rails book, and a trigonometry book just for fun.

I felt like sucj an idiot in the math section because before I found the remedial books I was in the math theory section and I could not understand anything. Math is my weak point. Not because I am not capable but because I never tried.

We went to (MAP TO: GOODLEBERG) goodleberg cemetary [inlink]matthew,665[/inlink] to visit the dead children. It was much smaller than I expected it to be. Maybe we didn't see the whole thing. It was very stormy out. In fact the ghost children saved our lives by stalling us an extra minute while a giant tree fell in the path the car would have taken.

(e:mike), I am so sorry I had no idea that you had to drive (e:ladycroft) to Hamburg or I would have never volunteered you as you had to work at 8am. I thought she just had to get back to Canisius - I guess I didn't pay enough attention to the situation.

I decided to take advantage of the slow shutter speed on my phone and captured some nice paintings of evening in the City. It is exciting to strip a picture of its meaning.

So I have been thinking a lot about how I don't need 3,000 lbs of steel to propel my less than 200 body to work only about 10 blocks away. It's actually totally ridiculous seeing as I could get there on way less energy. I want an elecrtic mini car contraption thing. Toyota is coming out with these i-unit mobile things. I want to build one. I think it may turn into a hobby.

WHy are some companies crunching them up?

I went over to Forest Lawn Cemetery with (e:Matthew) so he could take pictures for his journal [inlink]matthew,662[/inlink]. While we were there Katie found us at the Lake.

I cannot believe how many pictures my phones holds. At 640x480 resolution, it can hold 11666 pics. At 1152x768 it can hold 2,400 pics. That seems amazing and the quality is not too shabby. I still am ready to trad eit in for one with a keyboard. Maybe not trade but I wouldn't mind having a second phone with a keyboard. I could just share one account.











This person is from Maine but they love Buffalo. I thought that it was a nice shoutout for our home city.

So as some of you probably remember I was so stressed out when I found out that Erik, the new Prof at Canisius, did not have his MFA, something that I was told was a pre-requisite for the job and I spent tens of thousands of dollars and 3 years working non-stop on at their request. When he told me he didn't have one, I was seriously blown away as it seems like every school in the country expects an MFA for any art teacher. Either an MFA or a PHD. I guess Canisius doesn't have very high education standards, they care more about business. I suppose that should have been obvious considering the blunder with Mr. Wolfe a couple years back. He seriously had no idea what he was talking about. THere was even a point when students filed a petition to have him removed.

The final straw was at the faculty meeting last week when the new fantasy full time lab director position got pushed back from spring 2006 to fall 2006. It really made me lose hope. I mean I gave them five years of my all and I just wanted a full-time job with health insurance. Considering that education cost about ~30,000 a year for full tuition/dorm students I can't believe that they are too poor.

Reading my journal about the sadness concerning the sitution [inlink]paul,3909[/inlink] prompted (e:nicholas) to bring me a newpaper clipping with jobs [inlink]paul,3910[/inlink] , which lead to the interview, which lead to the job. Thank you nick, you will have a special place in my world forever.

I barely slept last night because it was all I could think about. When I woke up at 9am, which I better get used to fast, I called and found out I did in fact get the job. I am so excited because the job itself sounds really fun, not to mention that it pays really well and includes health insurance, which everyone knows was my pre-requisite for a job.
