The backyard in Summer

It gets better every year. I realized just how much I love our rustic backyard in the middle of the city during our BBQ party last night.

This is the same party I did a one handed cartwheel while holding a full size axe and chopping wood as dared by (e:Mike). I wonder if the dare had to do with his name on my insurance policy. The axe provided a lot of entertainment. (E:samathon1986) hit one log straight in half with the ax. So did (e:Terry)'s friend pat.

Partway through the party the grill died. Seemed like a disaster. Then I took over the grill and it worked leading to some pretty delicious grilled shrimp and pineapple.

Dear Annoying Nameless

I spent like 10 hours deleting you from my life. I would have responded to your messages but you had deleted your email out.

As requested, I removed your name anywhere I ever mentioned you, I deleted your freaking account as requested after you deleted all of your journals. I also asked the two other people that used your first name to remove it. I even blurred your face out of photos that had other people in them.

Anything else remaining on the internet is your problem - the google cache should clean up over time, although I can't speak for anything people posted elsewhere or cached elsewhere. e.g. what the people that you said already found out about your "scandalous past" have done with the "incriminating photos," lol. I can't even believe you think drinking a beer in a low cut hoodie showing cleavage is scandalous. I don't envy you having to live up to the puritanical expectation of having a completely vanilla past when you were in college.

I wish you the great success keeping your future as sanitized as your past. Please don't ever talk to me again.

Not to pick sides but I think for some reason she had concerns about (e:strip) and who saw her but not on other social networking sites but not sure.... She does have a right to privacy.... But you don't need to delete anything you just put all the posts to private aka unseen and unless you are the one running the site or gets access to it you are fine........

I saw my friend Liz that I grew up with. Its so weird seeing someone after such a long time. She couldn't believe I was a computer programmer and I wasn't on facebook.

I love Fedora 15

I don't feel like enough people thank the Gnome 3 and Fedora team for what they do. This release is nothing but awesome. I don't care what the people who are not ready to give up gnome 2 say. The workflow of this new interface is great. It really keeps the clutter out of the way and forces me to not use my desktop like a trash can.

The effects are also much more useful than the old compiz ones for me. I never used the cube and the wobbly windows had no real purpose while the activity interface on gnome 3 is extremely useful in making getting to apps easy ,as well as, keep my interface clean. That plus just about everything can be done with the keyboard.

Which probably means I didn't. Thanks I keep forgetting that they aren't drivers anymore but kernel modules. I'll try to give it a try tomorrow.

I was happy to find that Fedora had a decent e17 despite the package being an orphan. I wish I had the current skill set to maintain e17 for fedora or anyone else. but I'm more idiot than savant these days. I just don't have the time to keep up with anything. Linux was more uncomplicated ten years ago.

paul writes at 11:02:59 06/08/11 - Comment #62878: Can't you just wipeout you /etc/X11/xorg.conf, then just ctrl+alt f2 to drop out of x, killall Xorg and you are back in minus proprietary driver. You might need to reinstall the kernel and any remove any mods you added. Its been forever since I worked with ATI, not sure if that works or not, but it gets rid of my nvidia driver.

uncutsaniflush writes at 10:00:05 06/08/11 - Comment #62870: The heart was an oopsy. I've been living with gnome shell and fedora 15 for about a week. My major frustration is support for my ati radeonhd card. Or lack thereof. My fps is around 85 fps in Fedora. And around 1500 fps with Ubuntu.

After installing the ati catalyst module, I learned that gnome shell doesn't play well with it. I like gnome shell. I also like ubuntu's unity. It would be epic if someone made something using the best ideas from both projects.

I like gnome shell better as a usable desktop but I like the way unity manipulates windows. There are legacy buttons for old farts like me.

I think I may have to reinstall fedora 15 to get rid of my workarounds for the ati driver issue. I think too much config got changed auto magically. And not enough cofig got reverted auto magically.

Work is so boring right now

I am so bored with my job right now. I am having to re-write a bunch of existing code instead of working on anything new because a vendor product purchase changed the way we store employee position information.

Just about all of the other web apps depend on my directory service JSON RPC2 API so just about everything needs to be tested again.

Sometimes its fun to revisit old code and refactor but in this case, the code was very optimized and now I am just having to re-write and test a lot, in the end nothing will seem much different, just that my life will be sucked away a little more.

Street Signs In Kenmore

(e:terry) and I were in Kenmore the other day when he commented on how large the lettering is on the new road signs there. They are at least twice the size of before. He said he thought it was perhaps due to Kenmore's aging population. I think he might be right.

160 lbs

Eating more carbs is helping me put on weight. Clearly it was the food group I was lacking in most. Strangely it is addicting. I used to have a protein shake for break (banana, milk + whey protein.) Now I eat a bowl of cereal with milk and honey. Before I would not be hungry till lunch or dinner. Now I snack incessantly during the day.

I just hope I can stop before I become fat and that I didn't open Pandora box.

Summer Cold

Yuck, at first I thought it was allergies but now I think I have a cold. It started out with inhaling a bug hukibg at ghr forge followed by being massively allergic to all the perfumes at the concert.

In order to treat it I tried the Netti pot. Usually, I am ok with it, but this time I turned my head near the end and I swear the water came out my eye which was unpleasant. On the other hand clean sinuses feel so nice.

I decided to take nyquil. Hopefully I won't go crazy like (e:tinypliny) did in benedryl, lol.
