PBS donation

I called PBS this morning to make a donation. I wanted the Go Greener DVD that was currently advertised on the PBS pledge drive but the
person on the phone could not find it in the system for like 5
minutes. You would think that they would know th things currently
being advertised.

Back to linux?

So I had a gift card for border today. I always want to buy the linux magazines but I can never get myself to pay $15 for something full of information about free software with disks of free software attached. With the giftcard it was only a dollar - so I gave it a try.

The magazine actually taught me a few things I didn't realize which was awesome but moreover it inspired me to switch back to linux yet again. I have this off and on relationship with linux as my desktop. During any given day I am using 1 of 9 linux computers I manage but my laptop is generally mac. Recently, I just haven't been feeling as apple as before and I am tired of having to recompile stuff for mac so I am giving Fedora 12 a try. Maybe I wil love it, maybe not. No promises.

If I do then I am getting a hardware encrypted disk and switching over permanently.

This also brings into question what I will get as my next laptop. The biggest issue is the lack of full driver for my new magic mouse ;(

The ice throne

We went late yesterday evening to the ice maze. I think it was a good
time to go because although there were still a lot if people out, we
didn't have to wait in lime. I thought it was pretty awesome but a bit
slushy. Afterwards we listened to some music but sadly the tubing was
closed at that point.

Pomelo

The next fruit on my quest for the citrus Holy Grail was a pomelo

. It tasted like a grapefruit but without the bitter. It acrually tasted very pleasant. I keep hoping there is some other citrus flavor that is as unique to the other citrus fruits as orange or lemon is to lime. I guess the subtle nuances between tangerine and orange, mandarin and the other orange-a-likes are interesting but my absolute favorite right now is meyer lemon

The problem was that it is almost the size of a volleyball and the
skin is so thick. The ugli fruit from my earlier journal was much
easier to peel and eat. I managed to peel it abou 10 minutes. Each
section was in a leathery fiber pouch. I don't think I would ever get
one again.

So clean you could eat off it

One good thing about buffalo. Everytime I go down in the buffalo
subway I am amazed at how clean the tracks are compared to everywhere
else I have ever visited.
