Mid Party Show Time

The night got crazier once people started drinking from (e:ladycroft)'s over the top bar. People drank a lot of beer. I think (e:cutsaniflush) or (e:terry) won the prize for that. But many people drank vodka. this was a full bottle of sky vodka when the party started. It is empty now.

image

I put it next to a 2 liter coke bottle so you could get an idea about how much vodka it represents. (e:ladycroft) also brought me a mini bottle of goldschlagger. She really knows how to keep a programmer happy.

image

(e:ladycroft) also brought melon shots. We consumed every single one.
image

So then the craziness began.

(e:drchlorine) got a makeover from some of the ladies. Later he got locked out and (e:lilho) refused to pick him up. SHe can be so mean sometimes.
image

While we were ont he scavenger hunt, (e:jim) (write a freakin journal already) and James, and (e:uncut) and (e:matthew) got in a fight about the home schooling system.

image

At some point my brother (e:mike) decided to get in his underwear and put on a show with (e:lilho) and (e:jill). The show was an extravaganza involving flashing lights, daning, a spray bottle and the casio keyboard in demo mode.

image

Some of you may have experience the magic of demo mode before.

image

image

image

He spent the rest of the night in his undies, even outside, even humping jesse's car.

image

(e:ladycroft) got a dance tease out of the show. At this point I realized she really looks like (e:holly).

Party Part 1 - e:ladycroft's birthday

My cell phone can hold 800 pictures and 1GB of music so eat that Steve Jobs.
Needless to say I have plenty of media from the party. So much in fact that you dialuppers should view these entries in low bandwidth mode.

(e:ladycroft)'s birthday was supposed to start out with a scavanger. unfortunately, people came late and not enough people had car's with CD player or sober drivers by the time it was really began at around midnight.

image

As soon as (e:terry) pulled in the door from his work at FEMA, (e:alison) and I jumped in and the scavenger hunt began. (e:jill), (e:mike), and (e:lilho) were the other team.

We didn't realize that the other teams all needed to see the balloon and considering they left ten minutes before us, we though we were set.

::DOWNLOAD SOUND::

The first clue took us to Sister's Hospital where our team promptly stole the balloon.
image

The ballonn lead us to McDonald's where (e:alison) ate fries and I had my first taste of a McDonald's product since 1995. It tastes ill.like crap still.

In the end none of us got to the finish

image

At some point we were supposed to be presented with the choice between several version of the true (e:ladycroft) and then pick which one was her. We didn't get that far. Poor (e:ladycroft) and Theecarey spent like 2 hours waiting for everyone at the finish. I will let her explain the rest. Either way, we kicked (e:mike)'s team's ass because they never even found the balloon (even though we stole it.)

Yesterday

Dieselboy was great. I danced till I felt like I was going to pass out for the first time in years. The place was kind of small but the crowd and the music were awesome. The heavy metal meets techo session was weird. But I even danced to that. Then I passed out at TK's house at like 4am and was yelled at for not checking in at 6am. I was really tired.

I started the post Diesel Boy experience walking to Globe Market for breakfast. We had ran out of water at home, so I had to go get some somewhere.

image

On the way home I took this pic but didn't realize till afterwards where I was stepping. Sorry mom.

image

I know this is gross but...
When I got home I decided it was time to do the dishes so that our sink would be clean for (e:ladycroft)'s party. You can't believe how nasty it was. Unfortunately, it turned out I was allergic to the dish soap and my nose would not stop dripping. Which sucks when you have wet hands. I decided to let it go and see what happens. It was very uncomfortable. I guess if you don't wipe you r noise it literally drips endlessly.

Then the party started to begin . . .

polish villa

(e:matthew) and I headed out to the Polish Villa for lunch. It's located on Union near William st. The prices were so reasonable and the portions were huge. I had the fishfry because it was friday. I kind if regret not having more traditional polish food but the fish fry looked so yummy.

The place was packed. If we had arrived even ten minnutes later, we wouldn't have gotten a seat. As a matter of fact, when we lefft the line was going out the door.

Then I went apartment hunting with (e:mike). They both sucked. One was in a basement and the ceilings were too low for his head. It was basically an old ice closer/rec room converted nto an apartment. The bedroom had no windows nd a half a foot thick iron freezer door. The asking price was $575 - that is just ridiculous.

Then we headed over to Norwood. It was a giant attic apartment but the entire place was coated in doghair. I never had such bad experiencs. We didn't even get to the point where we checked out water pressure! I guess sub $600 is the same as sub $350 was a year or two ago.

social security office

The social security office in the Appletree Business Park is insane. There are about 20 people in a 15 x9 room. There are two windows but only one is open. It is absolutely silent. I knew the local gov't was bankrupt but this is a federal office. I suppose the government can no longer afford to staff the social security offices with the war and the hurricane.

It's a lot of old crippled people and they are getting angry. One old guy just freaked out because he waited a really long time for an application. He yelled out and left without it.

Where are the workers?

I remember when this place was the como mall. We used to come here with my granmother all the time. I remember seeing the Great Muppet Caper here.

tired as can be

I can't believe that I stayed up working on programming till 7:20am. I took a picture so I would believe it myself.

image

I am mostly done working for the weekend, so it works out. However, I am ridiculously tired. Now I just need to go get a social security card so I can get paid for it!!

Look at my eyes. I took a pic so I would remember what it felt like to think till you are exhausted when I am old. If they give me a problem at the social security office I am likely to go postal. Look for me on the news, lol.

My Latest Project

You may ask yourself where is (e:paul) and all the new stuff that usually happens every two weeks. Well, he got roped into a million and half other things. Soon I will be back and there will be a bizillion updates I'm sure.

In the mean time I have been hired to work on stuff for the Virtual Reality Department at UB. My first task was redoing their web site which used to look like this.

image

Now it looks like this. The white is supposed to be the profile of one of the characters I created for one of Josephine's VR projects and the yellow shooting out the eyes is the beam from the projector that make sthe VR happen. The grommets are just my usual grommets from Cinema 4D. I wonder how (e:strip) made it so far without them. I put the beta version here
image

The biggest changes however are in the way it is coded. Now it is XHTML compliant with js separated from HTML and style separated from content. It can also be updated by the professors there without work on my part. Hopefully, that works out.

I like this logo even if gears are cliche.

image

I love how the spell check always wants to change Josephine's VR project to Josephine's VCR project!

On a side note while I was checking the new page for XHTML compliance I tested out the media studies site at UB and wow what a totally not standard piece of crap code job it is. It doesn't even have a doctype not that it would be valid for any doctype. The css and javascript are all included in the main doc instead of included as external files so that they could be cached. It is basically lame code side, although it at least looks nice.

It just proves the fact that I wasted so much time and money at the crappy school. The guy who taught the web classes sucked so bad. I heard that he was paid like $7000 to make that site and then paid students to do it for like $500.

Grant Street

Grant Street
(e:metalpeter) [inlink]metalpeter,428[/inlink] Here are my answers about Grant Street.

I think that Grant Street will experience some of the riches from the elmwood area but I don't know if that is necessarily a good thing. It just depends how far it goes. It is good for investors and for people with money who want to "settle" the neighborhood but generally it will drive prices up and poor people out. And where do they go, then? Gentrification totally changes the demographic of the neighborhood. Some people describe that as progress. I my opinion it's not always that good.

I mean, I think it is important for people to move in that care about their neighborhood. And I defiantly think that slum lords and crack houses need to be dealt with but if it goes too far, it will end up like yuppified elmwood where the price of housing jumped from the $400-$600 range to the $700-$1000 range much faster than general inflation. You can just see it in the prices of Wilson's Farms. They are way higher than we pay over here near main street. (e:terry) could say more about that.

The worst scenario is that it gets bought up by out of town investors who then rent the houses at out of town prices. Gentrification is nice for the settlers but not for the people who already live in the neighborhood.

Basra Javascript and Bookshelves

While eating breakfast this morning i realized most of the books I own are just for decorative purposes. I wonder what that means for the future of books. I want a Sony libre

image

I feel bad for Basra because he has no idea that his summer wonderland paradise is coming to and end. Although his luxury condo is nice. He definitely prefers to be outside. I guess he probably has some idea because he dozen't get to sleep outside at night anymore.

image

I worked with students for about 5 hours yesterday helping them build javascript games. It is fun when it works.
