Adelphia Woes Continued

[inlink]scud,82[/inlink] (e:scud) re you sure that the problem is between adelphia and the modem or do you have a router in between. If so, it could be that the ocmputer is losing connection iwth the router instead of the modem losing connection with adelphia. In that case it would all check out find on their end but your computer would be online.

I hate dealing with them, although I do have this one really funny story. I called in the middle of our first big party on elmwood at the lafayette house. The network was down , or so I thought, and I was so angry that people couldn't post to the site from the party. Turned out that someone had accidentally kicked the ethernet cable out of the router. When the operator asked me to test and see if the computer was connected to the cable modem I realized that the router wasn't and felt like such an idiot that instead of just telling her I went through the entire 20 minute diagnostic phone call with the shut it down, wait a minutes, turn it back on , restart the ocmputer crap. I just pretended to do all that because I couldn't tell her how dumb I was that I hadn't checked the cable.

Jeff Weise School Shooting

Are school shootings becoming normal in America? Someone should have dealt with this kid before it got to such a dangerous point. These are some quotes from a cbc article

"He looked like a cool guy, and then I talked to him a few times," Thunder said. "He talked about guns and shooting people." . . . Weise cultivated a dangerous appearance, including sculpting his hair to look as if he had devil horns. "It looked like he was trying to be evil," . . . dressed in black and wrote stories about zombies, may have posted messages on a neo-Nazi website expressing admiration for Adolf Hitler and using the handle "Todesengel" - German for "Angel of Death."

Is that not a little weird to be a native american neo-nazi? Why did no one stop him at that point. Where were the teachers and the school guidance councilors. He also supposedly posted this animation and some others. See the story below. Warning, it is graphically violent cartoon.

On Wednesday, TheSmokingGun.com reported that Weise posted a computer animation on a multimedia website in October, Newgrounds.com, that showed a gunman shooting four people, blowing up a squad car and committing suicide.

The animation was accompanied by a photograph of Weise and a description of him as "nothin' but a Native American teenage-stoner-industrialist."

That happens to be the same description that he uses for himself in his livejournal. I decided to find his livejournal and got this - it only has 3 entries but it is clear that he is hurting. maybe someone should have noticed.

Potato Chip Advertisment

I was working on the fivev project with cassie when I noticed her potato chips had advertisements printed on them (see below.) I hope this isn't the beginning of extreme food based text advertising.

image

image

She also told me her kids have fruit roll ups that when pressed on their tongue print stuff in food coloring on it.

image

As if their wasn't already enough dye in fruit rollups! Kids of course then want to stick out their tongues. This could end up being so sick if companies convince kids to convince their parents to let them use their bodies as advertising space. What is worse is that the body being used for the advertisment doesn't really receive any reward or gain. I mean the people selling their bodies for advertising space on ebay are at least getting money for it.

An another note is this the halon gas you were talking about (e:shawnr) . And why do we need it in the CFA if it is so deadly.

Bobby Fischer gets Icelandic Citizenship

Fischer is wanted in the U-S for playing a chess match in Yugoslavia in 1992 in violation of U-S sanctions. Japan arrested him last summer on a passport violation and he's been fighting extradition to the U-S.

Iceland's Parliament granted him citizenship this week. But going there might not protect him, since Iceland also has an extradition treaty with the U-S.

The Bobby Fischer (WIKIPEDIA - Bobby Fischer)story is indicative of everything that is wrong with the world.

You can read your journal on wap

Now, Japan's cell phone users are turning pages.

Several mobile Web sites offer hundreds of novels -- classics, best sellers and some works written especially for the medium.

It takes some getting used to. Only a few lines pop up at a time because the phone screen is about half the size of a business card.

Speaking about reading on cell phones, does anyone know that you can read the latest elmwoodstrip.com journal entries at www.elmwoodstrip.com/wap

I hate this site now

image

I unfortunately made the misguided move of inviting random people I don't care about into my online environment. I spent about 10,000,000 hours preparing this environment to be how I wanted it for me and my peeps and then everyone else got mixed in and now its all censored and boring. After years of being honest and being me I am now reduced to a series of update notifications and electro blurbs. I have decided that if I have to be so boring that I would rather spend my time writing a robot that will write my journal for me. So I may just do that. You probably won't even notice a difference.

I am sorry for those of you that feel the same way. I figured this would happen when Dr. Halavis said as it moves to about 200 people that it would be become less cohesive but I pushed the envelope and now everything is bad.

I have a couple options. One, finish my thesis and walk away from this project to pursue other stuff. Two, make this site a private one for member view only and have some sort of rigorous membership requirement. Three, move away. Four, move away. Five move away. Six, move away. Seven, move away. Eight, move away. Nine, move away. Ten, move away.
