Bass Pro

This is fucking insane. Harsh words but our libraries are closing and 66 million tax dollars are being given to Bass Pro to open downtown.

Believe it or not, 14 million is miraculously coming from the city and county funds, I thought we were bankrupt. They say 400 jobs will be created but according to news channel 2 , it will amount to $165,000 of county and city tax dollars per job. The workers can't possibly make so much.

Now I have to ask myself where the fuck the money is coming from if we can't afford the library. I wish they would just haul the books out onto elmwood and burn them so we could at least see this huge symbol of end of our society in a most visually dramatic way. One time when wondering through Weimar I wondered what it felt like when people realized the Weimar Republic was ending.

I can't wait till Bass Pro trickles down onto my economy.

The Buffalo Monopoly Game

What kind of crap is this. I wonder if the people that made it even live in Buffalo. It is so commercial and the worst part is that Boardwalk is Niagara Square. Park Avenue is Niagara Falls. That isn't even in Buffalo. No elmwood, no deleware, no chippewa.

Thanksgiving

I will have to comment on some of these pictures later. The best one is the picture of (e:mike) with candy from the early 90s that he bought when ekhert was still fays. This is the last package I haven't destroyed. He is really thinking about saftey deposit boxing it.

image

You can see the fays sticker but he still won't eat them. It is part of his collectable candy collection.

It accents his cashregister collection and my mother's kitchen plastic wrap collection.

Thanksgiving Day Snow

First of all, yesterday was the busiest day in a week but it started out with a nice surprise. I went to work and nobody was there. I had the day off and didn't realize it. It gave me time to catch up on work from 1PM to 6am. By 6am I was so sick of 3d but the badguy and monkat are 99% finished and skinable. Thanks god, I will post some render when I get a chance.

On another note it snowed today and as I had programmed it, the site snowed as soon as the Nation Weater Organisation reported it. I love stuff that works, especially when you forget about it and then it works two weeks later.

Well I am on the swimming upstream, back to the North side of elmwood where I was spawned. There is a big thanksgiving celebration waiting. Yum!

Thank you for writing this

You do know you've already coded this site beyound human comprehension, right? You seem to think if you added some more features, people would come. That is not the problem. You've done your part. Go ahead and code your heart out, but don't think for one minute that's what is standing between estrip and total world domination.

So what is separating it from greater usage in the buffalo area. Is it really just lack of advertisement or lack of interest. I want to know so bad if it is worth advertising more, as it generally cost money. Even the flyers cost about $80.

When their are more people their is inevitably more to talk and read about. I would like people to be more interested intheir community members dramatic lives and their own lives, than of the lives of those portrayed on television. We have the perfect opportunity here to entertain and infrom ourself thus constructing our own entertainment reality instead of having it delivered to us with commercials.

Think about it like textual pirate radio right. It's like everyone has their own station and what is different than most places is that you have a guaranteed build in audience.

Maybe we just need sex, surgery, and death defying stunts to keep people intrigued now-a-days but I really believe that the reality of personal drama is the most seductive of all. I mean that it what gossip is based on.

I think (e:twisted) that you are right about collaborative journals but I question why more people just don't start them up without me having to choose topics. Look at (e:northparkproje)ct . They collaboated on their own initiative, I question why other people haven't collaborated for special topic journals although I wonder what that would do for the individualist nature of the journal format.

I know what would really work and bring a bizillion new readers is something scandalous like a sex journal where people confess true sex stories. How about the first one be something tamer like fiction/story writing one about a fictional elmwood strip seeing as gardening is long gone in our soon to be frozen tundra?

I would like to see 50 new people begin writing, not necessarily signup seeing as we have 116 with words, 172 signed up, and only about 60 that update regularly. So really some of the 50 have signed up, something is just stopping them from writing. I would really like to know what happend to them.

This is so hardcore America

This is the most ridiculous hardcore song about America. I am thinking about collecting as many ridiculous songs about america from all different genres and having a elmwood radio tribute to America, haha.

Call for Float Volunteers and Autos

(e:dan) gave me a great idea, and that is to have a estrip float in the artvoice mardi gras parade . Who is in on that? I need some serious installation artists so we can win the best float contest.

Why is everyone so depressed?

Why is everyone so freakin' depressed? Wait, don't tell me I don't care. Doesn't anyone enjoy their lives anymore? It seems like everyone I talk to only complains about how sad their life is and how everything is so horrible. How about the fact that people in Iraq are having the arms and legs blown off? It least you aren't in a war. Maybe it's the end of the semester, the weather, or that Bush is president drama but honestly I am sick of hearing about it from every direction when we are in general the most privileged people on earth.

On a side note, I wonder why no one new has joined the site? Where are all the people I envisioned, who wanted to talk about their community and how they felt about it. I wonder why no one ever started journals about special topics like gardening and why everyone assumes the site is made up of teenagers when the average age is like 26. People in Buffalo really don't have much enthusiasm about anything. maybe that is why the city really sucks. If you haven't lived anywhere else, you can't even imagine what a prospering city is like. It is totally different.

I am waiting for the big contingency of middle aged woman to join and spice it up. Or maybe a band of anarchist teenagers. How about the business owners? Or even crack dealers, we know our city has its far share of those.

I guess I haven't advertised in months. It would pay to do that but then I keep feeling like it is so much work and I wonder if it's worth it to make paper crap. (e:soyeon) was going to make posters sometime . . . It's insane how much the readership has gone up. We almost never go under 200MB per day of bandwidth but no new writers have joined, outside of those few that write one thing to advertise some event.

Hm. I'll have to think about this more critically when I am done with the other much less interesting projects I have to get done. On the other hand, I am also thinking about abandoning this project all together and focusing on something more commercial. I would have never said that before, but seeing as the growth is stangnating here, what do I have to lose. I mean I have a ton of useful source code, it does what i want it too and if the people of Buffalo arn't interested in free space, web galleries, and online community than maybe the people of another city are. Sorry to criticize you Buffalo, I have loved you as much as possible and you never seem to be very intesting, just consistently more depressed.

My Longest Pause From Writing

Well, I went to the party on satursday night in TO with Jesse F, Terry and I. We had a good time dancing from 10pm to 6am. When we left I was so tired and we had to walk tens of blocks just to find food at 6am. I figured there would be somewhere to eat at 6am in a big city like Toronto, but I guess not. What was most distrubing is that after the party we asked many of the other people leaving where we could get some food and every single canadian said McDonalds! Not like one candian, or one group of canadian, but about 30 individual canadians replied with McDondals. One canadian girl tried to help us, but everyone she asked gave the same answer we got. She is the blond on e in the center and looks remarkably like my cousin christina. She seemed pretty cool. Maybe we will met again someday. Here is that robotpilot clothing ocmpnay they were working for.

image

image

So we decided to start walking toward tourist town and ended up eating at some fancy breakfast place called the Eggs Emporium on Younge st. Somewhere I have a picture of the food. It was yummy but I wasn't all that hungry in comparison to how tired I was. I am still exhausted. I just don't move much anymore, so an extended set of danicng is beyong my bodies capablity with a follow-up of 48 hours of rest. We ended up sleeping in the car in some parking lot where I hurt my neck and legs pretty bad from sleeping really crooked.

image

Here are some pictures from the party taken by someone else. We aren't in any of them. I left the sidekick in the car, so I got no pictures myself, which was both depressing and relieving as I did not have to take care of the 'kick the whole time.

I have so much freakin work to do right now. I better get to it.
