My Disgusting Geographic Orange Tongue

This Wednesday, I finally gave an appointment with a dentist that specializes in geographic tongue thanks to some research by (e:tinypliny). I am ready for it to be over. Hopefully they can do something about it.

I did do the medication for yeast, en in cleared it up for about 3 days but reappeared. I have no history of periodontal issues either this all simply started after the root canal and antibiotics. I had never even had a cavity befor that one time. I had heard it can be related to you gallbladder but I can't actually confirm if that's true or not. IMO I do think it's bacterial/fungal in nature, mine has passed complete through my system, whatever is in my mouth has made it's way out so to speak. I've done gastros, dentists, internal meds with no answers also. I m now on my way thurs. To a neurological as I'm starti g to get symptoms of weakness and shakiness when the orange is badly coating my tongue. Ifw I have any answers at all I ll be sure to pass them along

(e:Paul) has (to my knowledge) had more than 3 different dentist consults with no particular diagnosis apart from their telling them that it is geographic tongue.

(e:Paul) thinks its perhaps microbleeds from the tongue surface that shows up as bright orange - possibly due to some pH changing reaction with either fungal or bacterial metabolites on the oral mucosa. He has noticed his toothbrush getting stained with the blood occasionally, hence the microbleed theory. It seems more plausible than others.

A few months back there was another person on the internet who sent (e:Paul) a message that he should maybe try a local application of tetracycline (as in smash a tablet and put the powder directly on the tongue). Apparently, this get the orange tongue in check. But I am not sure if (e:Paul) ever tried it.

I am sure I am missing details in between. In fact, I am interested to know what blanks I have left out...

I also have geographic tongue and after two rounds of very heavy antibiotics (amoxi and cipro) I developed an orange tongue. I then had a root canal with a replacement tooth put on (not metal) That was 6 months ago and its STILL orange, exact same color as yours. I was also very sick after the root canal to the point I had to go to Mayo Clinic. The swab came back Neg for yeast. I've tried Difluxcan (sp?) oil pulling, tongue scrapers with no luck. What was the outcome if any!

Just to lower those expectations a bit. a) His senior fellow told me that he sees *many* patients with geographic tongue in his practice regularly. I am not sure that is equivalent to being an expert. ;-) Quite honestly, I wasn't really researching dentists. His senior fellow is my new officemate and I asked her a ton of questions before she was like "You should meet with my professor! He deals with it everyday, day in and day out!"

Samsung Galaxy S2 - AT&T Attain

The Samsung galaxy s2 came out on ATT&T today and I finally jumped ship from the nexus one after almost 2 years. It feels like the future because this is my first video phone. I called myself between the fedora 15 laptop and the phone. It was pretty neat. Its even neater between phones. The thing that did it was a combination of the speed, size, amazing screen and camera. The screen is so clear and the blacks of the AMOLED are so black. I want a TV like that someday.

The camera is amazing. Actually it was the main factor as I can you it to document my geographic tongue better and take close-up pics of text. The nexus one had cracked lens so closeups were a no go.

As you can see by the benchmarks, it blows away my old phone.

It even has this fun cartoon mode.

Casinorama

Last night (e:matthew), (e:Mike) and I went to the Seneca Casino last night. Gambling at the slots sucked. Sometimes I win a bit, even if I am going to lose. This time I consistently lost $20 worth of plays on the penny slots. Even though it was the penny slots we were playing 50 lines at a time.

Actually, I was exaggerating - there was on win, this was it. How the frick is this a win? I can't understand how the machine works at all, which makes it seem all the more suspicious.

The best part was the Mega sized mozzarella cheesesticks. The worst part was the cigarette smoke. I had no idea what it was like to be in a place where thousands of people are smoking cigarettes indoors.

We opened the glowstick fairy wand, but had no chance to show it off. Its kind of a sad end to the fairy wand.

Toro For Restaurant Week

Sameer, (e:terry) and I ate at Toro for restaurant week the other day. I think they might have the best calamari in town. Its not greasy and its topped with parmasean cheese slices and peperoncini.

Sameer was going for the madmen look with a tie and a martini.

Green Building Tour

We toured a bunch of green properties today. I am pretty sure I want solar panels and radiant floor heat. We were thinking of refinancing, maybe its a good time to look into it.

One of the houses had geothermal. I am still not sure how it stays warm.

Now forgetting about temp for a minute you can have a dry sunny cold day where you feel comfortable even though it is colder... That bright sun and nice sky and no chilly wind and bright as opposed to looking like the gates of hell are about to open is a factor in miserable ........

LG Thrill 4G

OMG I want the LG Thrill 4g 3d phone. Unforunatelyvtge pics are only 3d on its screen.

Here are the stereoscopic images. The lg thrill screen interprets them for you into one coherent image - which is the magic part. You could however print them out and use them a stereoscopic viewer like they did in the old days

Or you can just download the full size images, make them full screen, and cross your eyes. The illusionary 3d image that appears in the middle is a close approximation to what you see on a 3d screen but without eyes crossing.

It was the same with these pictures when doing the cross eyes viewing. Then I read people that have this issue can try reversing the left and right photo. When I was a kid what 3D meant was that things looked like they where coming at you... Or like out of the screen. Or in some cases to me it is more like the 3D stuff is ahead of everything else.... Again though I don't know as I get the full view.... Now filming things in a way you can feel the movement is something different... There was the movie called Coming to America yes the Arsenio Hall and Eddie Murphy Movie and at beginning they way the film the plane you can feel it move... I get this feeling of camera movement on the 3D glee movie and sometimes get it on football... Hard to explain though...

I thought what 3D was and it is bit confusing... Is in 2D Images and I guess video as well is flat. You have what would be considered back ground and foreground... Now with a Traditional camera when you focus you can pick where you focus and that some how effects how the picture looks. As an example some one is in front of city hall well you can focus so they are blurry and city hall is crisp or vice versa... This I would say can be used when you want to see the scenery ....

Now this is where I get lost. with 2d you see those things kinda as one thing. But 3d has another layer.... Look at (e:Terry) behind is the window and sky and bench and a building that is the back ground. But in front of terry is the peace sign. He is the foreground but his fingers and hand are a head of the foreground so they look like they are coming out of the picture... Or at least to me.....

Now in terms of a screen what 3D is supposed to do is take the picture into 3 layers and kinda over lay them.... It kinda looks like this picture was taken and Terry is on top of it....

But see everyone's eyes work a bit differently....

Maybe some of the pro level picture takers could explain this better cause it is a bit past me I was just saying how I understand it....

Who are the targets of this campaign? Most ostensibly, children. There are more obese children in the US than anywhere else on the planet (well.. maybe UK comes close) and it's likely to get worse in the next few years. But do these target children care about disney anymore? It seems a bit out of sync with what the target age kids really might be into these days.

Perhaps music icons or sports icons could have been a more attention-getting choice. By putting disney on, does the ad imply that it's perhaps an old-fashioned but fun way to live? That cannot altogether altogether appeal to kids who tend to not like anything old fashioned.

So I don't know. On the positive side, the font and colour are well done. I scarcely saw the disney characers before you pointed them out. The only thing REALLY prominent on that board is the message - which is good.
