Odd Tidings

So last night me and Jill went with Jim to one of his coworkers birthday at Allen St. Hardware. We thought it would just be like her and her friends would be at the bar type thing but no they were all liek sitting at a table making incredibly awkward like why was I there? Like Jim knows the girl and JIll is his girlfriend and then I was the random sidekick everyone wonders why you're there person. Awkward!

How sad about Epeep night being the night I am going to see Rent at UB. THough I'm sure I'll still be able to go to epeep night afterwards maybe but I"m not sure.

Sarah Gilbert (the angry daughter from Roseanne who would play Jill in a movie about Jill's life), I feel bad for her. The girl from Buffy and American Pie who was supposed to be in some new sitcom dropped out of it and did this whole interview where she was like "yeah the role was stupid and pointless and I just couldn't waste my time wiht it because it was so bad" and then after the interview they added , "the role will now be played by Sara Gilbert" ....poor Sara Gilbert.

Jessica Ho will I see you while you are here?

YEAH NONNA!!

My nonna is an amazing woman! She is 90 years old almost and had a stroke about a month ago and we just found out she will be able to go home and be back to living alone on March 4th! How awesome is that!?! She started walking on her own again today and it just keeps getting better and better. Once she goes home they don't think she will need any therapy or anything! Now we just need to try and convince her that a microwave would be a good idea and would make her life much easier!!! She is one tough lady, though I guess two world wars, poverty and moving halfway across the world would do that to you!

Lately

Can I once again reiterate how much I love the new messaging system on here , cuz I do love it! I also love the random bucketful of knowledge that is my honors seminar professor Mel Schroeder. While I will probably not do great in the class, he is seriously insanely knowledgeable about everything but not in an annoying kind of way. He just talks and talks and relates things to so many other things that I am always in awe of his vast knowledge. Maybe it is just in comparison to some of the other professors at Canisius that I have had that are lacking even in their own main field of knowledge but I swear he is unbelievably chockfull of facts and ideas.

Been kinda bored lately, hoping for something exciting to happen soon. Nothing in particular, just antying. I realized the other day that I haven't had anythign that really made me excited or mad or even think in a while, just kind of in a middle blah ground. LIke work hasn't been bad or good , just ok and school is ridiculously easy this semester where I never have any real worlk or thinking to do so I am just in a constant state of blandness. Like nothing is particularly aggravating or bad, that wqould almost be better in some way because then at least I would care about something. I don't know, all I know is I am ready for a little excitement.

(e:maureen) and (e:Mk) , I don't know if that sauce has any connections to my family, but if the company is run by the "family" (and you know what family I mean) then it probably is my family. haha I wish

Random Tidings

Just thought I'd update with a few random tidings:

- I love the new message system where you can leave messages for people's journals, everyone should try it out. I was happy to discover I already had messages when I first found out about the new systme.

-100 Dyas Party was fun (thanks for buttoning my fly Katrina) except on the way home we got in a car accident and nicole was pretty upset, understandbly, and I was pretty drunk and so was probably not as helpful as I could have been. The guy was very shady so we'll see what happens. I hope it all works out good for nicole.

-since Michael Jackson owns the rights to like all the Beatles songs do you think Paul McCartney had to pay him in order to sing them at the Superbowl. Speaking of the superbowl in my advertising class we saw some commericals that didn't make it b/c they were too controversial. One was hilarious, it was for some kind of beer and it said like Backstage Before the Superbowl 2004 and you saw a guy trying to open a beer and couldn't and so he grabs a shirt off a chair and it is janet jackson's shirt and he uses it to open his beer and the shirt rips and so he tries to tape it back up. I found it really funny, i think you have to see it to appreciate it.

-my classes are still pointless.

-i'm excited to see Rent in a few weeks

Hmm i thought i had more to say. I guess not...estrip nights need to get back into style!!!

100 Days

This Thursday is the 100 Days party at Canisius. That means there are only 100 days left until I graduate from college. How terrifying yet exciting. In 100 days I will be a college graduate. A graduate with no future mind you but a college graduate none the less. Well lets hope the 100 Days party is a good beginning to the end of this part of my life.

(e:maidencateyes) , is the rest of the Keane cd a lot like the one song on the radio? Because sometimes I hate when like I like the song on the radio but it ends up being completely different from the rest of a cd which I then don't like. But I think I am going to buy the Keane cd. What is the name of the cd? Thanks

Keane

Has anyone heard the song Somewhere Only We Know by Keane. It is so really good. I had been hearing it on the radio but they never said who it was by except once but I couldn't' understand what they said and then it turns out (e:maureen) and andrew in schnectady were trying to figure out the same thing. I guess they were on SNL this Saturday and the mystery was solved. I suggest everyone gives the song a listen!! You won't regret it.

Sometimes I want the weirdest things. (e:beast) and (e:mk) know what I'm talking about here. Such silly ideas run through my mind sometimes, but wouldn't it be great if it worked....ok probably not...but maybe. It seems so random but could have been so enjoyable?!?

So this weekend I decided to come up to Schnectady and visit Maureen. ON the ride here it was not so bad and took just a little under 4 hours including the itme I was lost driving around Schnectady looking for her apartment. Even with her on the phone and giving me driections I still couldn't really handle it( I still swear there was a church on the corner)~!!!! It's been a fun time , just chilll an drelaxing like I needed. I'll update more about it when I get home, if I find my way that is. I want to stop at the outlet mall in Waterloo on the wya. It is right like on the thruway. OMG we went to H&M yesterday whcih i love and the one here is huge. Like the men's department is huge, not as big as in NYC I don't think but bigger than any other one I"ve seen. WHY AREN'T THEY IN BUFFALO! See you all soon! Enjoy the SUperbowl!!!

Poor Uncle Jesse

Oh poor Uncle Jesse from Full House. On a lifetime movie commercial I saw the other night he had second billing to Tara Reid. What a fall from fame John Stamos, what a fall!!! I remember the days when he could headline a made for tv cable movie with the best of them. Now to be second best after a boob-showing startup nothing actress, in a lifetime movie no less. Oh senor Stamos, what's happened to you?

Spreading Yourself Around

Ok one more thing about the book I'm reading mentioned below....there is at one part the girl, Clare is talking about how she got Jonathan to invite his boyfriend over that she had never met because she felt he fragmented his life in too many ways and that is what made him unhappy. I will quote it "In an effort to cheer Jonathan up, I got him to bring Erich home for dinner. He didn't want to. He had to be nagged into it. It took more than a week. I woudln't give in, though, because I believed in what I was doing. My theory of Jonathan's trouble was simple. He had let his life get divded up into too many different compartments. There was his job, and his life with Bobby and me. There were a few friends from college, and a random sexual life with strangers, and an ongoing affair none of us with somoene none of us had ever met. I believed he needed more areas of overlap"

When reading that I totally realized that is how I feel in many ways. I always thought I liked keeping my life fragmented and so everyone knew their own version of me that fit the situation but then I'm starting to think maybe that's not good. Maybe I need more overlap. I always liked keeping my different groups of friends separate and my work people separate from my other friends and I feel like there are a few things I keep from each of my friends so that nothing overlaps and everything is distinct. Maybe that is bad, maybe I would feel better if I was always one person and everyone was more intertwined. Or maybe I would hate it. Who knows? It just made me think about it more than I ever had before really. ..maybe it would be easier if I didn't need to remember how to be in each situation because they were all the same...or maybe that would just be boring..

A Home at the End of the World

So I am currently reading A Home at the End of the World by Michael Cunningham and it is seriously one of the best books I have ever read. At the same time I'm not sure it would appeal to all people but very specifically appeals to me. Basically it is about these two guys who are pseudo in love when they are younger, one moves to NY and plans to have a baby with this girl even though he is gay and she is straight but they are in a kind of love and want to have a baby, but then the other guy moves to ny and sorta falls in love with the girl and they start having sex and she gets pregant. And then tehre is a side story about the one kids parents and how is mom was settled but unhappy in her life.

ANyway, seriously I have never read a book where I can honestly relate to every character so well in at least one way and also like see so many of my friends and family in the characters. I was gonna quote some parts and talk about them but the list grew too long and I couldn't decide what to include. But for instance at one point the one kid Jonathan talks about how he wanted his life to be Puckish which is crazy because I always wanted to be liek Puck from MIdsummers NIght Dream and liek he was always one of my favorite play characters of all time. And the way the three characters act when they live together in NY reminds me in so many ways of my friendships. I don't know but i just love the book and recommend it i think but you may not like it but i do.
