into the wild

finished watching into the wild this morning. wow, what a depressing way to start my day.

i know the guy had a message about being free and whatnot but seriously? he went to alaska and basically committed suicide because he had no clue what he was doing and thought he was just going to be the arctic tarzan?

i know we are all too dependent on material possessions but i think he could have found a better way...

it was so sad when he was eating the plants he thought were edible and then realized he poisoned himself..

and extremely gross when he killed the moose but couldn't butcher it in time and the maggots started coming out everywhere.

anyway, this movie makes me even more into civilization and material items, and definitely not ever into traveling into the wild.

so pretty much, you can watch this movie and be depressed afterwards, but it is really good, and the main actor is hot, until he goes insane and starves to death, but you could just stop watching and disregard that part if you wanted.

i hope there are hundreds of hot men in aruba, and not the kind that will try to abduct me, only the kind who want to buy me things and give me drinks from a coconut that they have not put drugs into.

and eddie vedder did the soundtrack, which is amazing :)

Werner Herzog created a documentary about him called Grizzly Man - essentially for many summers he went and lived among the grizzlies in remote Alaska. His last summer he AND his girlfriend were killed and eaten by bears.

I think that this guy, I forget his name, was on to something and had really good ideals. I think where he went wrong was that he not only secluded himself from civilization and material things, but from all people. I don't think human beings can survive without human beings. That and he was, admittedly, a well-off kid who might have been a little pompous and naive about his abilities to survive in the wild.

This was on my to-watch list but I don't think I like the storyline at all. I think I want to live and die in the midst of people, not in some crazy wilderness after finding "peace".

laughing so hard it hurts

i just went to see Dan In Real Life, with Steve Carrell. I have never in my life laughed so hard. I actually thought my cousin and I were going to have to leave because our laughter was disruptive.

Such a great ending to a very busy, very taxing, but productive, amd actually enjoyable week. After only four hours of such last night, I am definitely ready for bed, and another hopefully great week!

Anyway, you should go check out the movie if you need a good laugh. The really great thing is that it ok to see with anyone!

Other great people who appear in this film, Juliet Binoche, Dane Cook, John Mahoney. Oh, and Sondre Lerche did the music.... I have only great things to say! Made my week.

A really great laugh can put things into perspective, and so can a really great massage(which I plan to get tomorrow!).
