A walk in the city
These bees started a nest in our back door, at first I thought we could learn to live with them peacefully - like with the ants and other bugs. Today they sting (e:terry) and started getting realy out of control. We fought back a bit. I killed some with rocks and terry killed some with soap and water. I called the landlord because I think the problem is getting out of control at this point.
Sorry about the blair witchiness of the beginning, I was scared. It might be hard to tell but I think there were about 150 of them.
The traveling barber on elmwood has some interesting signs.

The mansion they are redoing on deleware. It has come along so much since it was just a facade but I am still scared of the pillar holding up the porch roof. It kind of buckles.
Beautiful flowers on the edge of an elmwood concrete crack below the old buddies which is becomming a dinner theatre? Seems like they stopped reconstructing a while back.

All of the towne houses by the old Lord Chumley's are for sale. What is the deal with that. (e:matthew) sai dthey are all like 600,000. We decided that we want to go see them.

The chocolate bar on Chippewa seems like it could be a really fun outting. It is chocolate bar with chocolate drinks and dessert.

that lion on the side of that building is like my favorite thing in Buffalo. It always has been since I was little and I always forget to take a picture of it and was afraid it would be painted over before I did. I'm so glad it is now immortialized on estrip!
Paul, that building with the Lion on is the MrMike commented about, my mother worked there forever when it was Manny's - I'm sure somewhere in your subconscience you remember. And you still haven't called me - evil! Call me at work if it's easier (619) 688-1404. Okay, don't EVERYBODY call me at work! This could be an interesting day....

Italian Festival
We made it out to the Italian Festival. I think I only went one other time since it was on Hertel. I remember the old Italian Festival on Connecticut Street very well. My grandparents would always take me when I was a a kid. But when it moved over to Hertel Ave. itw as too far away.
The food was delicious. I had fried calamari, fried ravioli, tortelini in vodka creme sauce, peach and raspeberry italian ice, italian sausage, streak and dandelions, clams, and ice cream. I love whatever that lobster hot place is, even if it is not overhwelmingly italian. They have really good seafood.
They had some sort of Italian Dancers from our sister city in Italy. Sorry the pic is so blurry.
The fried calamari from Lombardos are the same lame, pre-fab frozen ones that you get a Casa Di Pizza. The ones down the street at Fillippos - were so much better. You could see them actually breading the calamari and frying it. Not to mention tha it was a combination of legs and rings which I prefer. (e:mike) only likes the rings.
I don't know what it is about Lorigos but people were willing to wait over a half an hour in live to get their food. The flyer said they were a wholesale place form Grant Street. Somehow, in my whole Buffalo Italian life I never got introduced to that. It can't be that far away from Guercios.
Yummy italian ice. It had the perfect consistency and flavor to me.
I wish I could have gotten more pictures but my hands got so greasy so fast.
How can they always have free ice cream everywhere? Did anyone try it at the taste or at the Italian Festival.

Block Sale
Well, it is freakin' hot out and I am sitting in an enclosed car with the windows rolled up waiting to die. I am alergic to lawnmower cutting and some woman started mowing her lawn right as I got in the car to put the canning pot I bought inside. So I decided to wait inside but seeing as its around 90out, I think I only have about 5 minutes left before I die or have to brave the alergies.
The Dorchester Block Sale is the lamest blocksale I have seen. I kind of expected better stuff for such a fancy street.
On another note, I met with my thesis advisor and she liked my thesis, gave me a couple additional notes which my computer somehow deleted (hopefully I remember them) and it looks like I will graduate after all.
Just stop reading this if you hate your life.
The more sucessful my life becomes, the more uncomfortable small talk has become. I actually have caught myself lying about my life in order to appear less sucessful.
Typical situation - see someone I haven't seen for a while
Me: how's it going?
Them: It sucks. Buffalo sucks I don't have a job or just got fired, my girlfriend cheated on me, and my landlord sucks.
Me: Oh, that sucks.
Them: How about you?
Me: (quick, think of all the bad crap that has happened - blank) I didn't finish writing my thesis yet?
Insert: Talk about the weather or food
Them: Ya, we really need to get out of this town.
My advice is to just wait it out, times change.

Updated Life
The Tea Party rocked Thrusday in the square.
This girl at Thursday in the square seems to have drawn all over her pants. Everyone was trying to read them.
We stood around, (e:terry) ,(e:mike) , (e:beast) and I.
The tea party was pretty good.
I took two videos. One has mike and terry the other some crowd.
This dude was super buff. I want to look like him but I can't donate that much time to excercise.

On the workout front my legs are getting buffer. This pic need to be edited. It looked more opaque on my laptop screen.
Friday turns out, willbe very busy.

Shakespeare In The Park and poetry
Went out to the (e:strip) Shakespeare in the Park Cultural Gathering imk2,86 - it was pretty fun. Lots of peeps and lots of freakin snacks and drinks. I think everyone had plenty to eat and drink. I
even played with a dog for a bit. It was okay because I was outside and it wasn't a cat.
The bill was a little riske don't you think?

On another note, my mother sent over potery I wrote in GT in middle school. I think they may have been one of my first times using any sort of layout software. The poetry was more serious than I would have expected out of me. I wonder what I was thinking.

Gay Bathroom?

Taste of Buffalo
Buffalo just tastes good.
Seriously, I love this freakin' festival. I eat until I fell like I am going to puke and I get to try all kinds of new stuff and old favorites. I was full and had left over tickets with only $20. I know if went with (e:hodown) or (e:mike) I would have eaten about $40 worth of tickets.
Before I left I debated whether to wear flipflops or shoes with shorts. I think flipflops looked better but I didn't want to get stepped on so instead I wore shoes. My feet look huge when I wear shorts with shoes but nowadays, I just embrace the dorkiness.
Avon was there delivering some message about woman getting beaten.
I think they wanted them to cover up the problem or to get them and their men to "makeup"?
There was lots 80s songs and even some 90s ones. (e:matthew) notices that early 90s might be starting to come back. Thank god, I am ready for the eighties to go away again. It's really weird to think that 1980 is as far away now as 1960 was in 1986. Remember the 60s nostalgia then followed byt he 70s and most recently 80s nostalgia.
Crawfish just taste good. I am so satisfied ripping their heads off and eating the meat from the tail.
Pigskins. I think this is new this year. It is deep fried potato skins loaded with pulled pork and covered in nacho cheese.
There is this mirror on bada-bing on chippewa that makes me look tough. (e:matt) and (e:terry) too - it adds about 30 lbs
This is a pic of Lance Diamond entertaining us. He kept singing love songs and replacing the woman in the songs with Buffalo itself. You got to love Lance Diamond. Notice the vote for Nader 96 sticker which leads me to believe if I order real estrip.org bumper stickers and put them up everywhere, no one will ever remove them.

Congratulations shawnr
I was writing a comment to congratulate (e:shawnr,280) on his landing of a great job at PBS in DC and it got me thinking about the BUffalo Brain Drain.
It is so sad that Buffalo is losing him though. Buffalo should be more sad than I am because he is truly one of the young people with a vision and capability to make a change and places like UB are so lame for not having jumped on that.
In fact all of the smartest people I know have left. Maybe I am an idiot for staying (selfish sidenote: the more of you that leave the better I look - if enough tech people leave, I can just lie and say I invented the internet).
(e:southernyankee), (e:ajay) , (e:hodown) , (e:haikuster) , (e:codypomeray) , (e:emilyjane) , (e:iriesara) , (e:emily) , (e:jesse) , (e:julie) (e:robin) have all already left - not to mention the fact that I have heard (e:nejiffer) , (e:ladycroft) , (e:jenks) and many others say they expect to work in other cities when they are finally done with their school/interns.
I have a feeling in ther end it will be carey, mike, jill, me, terry and matt- hopefully living on lincoln parkway.
