Moving On Up

I got offered and office again thanks to that hard work of one my favorite people at work. I also got a briefcase from (e:terry) and (e:joe) for my birthday. I am feeling more professional already although its going to be hard to give up the backpack. Maybe it was the only thing that kept me looking young ;)

Birthday Dinner at Rue Franklin

We had my birthday dinner at Rue Franklin last night. The food was amazing. They even made a delicious off the menu veggie meal for (e:joe). It was such a great time.

I had Grilled octopus with winter beans, radish and olives, a cheese platter, beef tartare with a citrus sauce, and duck and sausage stew.

We drank it down with a delicious bottle of red wine and I topped it off with Creme Brulé.

Afterwards, we came home for delicious truffle cake that (e:joe) made and I opened my gifts. They got me the leather bag I had been asking for and (e:mike) got my a fancy wine opener although his real gift is helping me write the thank you cards for the wedding.

All in all, it was an amazing birthday.

Random Food

I am so into eating a bunch of random veggies with proscuito. It tastes so damn good and I got around 15 lbs to go. The artichokes at Wegmans and Trades Joes were so good this week. I wish I bought more.

Blood Pressure

I brought a blood pressure monitor because I am obsessed with health monitoring. My blood pressure is pretty damn good.

On the other hand my pulse rate is generally pretty high like 70-80. I want it to be 60. I guess the answer is more cardio.

Surprisingly, it appears that physical labor and excerise have almost no effect. It tried lifting weights and exercising and it only went up a few points. You can tell I was exercising at the time based on my pulserate. I was even dancing to happy hard core and then listening to gabber when I took the measurement.

Dancing at Toro

On Friday night we went dancing at Toro for (e:Joe)'s friends birthdays after the Rochester party was canceled. Toro just isn't my scene. It felt like a long island dude bro fest and I wasn't wearing a gold chain.

Becomming 37

I can't believe I will be 37 this week. It seems like just yesterday that I was 17. Last night we went out with some friends for their birthday at Toro. The bouncer thought I had fake ID because he didn't think I looked like I was born in 77. He ended it with, "good for you man." That felt good.

Gas Price

The other day I let the fuel get real low because I was in a hurry. I never let it go down that low. When I filled it up it was more than 14 gallons. Must be a 15 gallon tank.

BadWolf Proudly Presents: Digi-Raverz

"The sky will be darkened by the wings of many bats. The fallen people will invoke the name of the undead king and when the clock strikes the hour of the beast, the undead king will reveal himself in his true form as the beast. Then angels will shoot arrows of hope and light at the loved ones of those they've been sent to protect, and a miracle will happen. Please always recycle." Whats Going On With Me

Work is totally consuming, I haven't been doing anything other than work recently. I seriously work like 60 hours a week. At least it is extremely interesting and always changing. I always feel like we are trying to get to the end of another, OMG, we need to create this complex, highly integrated, inter-system solution that we were supposed to finish a month ago, and here are the few minor details we thought through - run with it. Honestly, it is a feeling and pace which I kind of enjoy and they really do give me a lot of free reign and control over the projects.

However, there is also all this other unimportant meta work and bureaucracy that creeps up 24 hours a day and needs to go away at some point in my career. Its that crap that kills me. I want some firewall between me and that work. Kind of like how the physicians have midlevels. If I don't handle all their smaller issues around the clock that build up. Most of the issues don't even have anything to do with me, people just come to me for my problem solving skills which seem to be more honed than most. A lot of them come from technology phobic end users. I am starting to think that my problem solving skills are not a blessing but rather a curse as I am literally inundated with what I consider simple issues that other people are freaking out about.

Well that is that. Tomorrow we are supposed to go dancing in Rochester. So I will get one evening to relax. Unfortunately, I was having some horrible Urinary Tract Issue that involved having to get a cystoscopy this morning at 7am. Lets hope tomorrow is less peeing blood from the cystoscope cutting my urethra and more fun dancing.
