Retina Display Macbook Pro 15 Inch

I got my new work computer on Friday at 4:30. It requires a lot of setup but the hardware is amazing including the screen. I am kind of mad about an ordering snafu where I grabbed the one without the discrete graphics card for the same price as the one with it. If it was my personal laptop and/or the purchase and setup process at work was faster, I would definitely return it. But I don't want to end up waiting another month and it seems so complicated. Maybe I should just write to apple and see what they can do.

Golden King Crab and Artichoke Soup

I took some of the extra scraps from the new years crab bag and made myself some artichoke heart soup.

I started with veggie bullion, and added frozen artichoke hearts, corn and pees along with some scallops, a fee small shrimp and a few slices of squid. I cooked this for a while with some butter and some olive oil. Then I aded some clear mung bean noodles and the crab.

I let it simmer till the crab was completely thawed and then covered and let it sit for about 20 minutes while I lifted weights and the noodles absorbed the juice.

It was probably the best soup I have ever had in my life. The crab was exceptionally sweet and the artichoke hearts balanced it out perfectly.

Working Out

I have been lifting weights at home. At this rate I should look good by summer, better than the skinny-fat I was before. Not half as hot as (e:joe) though, maybe he will post him flexing if you are lucky.

Christmas Eve

All out of order but here are some pics from Christmas Eve at my aunt and uncles house. The food was amazing. Christmas Eve and New Years Eve are pretty much my favorite holidays foodwise. Our family celebrates it all seafood style. I barely got any pics of all the delicious food because I was so hungry I couldn't wait to eat. I ate so much fried shrimp I could barely move by the end.

Golden King Crab For New Years

Golden King Crab - Lithodes aequispinus

I would not wanted to have met this king crab when he was creeping across the bottom of the ocean.

Check out the size of these claws... and I don't have small hands.

I get them at Exclusively Alaskan Good in Eden like every year. The store seems to be less stocked than before and its cash only now but the crab still seems pretty amazing compared to anywhere else I have bought it.

Christmas Morning

Had a great Christmas morning, first at home with (e:joe) and (e:terry) and then afterwards at my mom's. I got some great kitchen stuff and serving wear including a whole leg of procuitto from (e:terry) which is like a dream come true. (e:mike) liked his unicorn. We even manages to turn the wrapping into a crown.

Wrapping Gifts

I went all out with paper cutting and the glue gun this year. This is going to make (e:mike) crazy because:

A. my gifts are wrapped better unless he really steps it up.

B. He isn't going to want to open the gifts because it will destroy the wrapping.

hahaha

Old Commodore

On the way to shopping at viddlers in East Aurora we past a business that had this computer displayed in the window. I had an original Vic 20 and was obsessed with commodore for a long time after but I don't remember ever seeing this machine. Maybe it was part of some business line.

I Cut My Own Hair Damn It

Back when I was 16 I had kind of long hair which my Dad was not fond of. At some point I decided to cut my hair shorter but left two longer pieces temporarily. Happend to be the weekend of the boyscout spaghetti dinner. At the dinner I was serving spaghetti when some guy who was a photographer from the Buffalo News asked if he could use my photo for an article he was doing about hair.

Later on it ended up in the paper and my grandma hung it in her fridge. I actually hated the photo. When she died it was the first thing I grabbed so I could destroy it. The other day my cousin Erica was at my great aunt's. Her grandma and found a clipping from the paper. Her grandma told her not to show my because I hated it so much that I even threatend to sue people over it.

And the strange part is thats true but not because I hated the pic but because I went to the galleria and De Bernardenis? hair salon had it blown up like 4ft x2ft and hanging in their store like they had cut my hair. I was so mad. I mean they definately never cut my hair and the pic was definitely the exact pic in the paper.

They ended up taking it down. Now I wish I had gotten the poster.

Normal Tongue - There is Hope

So many people write to me asking if the orange tongue (e:paul,54192) ever resolved itself. I can totally understand their pain and concern as it was making my life a living hell. It did resolve itself. I did nothing extraordinary other than get a root canal on a tooth that was bothering me but it had already subsided before then mostly. After about 2 years it just went away. I still get geographic tongue every once and a while but its usually one nice pink slate and never orange.

I guess I also did start using a water pic ever day to clean my gums thoroughly.

Do you still suffer from orange tongue? Did you ever find out what the issue was?!
I too have been suffering from the same problem. Been to the doctor dozens of times, only to be told my tongue looks "normal' and to use a tongue brush if I am concerned. ...There are some days I wake up with very little orange and some days I look like I sucked on orange popsicle.
This is driving me crazy - it was nice to see someone else with the same issue.
