Friday Night Bike Ride Through Buffalo

This was the first bike ride I went on since my bike was stolen at canisius college back in 2002.

At the end of the ride I tried to write my name in the Jew center parking lot via GPS but unfortunately I had the drop point set to every 16 ft so it just looks all curly. I will have to try again with shorter intervals.

In the last eight years I became quite a bit furrier and tonight I realized furry butt, tight jeans and bike seat aren't a good match. Maybe that's why people wear bike shorts.

Revisiting Clipboard Security in IE

The day (e:samathon86) and I revisited the IE clipboard insecurity site I made five years ago. Many IE users are still 100% vulnerable to this stupid exploit and it seems like no one cares. I bet a huge percentage of all IE users are. Basically, it lets a website read your clipboard in Internet Explorer if you don't have your setting set properly. The interesting part is that it allows the site to continue to read it in the background.

In fact I found it to be so extreme as to read the host OS clipboard while IE was running in a VM.

You can use the site to test your browser's vulnerability and turn it off. You are totally safe if you are using a browser besides IE, although I am wondering if flash presents a similar risk. I might check it out more this week.

Just when I thought I had eaten everything

My chinese coworker says he is bringing in chinese squash soup. At first I figured it was just a name for the type of soup but with squash I would recognize so I asked him for some pictures from this site

They are both squashed I have never seen. I makes me wonder what else is out there. He said he didn't know english names for them.

New Mac Window Manipulation Icon Placement

I really hope Apple doesn't go with this new vertical icon placement for the whole OS. It is so ugly and frustrating. It seems especially stupid when it doesn't match the rest of the OS.

Below you can see the difference between safari and itunes.

Mac OS Snow Leopard in Vmware on Fedora On a Dell

Well this answers the question I wasn't sure about. Was my vmware image of snow leopard only working because I was previously running fedora on a macbook pro? The answer appears to be no and holy crap it is fast now. Here we have Snow Leopard in Fedora on Dell. Don't worry I bought an actual copy of snow leopard for this.

The fact that both that and the windows VMs both boot up in about 1-5 seconds makes testing web stuff in every OS a snap. This is especially important now that the resolution on my screen is 150dpi.

The new dell m4500

Its ugly and heavy but its a powerhouse and its not a mac.

When first booted it up to install fedora, I accidentally forgot to hit f12 to boot from the DVD and it started to load the factory preinstalled windows 7. Believe it or not windows 7 crashed on first boot and went into that stupid safe mode screen.

I quickly restarted and booted up the fedora dvd. Luckily Linux is running smooth on the quad core 2.0 ghz i7 with 8gb of ram, 256gb ssd and a 1gb nvidia card.

I love fedora so much. Every freaking thing worked on first try both on this and my old MacBook pro.

Mike on an M&M

For his birthday, one of (e:Mike)'s friends had his face printed on a bag of M&Ms. It was weird crunching his face.

Chris' NY Sandwich Co Lunch Special

No exaggeration, this was definately the best lunch I have eaten in my entire life.

It was two giant, panko encrusted chicken breasts on salad greens topped with layer after layer of yellow and red tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, and proscuito with a balsamic and Basil vinigrette.
