The new system, google, and jason

The new system of identifying journals is landing more individual entries of google. Today I was looking through the server logs and I found that someone had gotten to the site by typing tried to ask her out rejected into google. I wondering what it linked to so I tested it out

The number one result is (e:jason) 's journal [inlink]jason,145[/inlink] That is insane. Poor (e:jason) - by the way you can type a username,id into the jump.. box and go to a specific entry. For example type jason,145 into the jump... box.

Family Events - At the racetracks

Last night was (e:matthew)'s mother's 50th birthday party extravaganza at their cabin. There were tons of people, food, and beer. Unfortunately, I was the designated driver. He took lots of pictures and I'm sure he'll post them when he'll get back from today.

image

Today, we are at the Fort Erie Race Track with my dad. He loved horse racing. (e:terry) almost won on race two, his horse was in the lead till the last second. He bet on it because it was the only horse not on drugs.

Someone annoying bitch sat next to me and kept flipping her purse onto the seats from our family when they got up. At one point she tried putting her purse on my seat while I was adjusting position. There was a seat in between us that was empty. I don't feel like a purse is a legitimate enough extension of her body, at least not enough to take up two chairs. I hate people like that. I wanted to grab her stupid purse just smack her upside the head upside the head with it. She eventually got up and moved behind us. You can prob see her in the pic of me.

image

(E:matthew) took lots of pictures [inlink]matthew,572[/inlink].

Don't gamble. I never liked gambling but now I really hate it. I lost my entire $20 gamble in about 6 minutes on the slot machines. It was the only time I never won even one play. Blah. Now it's time for people and horse watching - at least it's free. (e:matthew) left the casino because they wouldn't let him take pictures. I recorded lots of sounds as part of my new digitizing the world campaign.

(e:mike) and (e:terry) decided on fries - if you ever go to the tracks at Fort Erie make sure to bring your own food. First of all because their food is disgusting, second of all because it is disgusting, and most importantly because the lines are like an hour long. What kind of backwards capitalists live in Canada that they can't figure out that hour long lines equals reduced profits!!

Thesis Reading Gift

(e:hodown) bought me this amazing book called "Voyeur Nation" by Clay Calvert for my thesis. At the time she bought it, we didn't know that I would be using it for that. About a year ago, I got to pick a parting gift for a attending a clothing shopping run at Factory Outlet Mall and chose the book and about 5 pieces of bubble gum. I bet it's on my journal.

Fatefully, we had just found it on sale for $5.00 and I thought it would make an interesting read. Little did I know, it is probably the most useful books I would find. Thanks (e:hodown) I owe you.

Eating with lilho

After a busy day of production while avoiding reading, (e:lilho) took me out to a calamri dinner. It was delicious. I hope someday, I can also have enough money to buy my own calamari dinner.

image

I was a little conflicted about the whole thing as (e:terry) had cooked a very nice spegehtti sauce dinner with some canned tomatos from the thousand jars at nonna's house. There are litterally so many that we are still eating the ones from 2002. I wonder if the aged ones are worth more like wine.

image

Afterward, we stopped at (e:jason) 's. It was nice to meet him and his friend. This is a pic from his proch across from spot, the future home of the banner. He said he is coming to (e:ajay) 's shindig. I hope everyone else is too.

Germany's Calling

I received a phone message from Yvonne at like 5 in the morning her time last night. I wonder what is going on with her. Unfortunately, like everyone else, she had no idea that my voice mail does not play out loud. People try so hard to get me to pick up the phone, but I can't hear them on voicemail, until after they have finsihed saving the message.

::DOWNLOAD SOUND::

I will call her tonight, I miss speaking German so much. It is weird that she spoke English on the voice mail because I think I have only heard her speak English two or three times in all the years we knew each other. With Vonage, calling Germany is only 3 cents per minute. It's even cheaper than calling my mom in Kenmore on my cell phone.

OS X on Dell

It seems that since Apple (Quote, Chart) decided to move its processors away from IBM's PowerPC and onto Intel (Quote, Chart), other companies might be looking for a way to get in themselves.

Michael Dell, Dell founder and chairman, told Fortune magazine Thursday he wouldn't mind adding Apple's OS to its software product list, which includes a couple flavors of Linux to go with its Windows-heavy lineup.

"If Apple decides to open the Mac OS to others, we would be happy to offer it to our customers," he said in an e-mail to the publication.Quoted from: Dell Bullish on Mac OS?

Why don't the other companies just come out with their own flavor of linux. I mean it all starts out half developed as open-source projects, just like with OS X. Similar to the lindows operating system that Walmart sells. More and more computer hardware companies should just begin to develop their own instead of creating another "windows."

Blood Pressure

After a stressful day or arguing about our depressong financial outlook, we went to wegmans. Apparently, arguing and stressing out makes your blood pressure go up. Mine jumped like 20 pts to 104, lol. The result of today is that we are officially poorer than the poor with no debt but we are not moving to Nonnas house.

Watermelon Hubba Bubba Gum

Does anyone else rememer watermelon hubba bubba gum? It was so soft and chewy and green striped on the outside and yummy pink sugary goodness in the middle. I can almost taste it whlel writing this.

Apparently, they went out of business in 1994 and then returned in 2004 under wrigley's as hubba max but now it is strawberry mixed with watermelon flavor. You should check out their page it is very entertaining and interactive.

image

I tried their new watermelon gum log pictured below and it was disgusting. I just want the old gum back.

Nonna's house - Cleanout

I am spending the day with my mother going through Nonna's stuff. I also found out the whole apartment has that really nice wooden floor under it. I think moving here wouldn't be so bad, if we could redo it a bunch.

We found lots of stuff. In fact, Nonna actually collected every ticket stub for everytime she used any type of transportation. You should see the graphic design from the travel industry in the 1960s. I would say it is even better than now. My mom wants (e:matthew) to make a nonna trnaportation themes cut out from them.

I got a blood pressure machine and a digital thermometer. No more need for a doctor. I also got my mom's old teeth.

Bye Bye Dream job

I had found an amazing PHP/MySQL programmer job and had gotten to the point where it looked promising and I had an interview at the studio set up for Thursday. Then I went to look up the address and realized it was not in Buffalo but rather in Syracuse. In my excitement I somehow mixed up Franklin Street in Buffalo with Franklin Square in Syracuse!

My life is just a series of cruel job dramas. Anyone want to hire an accomplished PHP, MySQL, D/XHTML, javascript, CSS programmer and graphic designer for steady work in Buffalo?
