Oxytocin Trust

University students who inhaled the hormone in a nasal spray were discovered to be far more trusting of one another -- eager, in fact, to hand over money to strangers in investment deals.

The results suggest trust can be bottled and used to forge commercial relationships. Quoted from: The Globe and Mail: Building trust via nasal spray

This sounds like the most horrible discovery ever. I could easily be used to bend reality and create a totally fictional adherence to "truth and justice." I would rest easier if I just didn't know it existed. It kind of explains the concept of the sex vixen spy agent.

Working at the rose garden

It was so hot out today. They have already begun constructing the shakespeare in the park pavillion with a crane. The tulips loook great in the rose garden but the roses are
suffering from some sort of disease. I hope make it out.

Rose garden, then printing flyers

I am off to the rose garden to go help my mother volunteer. Then I am going to have more flyers printed. One set for everyday use and one for pride weekend. They are mini size bookmark flyers so that I print 14 to a page. That way I feel they are more environmentally responsible. Here is a preview, there may be more, depending how much time I have between writing letters, writing thesis. coding, and eating.

The new general use flyer with more to come.

I hate the phone

I hate telephones. Especially, the kind that live in one place and can't move like mine. I would prefer to just use email because we have one phone, that is never charged, upstairs and away from everything. It makes it just about impossible to deal with phone calls. I am available in like 600 other ways, just not the phone anymore. Unfortunately, I have to occasionally interface with the rest of the world that still uses the telephone.

Like when our friends call to do something. there is a 99% better chance you could reach me via IM, SMS, (e:strip) or simply email. I always have it with me on my sidekick. i refuse to use the sidekick as a phone because it costs $.20/minute and I am poor. The internet features, however, are unlimited for $29/month.

Another example, my former boss has been trying to get ahold of me because I sent the chair of the department an emailrequesting my former job back. I know, I now, everyone thinks that makes me a loser (and it does) but I want to be able to have time in case that Boston non-profit job pans out but to also be able to eat.

If i got the non-profit job too(sidenote: I don't get my hopes up about jobs anymore), then I would be teaching adv web programming, doing advanced web programming and teaching graphic design on the side..

So anyways, we have been playing phone tag for three days.

In his message he said he would call back tonight around 8PM. Hopefully, it works out and I at least can make enough money to eat and live while I deal with everything else and find an appropriate job for my skill level.

Business as unusual

First of all I have to say (e:jason) made my day by offering to hang the (e:strip) banner on his house on elmwood, directly across the street from Spot coffee.

I spent so much time working on the site that I forgot Wednesday is the day I offcially begin working on my thesis. It will be done soon enough and then I can move on to the next thing. Which at this point is about 5,000,000 things. I really just want the Boston job more than anything in the world. I hope they wern't looking at the site during the upgrades today because that would really suck!

I love web programming so much (DHTML, PHP, MySQL) and I hope that it can just become a full-time job for me. The job has all the possibilty of making me happy because it is a group I like and it not some corporate sell out job.

Speeking of working, I also need to get started on Gamesfirst GF! (e:shawnr) owns that site with his wife and some friends. I am thinking about becomming a partner and doing the programming. Seems like a good project, I just wish it had more immediate results in terms of money. We are so poor now that i am not allowed to spend any money until next week. Unless I get a job I like, we are only going to get poorer and poorer until I starve to death or get some lame job, or move.

I guess I can't complain too much. I have a nice apartment, a car, two lovers and a tortoise but I just don't want to have to leave Buffalo right now. I really enjoy it here, we have a great apartment, we are getting a house and I like the people. Unfortunely, it is hard to find work that I enjoy and I don't feel guilty about (e.g. some corporate sellout job.) I just don't want to be working for evil, unless it is the mafia and then in that case, I AM HERE HIRE ME NOW!!!

I also really want to start this delivery business thing and do a matchmaking site/game but first I need to get started on that thesis.

Last night

We went out danicng last night. It was fun to leave the house for once. I was a little angry though because I made flyers for the site to hand out and then forgot them at home.

Today, we have canoeing with Dave lined up. It's cool that (e:southernyankee) made it down to NYC for the barbeque. Oh (e:lilho) we saw your friend julie last night. She said hello.

I fixed the sketch program

I fixed the sketch feature so that it inserts into your current journal entry when you are done with it, instead of just going into your image library. You can add a sketch by clicking on the add sketch button next to the media lib button in your journal publish box. Stupidly, I have thrown out the original flash file that I made it with, so now if I ever want to change it I have to make it again from scratch.

Speaking of Groceries

Do you guys think it is safer to eat conventional (non-organic) fruit or to not eat fruit at all. I am so torn all the time. Take strawberries for example. The conventional ones are so cheap. You get a giant basket for $2.50 whiel the organic ones are like $4.00 for a pint. I can't afford the organic ones but fruit seems like a heathy addition to a diet. Here is more info about strawberries and methylbromide hazards.
