Busy as a bee

I am just so busy still. Today I have to finish my portfolio and then apply for the Canisius job. After that I need to start working some more on fiveV.

This last month of grad school has turned into the most all-consuming part of my life. I also have to move the site to the new server. I am just waiting to get control of the elmwoodstrip.org domain back froim the mafia. Someday I will have a life again. Probably in may.

Elmwood is back to being sunny even if there is lots of snow on the ground now.

Sidekick Pics

Here are some more pics I am offloading from my 'kick. I barely have time to keep up with my journal anymore.

(e:terry) went to las vegas so I bought my self an ipod suffle to make up for it.

image

I had my first mobile online shopping experience orderig a subscription to make magazine. It as both liberating and terrifying. I saw the magazine, which is by far the coolest magazine I have ever seen but it cost $14.99 per issue, so I looked on the sidekick and found a year subscription for $34.00. I bought that too, it is nice to be able to shop online on the go.

It was hot out, now there is a half a foot of slush but here is proof that it was warm for a bunch of days. It was so nice in the sun.

Jesse Haha

We got so much work done today. We installed a streaming audio server running from cell phone audio feeds, got the image server to works, got the computer to dial up over PPP through a cell phone and connected the gps to the mysql server. I can't wait until this is done.

five v

So many things to talk about. The email system was down for a bit so I have all these journals that were on hold. It truns out that infrared leds show up in digital cam pics even though I can't see it. It is a great way to detect if it is working.

Jesse took our fiveV logo and made a circuit board out of it.

Instant messenger

In repsonse to [inlink]angryshortkid,25[/inlink]. I don't ever use an away message and that angers a lot of people. I always have AIM on because it is on my cell phone. Even if I am not looking at the cell phone, I leave it on so that when I get back to the phone I can see who is trying to contact me. Luckily, my cell phone has a keyboard or it wouldn't be as great.

Having IM on the go is such a different paradigm than using it on a computer. It is like being a phsyic, never being alone, access to information, and fun. SO for me, I never see any reason to turn it off.

New julie + Dr chlorine and mike

I am slowly getting everybody. I know there are still many more. Dr.Chlorine, what color are your eyes. Mike you look just like you did when you were a kid. Miek has the biggest mouth. I think that is quite appropriate. Julie you now have bluer eyes and florida cheeks.

Crazy Jail Dream

I had the craziest dream last night that (e:shawnr) and I were in jail for the next twenty years for some reason and were sharing a cell. My cousin christina was there too for tax evasion. It was really crazy because everyone else was really thuggish but for some reason they let shawn and I have laptops. We convinced the other inmates that we could make digital holographic replicas of all the inmates so that we could easily escape. The one part I specifically remember is how scared we were of the showers. Like we kept hearing people screaming. It was a really freaky dream.

Not half as nice as the dream I had the night before where I was in a non-descript big city and foud a box that i had packed away while living in germany. It had about $3000 in it. Then I woke up and had to go to electronics class [inlink]paul,3139[/inlink]. In that dream i was visiting michelle from poetry class last semester alogn with amy adams from arizona and terry. They were mad because I stayed at michelle house too long.

Electronics class sucks

So I am still taking the electronics class that I had to take to graduate and honestly it is boring and sucking the life out of me. I am totally uninterested in it or maybe it is just the way it was presented. We received about 2 weeks of minimal instructional time followed by nothing. I mean work time is fine sometimes but I still am confused about basic stuff and when I ask questions about this basic stuff I get no answers. I am even ok with, "I don't have the answer right now, but let me get back to you." However, that is not even the case. I have had this IR led problem that has been going on for like two weeks. I have directly asked fgor help 3 times with no avail. The one time the professor sat down with tme to try and figure it out, their solution burned out my LED $3 LED.

Having an instructor that is either incapable or uninterested in answering my questions is anything but inspirational. To top it off it is expensive. I have always been someone to work really hard on something but the way it is I am just not into it. Most of the time I ams seirously guessing and trying out a bunch of things and that is no way to make something work electrically. There are deifnate answers and methods for these thigns. it is not like splattering paint on a canvas. Although, bnoth can be used for art, there is no need to involve chaos in electrical manufacturing.

I guess it probably wouldn't take much to do something impressive. Luckily, I am working with jesse , but most of the time that just makes everything more complicated. I do truly enjoy working with him but I feel like anything we do together requires an additional amount of time that I don't have right now.

Maybe, I am stressing for nothing. Maybe it will all be really easy. It's not like I have seen that many impressive projects in the past. I was so exicted when we were working in groups because I went into this just wanting to be the programmer and it isn't working out that way.
