Moka looks open again

This is a picture of Moka before it was open.

image

I noticed it looks fixed now, it must be good as renovation took about a year, right? Has anyone been there yet? It's not really in my hood, but I am willing to check it out if anyone wants to go.

Emily And Evan

Emily and Even came to towna t about 2:00am this morning. I stayed up and talked to them before fixing the spell check and then sleeping till noon. After that I went with (e:mike) to Canisius so that I could drop off a copy of my exam and pick up the last of the student work to grade.

Evan bought (e:terry) this great video game where you are some sort of magnetic ball called a Katamari and you collect everything in site for the king of the universe. it's pretty fun to watch. I would have loved to be the modeler for this game. Everything is so low polygon and cute.

Tonight, I am heading over to (e:soyeon) 's with (e:terry) and sang for some tasty Korean food and to discuss the poster. Does anyone have access to a print shop for the posters/postcards when they are done?

Grading The Tardy

I am spending the day grading all those late assignments that people should have handed in months ago. Nothing makes me angrier then when they are late and I have to search for them. Especially seeing as the class has it's own journal site, where all the assignments should be posted. So what do you think that means for someone who posted last in late September.

If you are a student and reading this, especially if you are my student, note that when teachers have tons of late work to grade, they get angry and unhappy. Angry and unhappy grading makes for bad grades.

Here is the formula:
Late assignments = angry bad grades.

The worst case ever was this student of mine named Megan who waited until 7AM the day grades were due at 9AM. I would never let that happen now. I used to be a pushover for late assignments. Next semester I will accept none. One day late = 0.

g'night estrip

I can't even tell you what a dramatic day this was for me and (e:twisted) on the site. Everything is good now. My title is intentially cryptic as a little joke between us. We spent the day hunting down all the "illegal" characters that had to be "stripped". Sounds exotic and really naughty, but trust me it wasn't as funa s it sounds.

For a while we had to delete the entire site. You may have noticed an hour or so when you couldn't update between 2 and 3am. Those were the most fun times when I realized I had changed the date of about 3000 journal entries to 12/15/04 at 21:38. Thankfully we had a backup.

Without (e:twisted) 's help and (e:terry) 's tasty enchiladas I would have died. I owe you guys.

More snow and Toxic Waste

The saga of having James Leong as our landlord continues. Just when I thought having heat again was becomming a reality, we lose that priviledge as they redo the floors downstairs with more toxic varnish. I am so sick of the sweetly toxic smell. My toothbush tastes like it, our bottled water tastes like it, the apples that were on the table taste like it.

Still no exhaust fan. Today the workers actually did the floor just before they left at 5 with the windows mostly shut. I opened the windows downstairs a little.

My mother, the director of Channel 4 Call for Action, just gave him a call requesting we get to stay in a hotel tonight. He is sending the foreman down to check out the situation.

I wish the rapture would just happen now and Jim Leong, the landlord, could get judged for his treament of others.

It's Freakin' Cold

For those of you people that I hate, who live in a warmer climate, this is what it is like being trapped in a fropzen hell. I guess cold does reduce anxiety at least.

The snow was so light and fluffy today that it resembled cotton.

Exam Time and Blog Sites

Well, it's finally exam day for my 3D class. I hope they enjoy the exam, I tried to make it fun if that is possible. I will post a link to it after the exam is done. I have been so busy grading papers, homework assignments, and creating exams. I am so excited to have it be over so I can do some more site work and begin packing for the move. Which reminds me I might not even have internet service when I move! I remember when we move to Lexington it took us over a month to even get phone service. I really couldn't deal with that right now.

image

(e:soyeon) , what do you mean by blog site - one like the one I made with the API?

(e:twisted) made one too, I hope she does break up with me for posting this but it is good to see another examaple of how it can be used

Terry and I learn to knit

I decided I will try too. Nonna is teaching us knitting. I remember learning this as a kid, but have completely forgot how it goes.

Jim Leong Lies

So probably everyone that reads the site remembers the years of careful gardening that went into (e:matthew) and (e:terrry) really expensive beautiful garden. Well, if the problems we have been living with so far weren't enough Jim Leong had his workers empty the basement today and instead of putting the debris into a dumpster or truck (if it was salvagable), and which would be normal for such major construction, they dumped it all into (e:matthew)'s garden. They snapped the hydrangea bush and killed a bunch of other plants.

image

So then Jim Leong came over and tried to say that he didn't know it was a garden. Jim Leong clearly knew it was a garden. He had complimented us on it over the years. Why would they thow the debris on just the garden instead of the concrete area all around it. The fact that he tried to pretend it was not a garden or that he had no idea about it. That is totally impossible.

image

I can't wait to be rid of him forever.

Ventilation Continued
When he was here this afternoon, he told us that heater was still accidentally connected. After he assurred me the other day they wern't and continued to do work with volatile substances downstairs. So his idea the last couple nights, to just turn the heat up really was making it very toxic up here after all.
