Gumbo and Pork Loin

I would just like to thank (e:terry) and (e:matthew) for cooking all my meals and making me not die of starvation. Without them this site would not be possible.

ATM

Seeing as I haven't finished the low res foto site I decided to just upload some more pictures here until I am done. I took this picture because I remember when such things looked futuristic. Oh how times have changed. I looks like a duplo (legos for babies) set to me now. In case you are wondering where this picture was taken, it's from "We Never Close" on elmwood.

I have some other major projects in line before the foto site, however, rest assured that it will developed.

Weirdest Phonecall Ever

I get a phonecall from a Dmitiri and figured it was the new landlord because I heard he was eastern european from the realtor. I turned out to be a job recruiter. I keep getting so many calls and emails, it is crazy. Anyways, he seemed excited about my resume, etc and then when it got down to it he asked me if I had any other offers. I told him about the possibility of the alamedanet project and he told me I need to get the hell out of buffalo while I can. He was so excited for me to move to SF and kept saying do I really want to end up 45 with a wife and 3 kids in buffalo an dno way out.

Then I told him I have to finsish my theis and ha dthe possibility of a professorship job in the fall. He asked me how old I was and I said that I was 27. He then replied that, "Do you really want to be a professor at 27, you need ot get out and live your life." San Fracnisco is so cool, Buffalo is a dying city.

How am I supposed to feel about this? He is kind of making fun of my home town.

Communists Are Going to Buy IBM

Lenovo, which is partly owned by the Chinese government , is going to buy IBMs PC division. The "communists" are going to buy IBM PC division. This is so surreal.

Does anyone know about IBM's sorted history with the Nazis ?

Black explains that ultimately, IBM helped the Nazis carry through their policy of genocide. Without this assistance, Hitler’s regime would not have been able to carry through its extermination plan with such efficiency.

I've been so busy recoding the site

During a break, while paging through the Canisius College magazine I found a picture of President Truman at Cansius. I decided to find out the offical dates of his term online because I coudl not remember. I knew he dropped the atomic bomb but wasn't sure eaxctly if that was the beginning or the end of his presidency. I probably should know that but it has been replaced by some non-important computer trivia at this point.

My search lead me to the most random site I have ever encountered. The collection of data is so strange and totally non-related. There is also no information explaining it's conception, purpose, etc. Nonetheless, it is a really interesting blend of stuff. Check it out for yourself .

UPDATE: I just found the homepage here

The Library and Modems

Is anybody else freaked out that on Tuesday we can no longer take books out from the library. It appears to be really happening. I was thinking that seeing as the library is dead and we can't support the infrastructure, why not take a tiny portion of the money that would normally go there and offer free dial-up Internet service to all the people of buffalo. Then everyone could still have information, even if they can't afford the Internet, especially since computers cost as much as a television now.

Does anyone know if you can get dial-up service without paying for phone service because if you can't yet that could be a huge market.

An ontehr note, I was talking to (e:dan) last night who told me that he gets 230k using his sprint cellphone as a modem for his computer. that is what we are missing (e:chris) .
