cow paths

We spent the afternoon following cow paths around a pasture. It was warm out despite the icey conditions by the creek.

This could be so scary

FCC trying to control internet comunication -

I really don't want to have to talk about "back in the day" when we had free speech on the internet. If people would just stop trading copyrighted material this would end. I think it's mostly about the entertainment industry going crazy trying to combat filesharing. If people wanted a real evolution in freedom they would just reject the corporate entertainment overlords who are pumping their corporate propoganda down our throats and just say no to corporate entertainment.

I am so tired of people say "screw the man share movies illegally." That just draws more attention from agencies who need any excuse to exert more control over the flow of information on the internet.

Why not just really screw them and reject the their media altogether and make our own or watch non corporate entertainment. People could support local film makers and not require 25 million to be spent to find something entertaining. That's what makes me hate 3D animation right now, it's just part of the whole cycle of only wanting the maximum in our decadent society and now it's coming to this.

Why should we care about all of this? We should care because if the FCC has the power to act on anything that has something to do with communication, we have only the FCC's self-restraint to rely on when it comes to all internet communications. We should care because we want open platforms and open communications to continue. We should care because the future of the internet is at stake -- the FCC will use its "ancillary jurisdiction" to impose "social policies" on any services that use the internet protocol, and will point to its broadcast flag action as support for it.

Enough ranting. --paul

Does anyone remember blackjack gum?

I love bacljack gum, I thought it didn't exist anymore but they had it at the gas station on the corner of forest and elmwood. I think it was still a quarter but I'm not sure as I bought lots of other candy for the tip including another spicy favorite necco waffers. I thought they were made by the same but I guess not because the necco wrapper says New England Conectionary Company and balckjack says Cadburry Adams. Is that the Cadbury cream eggs company?

Robodump 1.0 - an excellent prank

This was the latest wired news on my rss - I am glad robotics has reached such a pinacle, hahaha. Kevin Kelm made a robot that looks like someone taking a dump. You can listen to the soundtrack at his site.

RoboDump is a robot. Sort of. And it poops. Sort of. Forever. A horrible, never-ending bowel movement complete with straining grunts, horrific gas, splashes, and pee sounds.

I snuck RoboDump into the men's room at the office. Unfortunately, today turned out to be the day of a board meeting. Whoops! It still went over well; the office was abuzz all morning with gossip about the guy in the bathroom. Several people theorized it was the CFO. The janitor commented to someone in the hallway that he wanted to clean the restroom but "this guy's been in there all morning."

Another sunday roadtrip

Dave came to get us this morning for a trip to geneseo. Should be fun. I bought batteries for the voice recorder, lets see if I can remember to use it!

Dave pointed out that our new sprinkler system is made of plastic and would melt quickly in a fire. Upon closer investigation, I noticed that the print on the tube said for unexposed use. Meaning it should be inside the wall and not outside the walls, like ours. I wonder if the fire inspectors will notice this when they come to visit. I should point it out to them in order to thank my landlord for making our life a living hell during the past month.

Dear Talent Scout and Venture Capitalist

Where are the talent scouts?
Dear Venture Capitalists and Web Talent Scouts,
Where are you? I think I have proven that I am extremely capable of making magic on the web. I coded every scrap of this site by hand. This isn't some prefab crap that I just filled in the blanks for. There is nothing that I don't own the rights to. As a matter of fact, I made most of it in notepad, that should speak for itself. Did you not notice the fact that the journals now fit on the page even you change the window size, and that the spell check works really well. Have you seen the chat commands or uploaded a journal from your phone.

Why have you not offered me a lucritive deal I cannot refuse, one that makes me want to quit school and sign onto some contract prefereably in SF, Seatle, Vancouver or Berlin/Hamburg? And no, I don't mean the person asking me to make them some lame static website for $3000. I would like a real job $$$ developing highly dynamic content and preferably porting my own system to some commercial product for other communities that you can then sell it to.

Where is my marketing team, and where are my customer service agents? Maybe I should just go back to school for business.

P.S. Fear not estripers, your site will not change. I want this to be the coolest free site on the web and won't change that because you are my communty and I owe something back to it, but I sure as hell would like to work making something similar to make profit so that I could pay for all of this at least.

Why did I think about this now?
How come everyone can turn everything into profit accept for me. Did everyone see the on (e:lisa) 's journal [inlink]lisa,156[/inlink] where that guy made a site where everyone uploaded an "I am sorry" about the election pics. It is brilliant but what is even crazier is that there is a store attached. How is it that he makes money off of something that offeres no real services and i make things that offer unmatched services and make no money. Maybe we should seel estrip merchandise, would anyone buy an estrip hoodie or hat, col?

On another note, at this very late period, I am thinking about drastically changing my thesis to be about creating tool for docuementary creation. Who knows.
