Marine Drive

In the artvoice or as (e:jason) would call it one of the shit rags I read an interesting story about the marine drive apartments as asbestos. I admit i didn't get it all but it was still interesting.

I read a story in the paper that I wanted to write about but kinda blanked on the facts, I think it was in todays papper. There may have been to articles. But the one I remember was about the Casino possibly beeing bulit in downtown. First of all I Didn' get a chance to read about the anti casino people meeting with canidates for mayor. The article had to do with eminentant domain and how often people who go to Casinos don't spend money on places out side of the casino. I think that with good promoting that wouldn't be true. I know some casino's have there own entertainment. But I think that if some Bars and businesses that warn't in the casino advertised then people might go to them. I think you could have good sports and casino packages and or promotions. It would be nice for a casino to be in downtown Buffalo because it would bring more people to the city and maybe some people from the Buffalo suburbs into. Part of the article did mention that they need to be creative and maybe have slots on chip strip. I think a cool Idea depending on where the casino winds up being is a Buffalo shuttle service from some of the bars to the casino and from HSBC arena to the casino. That would also encourage people from the casino to go to other things in Buffalo. I'm not a gambler but If I where to go to Vegas or the Fallsview resort casino. I wouldn't want to only gamble. What if I lost all my money before it was time to sleep. I know there are a few tours of Buffalo it would be cool if they could be advertised in the casinos. I know somepeople are really for the casinos and some are really opposed to them. I think if done right it could be a real boost to buffalo and maybe if really done right it could spawn some more delopment downtown. I wish the Rich stadium was downtown. I think a water front stadium like Cleveland would be awesome. I don't know if you can have sports beting at indain casinos. But if you can that would be cool. We could all bet on the bills to lose to teams they where better then and bet on them to lose to teams that are better then them and we would lose all our money. The point I'm trying to get to is that if promotions are done right the casino (if it ever happens) could be verry good for buffalo. Check out the Buffalonews for the article.

tired

At work I fill orders. I do mostly smaller orders that go ups and fed ex. Some of our orders are bigger then some of the small truck orders in terms of weight. Then I process them. There are also orders that go by trucks. Orders with oxy are heavy. I'm not the only one who does line orders. But today we had a lot of line and truck orders so I'm a bit tired. Plus my co worker had to leave for part of the day. So for some of the time I was filling the orders boxing them doing the paper work then using the software to send them UPS and FED EX wich includes pallettizing them also, by myself. Today I was not Happy. Our boss/co worker helped out on the line when he could. Tommarow is going to suck to. I like what I'm doing but some times I have to listen to heavy music to cope with the stress. It can really help sometimes. My job isn't stressfull intself it is just that in the back of your head you know they pay more for the same work at other companies. The other factor is you want to get all the work done but sometimes there is just to much. Don't get me wrong some overtime is nice. But it would also be nice if we didn't have to do it to get everything done. But you can't work to late otherwise you are no longer effective. I may be back on complaining again on thursday but it is payday and on saturday I'm going to the fair I hope it is nice.

NFL

Last night before WWE came on I watched about an Hour of the Steelers Vs. Philadelphia. I don't know who wound up winning. I did check in on it during the breaks in wrestling. I'm really looking forward to regular season starting. I'm usaly a 3 game person depending on who is playing. I watch the two day games and then the game at night. The Bills are not the only team I like. I'm not a Falcons fan but I like to watch there games becuase watching Vick is fun. The same can be said of the Packers sord of. I'm not a packers fan but a like Farve. But what i find interesting is that in California it is 3 hours earlier. Since they are live that might be odd waking up that early to watch football. But at the same time the 8pm game would be on at five and over around 8 or 9 then you could still watch your prime time programing. Or at least this Is how I assume it would work I'm sure twisted could give me more info on watching live TV based on eastcoast times.

Brawl

Yesterday I went to the Ball Park Brawl V. It was a lot of fun and the bisons won wich is cool. Charlie Haas and Jackie formaly of WWE where there and she won her match and Charlie wound up in a great match winning the Natural heavyweight title and then he wound up attacking Harry Smith (son of davy boy smith) to set up a match today after the rochester game. Sabu and the Sandman had a great main event match. Mic Foley did comentary and wound up counting the 3 count. Todd Gordon who was a big part Of ECW was in the sandman's corner. It was a lot of fun and I had great seats in the second row. To bad greenday had to be on the same day. On my way to the wrestling I saw an add for "The Stripteasers" at nietiches but I missed it, it was on friday I was pissed. I did go to the Karibana fest. It was small and some people warn't set up and those that did didn't have anything on the grill. I'm guessing they where figureing they needed to be set up by the end of the parade. Not sure when the music started but there was a stage set up.

Weekend

[inlink]metalpeter,401[/inlink] in a previous Journal I mentioned the Karibana festival on saturday and sunday. I found there web site it is www.buffalokaribana.org . They have information about some of theings going on and the parade on saturday. Also on Saturday is the BallParkBrawl. It is the bisons game followed by wrestling matchs. It is a really neat event. I would list the matchs but they will most likely change. The main event is supposed to be The Sandman Vs. Sabu. Plus Mick Foley will be there and a bunch of other wrestlers. That same night at the HSBC Arena Greenday is perfoming and Jimmy Ear World is the opening act. That should be an amazing show. Then there is the canal series I belive it is called for free you can see Everclear and I belive Last Conservative is the opening act, they are a good band. If for no other reason then to watch there lead singer on stage. Plus there is the fair also. I will be going to see the Bus Derby next weekend not sure what events are going on there this weekend. I'm sure there is more stuff going on but these are just the things I know about. I hope the weather is nice since I'm going to be out doors all day watching baseball and wrestling. I don't want to have to worry about what they would do if it rains, it had better not rain.

Always sunny...

On Thursday Nights there are two new comedies on FX. One of them is Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and the other is called straved. I will say that they are both a little out there. I taped the repeats of the first episodes last night and the new episodes are on at 10pm tonight. I'm not sure when they are repeated. I thought the first episone of always sunny was great. I really found it funny. Straved was not funny to me. But comedy shows go episode by episode or at least for me. I also watched the the new episode of Over There, it was a verry good episode I think that is a great show also. All 3 shows have a warning about mature subject matter. But what I don't understand is that movies, TV shows, and music all have warning labels or notifactions on them but why not commericals. For example there is that anti smoking add where they show all that goo that bulit up in an artery that looks like cottage chese that is gross. If I where eating I might puke. How about victoria secert adds. Those are some huge busty and heavly clevaged adds they don't bother me but for some young kid I don't know as they should see that. If people are warned about footage that might offend why not on commericals? I know that they are what is used to make money for the TV stations and TV programing but if the Warnings are to truely protect people then adds that might offend people should be pulled. Like what about Condom ads and parents who teach there kids that sex before marriage is wrong. I think if this trend continues we may start seeing the most sex and violance in ads as opposed to shows. But maybe there are restrictions on ads that I don't know about. I know I saw some anti drug commerical where there was some real dead girl in a morg. I don't want to see that give me a warning first.

Karibana

I picked up the new artvoice today (Jason's toliet papper, kidding of course, I thought it was a funny joke anyways). I see that on saturday and sunday downtown there is a Karibana festival. I belive it starts at noon both days. There wasn't a lot of information about it but it sounds interesting. I'm guessing there is more information about it on line somewhere or in the events section of the artvoice.

Ink

I don't know if anyone has any tattoos here or if any one likes them. I myself like them but don't have any. If you are interested by them or like reality TV there are two shows you may enjoy. I know I should be encouraging people to go out side and enjoy the great weather but you can allways tape them if you like them. One of them is Called Miami Ink it is an hour long show on TLC (The Learning Channel) Tuesdays at 10pm I belive. Then on A&E there is a half hour show (they show 2 episodes) called Inked on wendsdays at 9pm and it is repeated I belive on tuesday at 10pm but not sure if that is correct. It is about a shop that opened up in Vegas at the Palms. Both shows are verry interesting but both shops are verry differant. You might even enjoy them if you arn't into Tattoos.

The Fair

Recently I have started going to the Erie County Fair. I'm not sure how many years in a row I have gone. Some times I have gone 2 or 3 times in the same year. It all depends on what events they had at the grand stand and when I was off fridays it was great to go up on a friday and Saturday. I don't remember there website but you can get all kinds of information on line or if you got a book about them in last weeks sunday paper I belive. With all the vendors if you have a car they are a great place to go and do some early christmas shoping there are so many vendors. Plus there are shows and rides and all sorts of stuff to eat. Plus recently there has been these spray paint artists who are amazing and watching them is a show in its self the art is amazing. I don't know if they will be there this year. They usaly have one big attraction like the city of cards or this year I think it is a sand castle someone will be working on that is huge. Then there are shows that you can buy tickets for Like Styx. The funny thing is I have never gone to preview night. Preview night is Wendsday. I admit I don't know much about it, since I have never been to preview night but I have heard it is nice. I would advise everyone to go it can be a lot of fun if that is your thing. I'm not a ride or games person but I like looking at all the stuff for sale and the peking acrobats and the tiger show last year where verry good.

The War

As Horable as war is, it is part of the world today. I admit I do watch a good War show on FX called Over There and I have watched lots of good war movies. Violance is a big part of our society today. But I think that most of us wish that wars didn't need to be fought. Some people belive that most of them don't. I think the last real war was WWII. I mean no disrespect to the military or the troops only the people who decide to risk American's lives when it wasn't nesacary.

So who wins a war? Nobody both sides lose it is when one side has lost to much that they give up. Wow a real war has broken out on this site. That being said I'm going to give my thoughts on the bombing of Japan.

First of all Japan started the war with us. I will also note that there are many views of history and what we learn in school may not be entirely true. My understanding is that we almost didn't respond but in the end the vote game to declare war on Japan. I was taught that the Bomb is what endend the war. It was brutal people got evaporated and shadows got burned onto walls. The real question is was droping the bomb worth it. I belive that a war should be between the military and Not the people of the country cause they are not fighting. But if they are helping to make weapons and suppling the army then they may not be innocant. When ever possible civilians should be left out of it. But that is almost imposible to do. The real problem is nobody knows. From the US side yeah it was it endend the war and saved US lives. The question of was it right is way to complicated to answer. Is it right to fight forces that we belive are evil probalby but for some people killing is wrong and we should not kill no matter what the threat. All answers are really theoretacal because no one knows what would have happend if the bomb wasn't droped. How many more people would have died in the war? What if Japan would have developed the bomb then nuked us. Some people belive that they where working on it and would have gotton it soon and used it on us. That is why they defend the bomb. To be honest I don't know if droping the bomb was the right thing to do or not. It is to bad that we did it, but it is also to bad we lost all those lives at perl harbor, it is to bad we had to fight in WWII. I don't think that we really have enough information to know if it was better to drop it or not.

What I can say is after the war was over. There where lots of restrictions on how much money Japan could spend on there army. I belive that they took that money and fixed there destroyed factories and took money that would have gone into the Army and put it into the country and that is why they are so powerfull now. I think the war taught them how to adapt. Japan is known for taking something and making it better. For example the VCR was invented by an american but he didn't know what to use it for so he sold it to a Japanese guy and now they make all the good vcrs. Maybe if we spent less money on waring and put that money into our country we would be a lot better place to live. I know some people who are varry anti war and they said one good thing did come from droping the bomb. Everyone learned that it was a mistake and it will never be droped again. At least that is one good lesson that came out of it. Could you imagine if we would have Nuked Vietnam and Russia we would all be dead now most likely but who knows for sure.
