So I have never been to Ulrich's Tavern but I guess there are many that have and it is supposed to be pretty good and isn't it one of the places that was on one of those food shows... So some time back in August I read that it was shut down... (e:paul) has a post about it.. So I saw this in Today's Buffalo news and thought I would share.. We shall see.... Oh that reminds me quickly Elmwood Festival of the arts is this weekend hope to go for a bit......

After being seized for unpaid taxes three weeks ago, Ulrich’s Tavern has filed for bankruptcy and announced plans to reopen Sept. 4.

Owner James Daley confirmed that the iconic Ellicott Street bar and restaurant will hold a reopening party beginning at 3 p.m. Sept. 4, sponsored by Flying Bison Brewery. Lunches will resume Sept. 5, dinners Sept. 6.

Daley said he has met with several financial and professional advisers to come up with a plan to better handle the business side of the restaurant and has found ways to run a “much financially tighter ship.”

“There was never a lack of effort on anyone’s part, it was more not understanding some financial realities,” Daley said. “We always just thought if we worked harder, we could overcome it.”

Going forward, Ulrich’s will have a smaller menu of core items, will offer fewer specials and cut staff. It will still offer German specialties and popular staples such as beef on weck.

“We’re going to do fewer items and make sure we can do them really well and do them efficiently and cost-effectively,” Daley said. “We had so many items that we had to pay more people to work in the kitchen than there was money coming in.” Daley has vowed to adhere strictly to labor and food cost goals, and to make tough, smart business decisions about what the restaurant can afford. “It sounds so simple, it’s Business 101, but when you’re working 12 hours every day and you’re in the battle, it’s hard to step back and look at it,” Daley said. “Being shut down for three weeks, I’ve been able to look at it and say, ‘How could that have ever worked?’”

Ulrich’s Tavern Inc. filed a Chapter 11 petition Thursday in U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of New York. The filing lists the business’ estimated assets as $50,000 or less and its estimated liabilities from $100,000 to $500,000. Among its list of creditors holding the largest unsecured claims are the state Department of Taxation & Finance at $205,000 and the Internal Revenue Service at $65,000.

The restaurant was shut down Aug. 4 on seven outstanding warrants of unpaid withholding and sales tax.

A 2011 tax return included in the filing showed Ulrich’s operated at a loss of $20,432 for the year. A profit and loss sheet showed the business operating $7,537 in the red for the period ending May 20.

Ulrich’s filed for bankruptcy before in 1994.

That bankruptcy was later discharged in 1998.

Ulrich’s Tavern is considered the oldest continuously running bar in Buffalo, first established in 1868. Daley’s parents ran the business starting in the 1950s, before Daley bought the business and took over in 2000.

So the other day I had my camera with me on the way to work and it was very foggy.. Yes the day I was hoping to eat with the (e:peeps)... Honestly I wanted to but I was feeling pretty gross from work.. Plus the hoodie still had like cat hair on it and gross so...












Now near where I work I noticed some art work not sure what it is about..Kinda looks like a mug shot? Then since we are on the topic or urban art. There are tags on the train that I got.. None of them are like the really fancy ones (didn't see them) that some artists do with like a spray can worked in or like where the name is spelled out in bricks or a picture is mixed in .......





















The Occupy Movement is still not done? They make a point about locking up the bankers.. They did get bailed out and none of that money they got helps us?





Not sure whom covered this on the net but I guess some of this style of tagging got people in Allentown all upset ...... Here is what I got...














I myself am more of a fan of the spray paint art then say like words or like murals... But stuff that is put on purpose or allowed isn't the same as someone hitting a mailbox or gangs putting up names or something.. But maybe that area doesn't want to take the chance.. But yet the one bar when I was a kid people would get thrown out the front window.. Brick Bar you didn't go to unless you where a tough guy?

EDIT: I need to mention that last graphic I couldn't get all of between the fence and the trees.. It might be tough for anyone to... Well unless of course the gate was open... So go buy and take a look......

So Yes the fair is still going on :) ... So I thought that I would post some pictures of the Animals of the Erie County Fair... Now of course this is only of the ones I saw... There is an entire competition ring where horses trot and do stuff like that ...That I didn't see....

Now the thing that is great about Fairs I assume the state fair is like this and even fairs that are different is that they have things for all different people.. There is the Fried Food, Games, Rides, shows, shopping (yes all kinds of cool things you can get), The Animals, Animal Events and grand stand events as well.... Um did I mention the food not just the deep fried stuff... Yes trying new stuff can be a bit scary cause it might not all be made the same... But here are a few pix.. Ok more then a few ....

Yes the doughnut Burger ... I never did get it last year.. Tastes like a burger with a glazed doughnut it was tasty...
































Ok I admit the last two foods are kinda odd... I had to try the Chocolate bacon.. Now it was good but strange it was kinda like a sauce and I like mine cooked more soft but that is just me... The other thing was good and odd and liked the dipping stuff but couldn't tell you the flavor.. Chicken Fried bacon... I wasn't brave enough to try the deep fried butter ... Bet it could have been great.....

So this weekend was the first weekend of The Erie County fair... It is going to have to be multiple posts... But I figured not just for (e:tinypliny) but for anyone who does yoga these acrobats of course they are women so they do have a bit more flexabilty I could be wrong on that but I thought there was some way the pelvis lines up or something sorry can't remember in any event for now here is their performance.. sorry if the pictures look over exposed a bit...




























In terms of the bending and body control stuff that above is the main part of it but they do so much more.....

So I admit I Haven't been infringing like I should..Part of that is the olympics and Social Media and work and the heat... Now this isn't part of infringement and again sorry for not posting pix up here of that yet... but if you are on facebook you can see them....But last night there where a few things going on wonder if they set the world record for Zombies at the ball park.. The reason I didn't go is that to get made up then go home on a bus.. Doesn't sound like a good idea.... Plus it sounded like they would be through out the ball park and not like in one area so... There was an art thing at 424 and Lloyd's but went with Skiffle....



















I guess this Is a good time to mention two things... They are adding things like a big railing to sportman's I can't imagine the snow removal on that ... and also (e:lindyfix) was there dancing and will be in some pictures coming up.....

So with going out to Wham Bam Poetry Slam II and watching the olympics I only got a couple hours in at the garden walk... Now I will post pictures from that but gotta figure out the best way... I'm kinda thinking to do the Slide show thing since I have so many... But for now the garden walk.....
























































I've seen this house change so much on the outside it is a pretty rad looking place....























So I took pictures with my bigger camera and most of the time it can tell when the picture is the other way so hope that all those pictures are oriented the right way....
















































Well we shall see... I guess this is a good showing of what I saw...

So last weekend I didn't post about it but went to go see the new spiderman movie... It is the spiderman story everyone doesn't know about I know I didn't know much of it but it was pretty good.... Even Though I have never thought they had the exact fit for Peter Parker.. Yeah Tobie or is it Toby was good once I started watching fringe that that kid might have been better except he came of not really as a kid... I liked how in the last movie the did the hinting at the other goblin well guess that isn't happening...

When Batman Begins came out it was very good... I mention it cause they kinda restarted the franchise... Now maybe it was just in this mood I was in. But I thought Dark Night Rises was amazing... Can't give anything away other then that They linked the story lines together... There was just one part I didn't get but I think I understood not 100% sure... Walked in and walked out about 3 hours later :) I mean from the other movies... And they did some what I call wink and nod to future movies or at least story lines...Action Story I thought it was pretty amazing.... I said the mood thing so I'll mention it here... On the way to the show it hit me that one thing about being an adult is how some things lose being special.. Going to the movies is cool.. But as a kid it is like a treat you look forward to.. Oh mom can we get popcorn ..No we are eating after the movie...Things like that.. Yeah Doritos are cool but when you have a snack for every sporting event....

Now I have to mention Superman... Couple years ago they came out with what I thought was a good superman movie...Well not sure what happened to this guy but there is a new one out well new preview at least.. No idea if the Man of steel is a new take or remake or how you would call it....



That should be the one they showed .... I can't post trailers all day but I also think the next Tarantino movie could be great...



Now back to things at hand... I can't just post about this movie with out talking about the killings... Now both sides can make a point on gun control based on the mass shooting... Now what happened to the guy who knows... Maybe He really loved bane or is it bain or maybe he thinks that was a put down of the company :( ... Who knows but as much as I'm a Fan of the darknight one can see how in real life that villain does have a pull to him I could almost feel a bit of the occupy movement to the extreme in him... So for some people it was an unwanted real life real 3D event and that is to bad.... There is a part of me that thinks this could cause all kinds of security issues going forward.... That would be to bad at the 10:15 AM show I didn't notice anything... Did I mention how fun this movie was..Lots of yes moments but maybe that is just me....

So I don't know what to do picture wise of the home run derby I don't really think it would translate right as a blog really... Plus not sure if one could tell whom people really are so for now I'm skipping that :( oh well maybe I'll nah I won't i know I won't but who knows... But with the all star game I'm not really even sure whom the players are... I only watch the bisons so I'll start with the post game fire works that where donated ... Not sure how that works guess that gets the name out there of the fireworks company?





























































Fireworks where from last to first... The league the bisons aren't in won.. Guess I should do all the pageantry. Doug Allen guy who sings for sabres games sung both anthems....




























































Ok that is plenty it was a good time..... Even with all the people who wouldn't wait till a play stopped to get up or return to their seats... Odd game but fun....

I feel that no matter how many photos I post (Can't post one's I didn't take)that the atmosphere doesn't really translate.... You have people with sheets and blankets and tables and wine and it is bit crazy....... Well see how this does.....









































Don't get me wrong sitting on the ground isn't to bad but I needed food and besides often what feels comfortable on the ground isn't when one gets up..........
































I guess that shows it off pretty well.... I have to figure out what I want to do about the all star game that I went to on Wends and the Monday Home run derby......
