Estrip SSL

You can now use the SSL version of estrip.org if you are somewhere sketchy or don't want people snooping on your activity. Godaddy had a good deal on SSL certs so I bought 5 years worth for estrip.org for $65. This doesn't mean that I don't want to fulfilll my dream for making a buffalo based free and local SSL provider. But for the prices of $12.99/year I could not beat it. It also helped that vimeo and youtube both now have https services. Previously that was always an issue with SSL and blogging.

Estrip Now Virtual On The New Server

If you are seeing this entry you are visiting estrip on its new centos 6, kvm based virtual guest on the new server. It probably doesn't mean much to most people but it is an exciting step forward in technology for me. I was up till around 5am getting everything moved. I still have a few finishing touches but most functionality works as expected.

The way virtual technology works I shouldn't have to spend much time moving estrip in the future and migrating it to a new host should be trivial.

Sorry about the outage

Someone plugged a high power dehumidifier into the same ups that the server was on and drained all the power. Should be okay now.

Fixed Signup Bug

I fixed the signup bug. It was caused by a change to the USPS site that I was using to validate the zip codes. They changed the site and the validation wasn't working any more. Thanks for reporting it (e:heidi) and Jolene.

In Terms of book of face: Now there are sometimes people on there who aren't on (e:strip) so the only pictures that get tagged are like Tony, Matt, Terry, Heidi, maybe Cyndi and me if I get myself a couple people who I know well and then there are some people who I know not to tag... The best way is to just tag Matt and terry and then people who know them or know people who know them and where at the party if they want can get pictures of them selves or check out the party Pictures... Also in the past there have been pictures that didn't go up on book of face........

So I will not tag you in anything and I also won't say like see that girl next to her well not her but the other one or anything like that....

estrip.org android app update

I updated the android app

You can find it by searching the marketplace on you android device. The new version allows you to back out with the back button and return. I also saves the category, title, entry, pics selected when you leave the app without publishing so that you can come back to it as requested.

There are thing on here that have no reason and that shouldn't be on facebook so sharing means some of those could be on there..... I don't think this is a facebook, (e:strip), Twitter thing I think it is tech end thing that .... There isn't like a program where you like grab you data (pictures or what ever) compose it and it posts it everywhere.....

Some Updates

Logins last 1 year from the same IP unless you explicitly log out or empty your cookies.
You can share blog entries with facebook, twitter, or email with links at the bottom of each journal.
If you scroll the front page in the latest firefox or chrome beta you see more comments and chat.
Clicking on pictures in blogs loads full size, if it exists.
Clicking use as title in topic idea box, transfers topic to title of new journal.
