The upload button and chatter

Adobe release Flash Player 10 today

It has a bunch of new security protections and a bunch of new features.

It also effected the way that the surebert flash player multi-file uploader worked. The new version I reprogrammed the other night is flash player 10 compliant. Luckily, I jumped on that because I had no idea they were going to launch it today.

If you don't have at least flash player 9 if will put a link there instead of the upload button.

While I was in there I also updated the chatter so that you can use ampersands and pluses.

Browser Stats for estrip

Firefox still is the top. Look how few people visit with safari. Reading mac news sites you would think it was like 90% of the web, lol.

Chrome is still nothing

However, I am srprised to see how many people are using IE 6 but then I realize that Roswell Park, where a bunch of us work, is still stuck back in 2001 browser technology land and it makes sense.

The cost of estrip this month

Holy crap. My first FIOS bill from Verizon to serve estrip came today and it is $321!!

That is for one month and some weeks of service, plus setup fee, plus router, plus taxes. It looks like it will be about $115.00/month. So if anyone wants to/can donate that would be awesome as I pay for that all out of pocket. You can donate by clicking on the donate link above the userpics to the right.

The move is complete

The new server is now running over at (e:fing)'s It should be much faster than before. Tell me if you notice anything weird.

Now that I pay $100/month for estrip.org you all should entertain me with more journals or donate.

Estrip Downtime on thursday

There might be some downtime for estrip.org on tuesday. I am going to be moving to server from Artvoice to a private residence on a new business FIOS acct I opened for estrip. This might cause some downtime depending how I end up doing the DNS switchover.

Don't worry - nothing will go be lost - the server is just physically moving locations.

Estrip short outage possible

Paul,

Just a heads up, one of our two T1 circuits is totally out, so we're essentially running at half speed. Just in case you noticed any slowdowns, that'd be why... I just discovered there isn't so much as link lights from the telco on the circuit card so not good news...

I'm working with Level3 to see what's up - they did warn they might have to do "intrusive troubleshooting" - i.e. take the circuit offline and test it in loopback mode. Last time we had a problem like this, they insisted on testing the good circuit as well as the trouble one, leaving us totally disconnected... so if they go that route again there might be a brief (few minutes) of total outage. Here's to hoping not... that's all I know so far though, but figured I'd pass it on.

Quick Stats Overview of Estrip

So I have been doing lots of Adobe Flex stuff and I wanted to see what version of flash player people had to see if it was worth using Flex for estrip dev and I noticed that the Flash 9 player is used by 99%+ of userw. That is some seriously insane market penetration. Thanks youtube and xtube. I freakin love Flex. I am so excited about like more excited than I have been about anything web in so long.

Here are some visitor stats

Notice that Firefox is now more popular than IE!

Over one year, the traffic is steadily growing.
