So for those of you that didn't know this, in 2003, (e:strip) started out as my Thesis project for my Masters In Fine Arts at UB. It is finally almost time for me to hand in my thesis. In order to complete it I will need some feedback from you guys.

Here are some of the questions, you can just post the answers on your journals. Please post the answers before friday, June 19th. Include a link to this journal so I can see the connection. I still have a surplus of magnetic (e:strip) bumper stickers. Does anyone not have one that wants and/or needs one? I have been sticking them on random cars at this point to try and get rid of them.

I updated the autosave system so that it you don't need to check the box and it saves anytime you type a letter. The most you will lose is the last letter you typed. Because it is not on a timer, it will never save over something you typed, accept with something you typed. As soon as you start typing you can see it is saving because the restore button turns red.

I promise to make a better sound player very soon. The new one under the userpics is temporary. But better than what was there.

I am in the process of updating the site to my new javascript libraries. I am going to certify that everything works in IE 6 and the latest firefox. Safari is going to be tested at the end. Hopefully, it works already, if not use firefox.

You shouldn't notice much of a change yet, as there are no specific new features but this will provide a great framework for new features. PNG support in IE 6 is upgraded. The major difference will be the speed at which I can develop and integrate new stuff and keep track of my own developments.

The mobile video player is now much more sophisticated and look nicer. Just hit the (e:video) button to begin playing them. You can seek to any point in the video even one that hasn't loaded by dragging the little triangle.

If you don't already have firefox on automatic update you should, but if you don't you should upgrade to version 1.5.0.4 right away. They fixed a lot of bugs and some security issues that were pretty scary.



Firefox is the official browser of estrip.

New (e:strip) To Go Club
On another note I am thinking about making a feature this weekend to allow you to post a message to the "go" group, then anyone who has email or sms enabled for mobile phone and is also in the go group will receive a message saying where you are/are going.

E.g You send a message form your phone or computer saying, "I am going to spot coffee at 1:30" then anyone else in the "go" group gets that mesage on their mobile or other people can check the messages on the site. Think of it as an IM away message with real life meeting potential. Would anyone use this? If I collect the data over time, I should be able to start peecasting where people will be. So we could have peep advisories.

e.g. There is a 60% change of 3 or more peeps being at the pink this thursday night.

Would anyone use this. If not, I am not going to bother until we have more people.

epad update
I set it so you can quickly get to your epad at estrip.org/.epad

I should probably update the functionality soon seeing as it is about 3 years old. I still find it incredibily useful for storing stuff on the go or when switching between computers. Just think of it as a secure notepad to go.

(e:ajay) who works at yahoo wrote to me suggesting I use yahoo maps instead of the links to google maps that occur when you use the link tag in your journal. At first I was skeptical because I tried out the AJAX based maps and it was throwing some errors or conflicting with some of the sites other javascript. It also had this bug when you scrolled over it, down the journal, it would think you were zooming in and out on the map.

So I went to the yahoo API site, switched to the flash API and its all set. I love it, these are freakin' great. Now we have inline maps right in the journals. I will add some code so you can add other data to your map point.
