A new look for fall

I created a new fall look for the sitel. We can all rest assured that it will not last long as I already have the snow pictures waiting to put up. Sadly enough, soon we will be back to winter blue!

If your browser doesn't like to the fall picture, make sure to empty your cache so that the images can update.

Autocorrect - Only for Firefox Users

For now the autocorrect features have turned off for all browsers accept firefox on all three platforms. I don't have the time to test it in the three million other browsers/users out there and firefox is free.

I will be doing the same thing for other new DHTML features and then adding support to other browsers as time permits.

New Icons, New Feature

I redid the icons at the bottom of the journals because I was dissatisfied with the old ones. If you roll over the icons, a litle tooltip will pop up and tell you what it is. The most significant change is that the green pen has become a little black typerwriter instead.

Printing Journals
You can now access a printable version of your journal entries by clicking on the little green printer icon at the bottom of any journal. This will take you to a black and white page that is very printer friendly. Once there just click on the printer to print the page. The printer icon will dissapear once you click on it, so that it does not get printed.

Images in your journal will show up on the printed page. If you do not want them to print with the journal, simply click on the images and they will dissapear. I also added that feature to your regular journal view.

I added the journal title to the top 12

Updates - If you roll over the top twelve you should see the titles of the journals listed as little tool tips pop ups. I also added a preference to turn the auto correct off if it is giving you a problem. Please send me an email if you notice any problems with it.

Coffee & Fire

I just drove by Coffee & and it was like completely burned down. The builiding was still there but looked pretty badly burnt. There were news crews there covering it but it looks like the fire happened earlier, last night perhaps? Anyone know what happened? Arson (an angry competitor pehaps?), Accident? How sad! I hope they rebuild and reopen.

Spelling Error Reduction

I added a new autocorrection feature to the journal. I fixes certain common spelling errors as you type. I will add customization features in the near future. If you notice that the journl is correcting your simple spelling errors as you type don't be frightend.

One Million Words Approaching

We are getting so close to having a million words.

Currently Total Words: 996833

I can't even believe it. I remember when it crossed a million characters [inlink]news,132[/inlink] back in February of 2004. There is a big difference between a milion letters and a million words. As (e:ajay) pointed out earlier, that doesn't even inlcude the chat!

New Update Part One

In celebration of our move to the oh so awesome server we are currently on, I have updated the spell check to be the most kick-ass spell check that javascript and php could bring you. To use it simply click on the red and green "spell check" button at the bottom of your journal publish box.

The spell check is much more robust now and and is much more accurate in its suggestions. It highlight words it thinks are wrong in red and right next to it prints what it thinks is the right word in green. Most of the time it is right. If it is and you click on the green word, the correct spelling will automatically be transferred into your journal. What could be easier.

If the green word is not the correct one, roll over the red one to see more choices, then click on the correct choice from the suggestions box to the right to update your journal with that spelling.

I have tested it with Netscape 7, IE 6 Win, and Firefox 1.0. If anyone has any trouble feel free to email (e:paul) or IM me at 'paulsidekick'
