One Million Words Approaching

We are getting so close to having a million words.

Currently Total Words: 996833

I can't even believe it. I remember when it crossed a million characters [inlink]news,132[/inlink] back in February of 2004. There is a big difference between a milion letters and a million words. As (e:ajay) pointed out earlier, that doesn't even inlcude the chat!

New Update Part One

In celebration of our move to the oh so awesome server we are currently on, I have updated the spell check to be the most kick-ass spell check that javascript and php could bring you. To use it simply click on the red and green "spell check" button at the bottom of your journal publish box.

The spell check is much more robust now and and is much more accurate in its suggestions. It highlight words it thinks are wrong in red and right next to it prints what it thinks is the right word in green. Most of the time it is right. If it is and you click on the green word, the correct spelling will automatically be transferred into your journal. What could be easier.

If the green word is not the correct one, roll over the red one to see more choices, then click on the correct choice from the suggestions box to the right to update your journal with that spelling.

I have tested it with Netscape 7, IE 6 Win, and Firefox 1.0. If anyone has any trouble feel free to email (e:paul) or IM me at 'paulsidekick'

Search Engine Redo

I redid the search engine. Searching should now be much more convenient. The search results open in a new window, similar to the (list all journals) window. Each search result show the 150 characters of the entry. External links within the first 150 words are converted to links. Both the external links and actual entries open in the main window. You can start new seacrhed from within the results window.

The last 80 unqiues searches are displaye dat the end of the list.

In case anyone missed it

In the chat today a guest posted:

guest 13:06 : to terry, and all the other lame asses who oppose progress. Panos has been contributing to the buffalo economy for years. the dilapidated buiding next to the restaurant is coming down! Dont knock someone just because there successful and your stuck washing dishes.

That is some serious classist bullshit! Elmwoodstrip.com appolgizes on behalf of any dishwasher out there who read that.

To mak ethis even more ridiculous, someone using the same computer as the one who posted that guest post, went ahead and made a review of Kosta's on the restaurant site

Come on. Why slander Kosta, he had nothing to do with this!
