Leopard multifile upload fix

Adobe labs released a new mac flash player today that address the file upload problem with leopard and flash player that I reported in (e:news,41833). Now all you leopard users including myself can go back to using the normal file upload system!

Just download and install it. Make sure you have you browser off when installing. It will prompt you about that.

e:name and punctuation play nice

So I finally had a good half hour to fix some stuff that has been bothering me. Yesterday it was the comments popping out the bottom pf the journal text area and today I finally fixed the stupid punctuation with e name link problem.

Now I can say things like, "Damn I am so jealous of (e:paul,40879)'s lobster dinner last night." and not have to worry about the apostrophe.

Same with listing off peeps such as in the sentence "I wish I could be as gay as (e:matthew), (e:paul) and (e:terry)!"

Bug Fix

They just came out with a real mozilla based browser for my favorite mobile device, my "not phone" - the nokia n800. I was using it to surf estrip and I wanted to test flash stuff because it has flash player 9 but I couldn't see the usersound player. Then I realized it was just missing - so I fixed it.

Bug Fixes

Fixed the search results bug. Try searching for holly hunter or "holly hunter" now using the main search link above.

There was a bug in the alt tags which was resulting in all images in each journal entry having the alt tag of the first image in the entry. This has been fixed.

Some Bug Fixes

1. The months cloud list now only loads journal from the month selected. Before it started with the month selected and went back 10 journal entries even if they were in another month which made it repeat entries between months for people with less than 10 entries per month.

2. The surebert upload feature now should not trigger a "script is running too long" flash alert when uploading larger files or large amounts of files.

3. When using the search box on a journal (located above each userpic on a journal) you can now use the show all option, previously the most results you could view was 100.

I hate making changed before I leave for a trip but I had time today - lets hope for the best.

Sorry about that multi image bug today

The multi-file image upload is back. I would have fixed it earlier in the day but I had to go get drunk at Thursday n the Square first. For future reference, whenever something is broken on the main site, you can always do almost everything from the mobile site. e.g. upload images, publish journals, read comments, chat, messages, etc

The bug
For the technies out there you might find it interesting that as of firefox 2.0.0.3 you cannot use the externalInterface calls on flash objects from javascript unless the flash file is showing. It took me forever to figure that out. That is dumb as far as I am concerned. I can't even tell if it is a bug or a feature seeing as they don't mention it anywhere.

Anyhow, to get around it I move the 1px wide flash files around so that it is always in view in the newest version of surebert.sticker.js once, you see it, it can go out of view and still work. So much for that. The new version of surebert took advtage of this but I had forgot to upgrade to that version when I made the changes last night.

I know I keep saying I have all this updates coming but I really do I am just waiting on having a new powerbook later in June so that I can easily test all the operating systems at once. The key will be having 3GB of ram!

The newest surebert 1.56 forgoes the obfuscation and just strips comments, gzips and caches the js files. They just as fast and it is all automated. In the new version of estrip the css will done the same.

So it works again. Have fun.

Quick fix for Explorer Comments

I fixed the IE error that would not let you open up a new comment. It appears that IE reports an image as having a href property. That is lame. I was using it like if the thing you clicked doesn't have an href use its parents href. But because the image was falsely reporting having an href property it was opening the image instead of the comment box. All the other browsers handled it properly. Instead of asking if it had an href property I asked if it did not have an src property.
