oFF to Taste

Well I'm heading out to the taste of Buffalo Now. I hope the wether stays nice. I wished to get there sooner but I had some online stuff I had to do. I wonder how it's new location is going to be it should be interesting. I know I will need to get money to $10 will go fast if it is nice out. Last night I watched I, Robot and really enjoyed it. It seemed like it would have Beeen a good Animee. On thursday I had a blast at The Tea Party concert. I wish I would have bought a ticket for Friday's show also. I'm not sure what bands are playing today and tommarow. But if there are any I like that would be a cool added bonus.

Pano's In Buffalo News

Mayor promises legal battle over Pano's expansion plans

Andrew Norman/Buffalo News
A State Supreme Court ruling has paved the way for razing this 1893 house next door to Pano's restaurant on Elmwood Avenue.

Mayor Anthony M. Masiello vowed to appeal a State Supreme Court judge's ruling Thursday that allows the demolition of a 19th century house on Elmwood Avenue.
The ruling by Justice Penny M. Wolfgang permits Panagiotis Georgiadis to raze the 1893 building just north of his Pano's restaurant at 1089 Elmwood Ave.

Masiello, who opposes the demolition, said his appeal would be based on his belief that the ruling was a misreading of the city code.

"We are going to appeal because we feel as though we have to protect the integrity of the process," Masiello said. "There will be more issues like this in the future, and we think this ruling damages our ability to do what is right for the city."

Georgiadis was unavailable for comment.

The decision comes over the objections of preservationists and a neighborhood group, who have said the building's distinctive turret and Medina sandstone contribute to the historic character and quality of life on Elmwood.

The state Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation concluded last year the building could be eligible for the National Register of Historic Places.

"This casts an absolute pall on the ability of neighborhoods to protect themselves from unwanted development," said Timothy Tielman, who leads the Campaign for Greater Buffalo's History, Architecture and Culture. "The project goes against everything neighborhood groups have tried to develop in their plans for Elmwood Avenue."

Georgiadis originally applied for the demolition permit on Sept. 10, 2004. He claimed years of student housing had made the building cost-prohibitive to repair, and later indicated he would use the space to expand the restaurant's patio and surface parking area.

The Buffalo Preservation Board, in its advisory position, rejected Georgiadis' request following a public hearing. A member of the Preservation Coalition of Erie County presented 3,554 signatures on petitions opposing the demolition.

In her ruling, Wolfgang agreed with Georgiadis that the building deserved no special protection since it is not a designated landmark nor located within a historic district.

She also said Raymond K. McGurn, commissioner of the Department of Permit and Inspection Services, failed to follow city code by rejecting the demolition request, and took him to task for calling on Georgiadis to provide a site plan for re-use

Movies and 4th

Last night I watched wrestling and fliped back and fourth between the Televised fireworks. What I saw looked verry cool. I didn't go anywhere to watch them. Besides I heard tons of the illegal kind going off in my neighboorhood..

On DVD I watched Spiderman 2. It is a very good movie. Over the weekend The Punisher was on. It is the new one not the original. I thought it was good also. It was my second time seeing it, same with spidey. It was verry nice and violant. At the same time I taped Super Size Me. I finally saw it and I enjoyed it a lot. It was very interesting. Spurlock also has a new series on FX called 30 days. I guess he got the inspiration from his movie. Including himself once so far; People live as some one else for 30 days. I think the show is very interesting I belive it is on wendsday nights. I saw a movie on sundance that is the exact opposite almost but has some tie ins. It is Called Burger America. It is about differant places and famous hamburgers they sell. It was verry interesting. For example one place steams them. The mentioned the famous place in Chicago that they used in the famous "Chesse Burger, Chesse Burger, Chesse Burger" Sketch. They also talked about the Cubs jinx because of not letting the goat into the game. Each place they talked to people and gave a history of the place and how the burgers are made. There was a burger covered with butter, Peanut butter, and one made from longhorns. I found it verry interesting. I also found a new Chanel on cable called LOGO. I belive the site for it is Logoonline.com but Not sure (logoonline) and I think followed by com I'm not sure. From what I understand it is Gay TV. I don't know if that is the right word becuase strights watch it to. Maybe gay programing. But I don't understand why Wonderfalls is going to be on it.

Today I wanted to see both Batman Begins and War of the Worlds. But the times didn't work out so I only saw War of the worlds. I thought it was great. Good story, good action and good effects and distruction. I admit I was a bit surprised at how they told the story and how Tom was portrayed. Any one who saw it knows what I mean(the family), but I won't give any thing away. I don't remember much about the first one it has been a long time so I can't compare them.

Walk 8

First of all I made a slight mistake it was called live 8 not live aid. I guess it actully started around 8am on CTV. I watched them and switched back and forth between MTV/VH1 coverage. I read a review on line that was onpoint. Vh1 took to much time telling you about the event as opposed to showing. For example someone was on stage and the told us who was onstage and we heard the music, they should just show us who is on stage. Bon Jovi was on live and the went to commerical before the song was done. Then Later they Went back and showed a performance of his that all ready happened. What they should have done was the same thing CTV did but with two locations instead of One. You show Philly live then when the music ends you go to london or vice versa. If no one else is live at the time then go to a tape. There covarge could have been a lot better. I didn't see much of it but chanel 7 had a two hour show on at 8pm of it. CTV here chanel 12 on cabel had a greatest hits show from about 8 to Midnight I only saw a little bit of it. What I saw was good but I would have liked to see more. I wonder if they will come out with a complete DVD that will have all the concerts completly covered with all the artists. I know they say it isn't about the money but they do sell some merch so maybe they will.

I did escape to the lovely weather out side today. I returned some bottles to Latina Foods. Then I went to execerd to get pop and video tapes. In my travels I did see some sexy ladies mostly with guys. But I enjoyed my short walk. I was thinking about going to the bisons game but not in the mood so I will watch Supersize me or The Punisher and tape them both. Punisher was very good and I'm finaly able to catch Supersize me. Well I hope everyone has a more exciting and fun 4th then I do. Hopefully on tuesday I will go see War of the Worlds, I also really want to see the New Batman movie it would be cool to go see them both in the same day I havn't seen two shows at a movie house in a long time it can be a lot of fun. I added my school loans to the calculator I put in how much I owe not how much I will have to payback with interest since that might be hard to figure out. I thought I owed a lot wich I do but compaired to others it isn't that much really.

Live Aid

On saturday is Live Aid 8. I admit I had forgotten about it. They want to send a message to The G8 summit and and trying to get ride of poverty. It seems like a good cause to me. I looked it up on AOL and they list the cities and who is performing. I know MTV and VH-1 will be showing the concert live. But what I don't know is who they will show and how all that is determined. MTV and VH-1 might have the same coverage I don't know. I also Know that 1077 the lake will be broadcasting it on the radio. I don't know who they will be playing or how they select it either. I'm not going to either one but there are a couple of good concert events on Saturday. There is one at the innerharbor Firstward Area. I don't know all the bands performing but I know Jackdaw is one of the bands and they are very good. Also The Juliet Dagger is playing in Niagara falls. I don't know where the outlet mall is but that is where they and a few other bands will be performing. I Don't know what I'm doing for the 4th but I hope everyone enjoys the holiday and the long weekend.

travel

One thing that I do like to do is to travel places. There are a lot of places I would love to go but can't Afforid like europe or maybe a long cruise some place tropical. But I think by ones self is easier and less stressfull. I'm trying to find out about goi to toronto. I want to go on a friday so I only miss a day of work. My sister makes more money working on the weekends so she wants to go during the week. I have to find out when others at work are on Vacation. I don't want to take off two days when someone else is off. That isn't fair to the rest of the crew. There arn't that many of us, so it can reallly up the work load. All the coordinating drives me crazzy. I think that is one of the reasons I never call any one. Cause you kinda have to do the same thing well what do ya wana do, what day is best for you, ok what movie time and what movie and all that drives me crazzy sometimes. Maybe it is just the heat who knows. But I doubt it. All that give and take stuff is anoying.

Tech Support Philosphy

First of all This is going to be a rant so be warned, well it won't get to angery but it kinda touchs on another post of mine. I am having problems with secure sites. Aol has been very helpfull but nothing we have done has fixed the problem. So I figure lets try dell. Now we have tech support but it only covers the hardware. So if you want software coverage you have to pay another fee. But the thing is with dell you buy all the software from them. You go to there site and custmise the way you want your computer and what software you want. So I think it is bullshit. I think most tech support if it is for TV's or Cars is Bullshit, if something breaks in the first 3 years or goes bad. It should be free to get help. The buyer shouldn't be penalised because there is a bug, a glitch or something wasn't made right. I do understand that there are some wear and tare issues in terms of cars. But if something goes wrong you shouldn't have to pay for some guys time. You should be able to take your lemon of a ford back to ford and have them fix the problem. But it seems that there is this new attitude about stuff that if something goes wrong it is the consumers fault. I think the philosephy is all wrong. I understand you can't guarentee a TV for 10 years. But a 90 day waretntee is a joke. What if something goes wrong on day 100. But yet all these stores will sell you a longer guarentee. Bullshit you have insurance if it is defective or something goes wrong with it fix it. If it is something I cause and you find I caused it then yeah it is fare to charge me. What gets me even more pissed is some of these stores that have a stocking fee charge. Hello fuckers you have stock boys that is what they do they take it to your car for free but you return it you have to pay them, What the fuck is that. I'll tell ya what I'll put it back in the warehouse those guys have nothing else better to do anyways. They are paid to do a job let them do it and don't give them a bonus cause I returned something. I think everything that is sold should have a real and fair minimuim time that it should last with out problems. Price is a factor in that. If a VCR goes bad within 3 months maybe you get a replacement or something. My point is that manufactures and stores should be responsible for quality, don't shelp it off on the buyer. I hope this attitude changes.

Hot Weekend

I admit it has been very hot lately. But to be honest I would rather have that then the rainy summers we sometimes have here. But it does tire you out at work and you need to keep filling up with water. I had A good time at The Artvoice street Fest on sunday. I saw and heard some good bands and saw some dancing. A lot of the bands I had never heard of. I enjoyed The Rabies they where good. Just before 7 i left and went down to the Gus Macker. They where having a few bands down there. I guess I missed the opening band. Yeah I skiped Government Mule for The Juliet Dagger. Fat apple performed and a band I realy wound up liking called Mincus or maybe Minkiss not sure how it is spelled. But who I went to see was The Juliet Dagger. They did a short set but it was good. It was a small crowd. I don't think to many people knew about it. I learned about it that morning on myspace. Plus they where on at the same time as something that was heavly advertised in fact a couple peoople either from PA or CAnada (simalur acents) asked how to get there and I told them. The band before the Juliet Dagger said they where going to see Gouvernment Mule and some people left the show, that was funny but kinda wrong. It was a weird vibe but a good vibe. I havn't downloaded my pictures yet but Maybe I will remember to upload them once I do.

Upset

First of all this color I would call lemon or maybe lemon merange Pie, unsure but I like it it is kinda calming. But I'm still upset about a few things. Today I wake up and my ear is fealing unpluged but ringy still. So I go out to go up to the bank and enjoy the weather and maybe take out some cash and go buy Tea Party tickets. It seems as soon as a start walking and enjoying my self Bam there comes the ear pain. Then as I walk up Brynt some guy some guy is yelling to me like he knows me. I don't know this guy with braids and a dewrag. But I look over anyways and basicly I say I don't know him then he askes me if I smoke weed. What the fuck it isn't even 11am. If I want weed I will go find it don't come up to me. Don't get me wrong but I think it should be legal. One reason why is that if it where legal you would go and buy it from a store, not have people come up to you on the street when you have something else to do. With the ear ache I just went home. Maybe I'll go up to the bank later and find some good food on elmwood. the other reason I'm pissed is I can't get secure sites to work. Plus I get a pop up when I'm off line. My mother was in contact with AOL and they told her to do all sorts of things and nothing worked. Then we call Dell and guess what Customer Service only covers the hardware. If you want tech support for the software there is another completly differant charge. So We ddcide to do that and the guy gives me a couple things to try and I try them and find spyware and get rid of all the spyware, and guess what I still can't get secure sites. So I have to call them back again. Plus there is guarenty that they can solve the problem, they claim that most of them do get fixed. Maybe I did something wrong but I think I did what the guy said I wrote it all down. My mother tried to get netscape and and netzero and neither one of them will work. So I'm a little pissed right now.

Streetfest

Sunday is the Artvoice Streetfest. Or at least that is what I read on line. I thought it was two days last year but maybe my memory is wrong. It is downtown again. I will at least check it out and see what is there. It is fun to go to and they have bands and crafts and dancing. But with my messed up ear I may stay away from the loud music. In any event it should be fun.
