Protest

[inlink]jessbob,59[/inlink] I think there is a protest in front of Pano's at noon on saturday. I may go to it. I'm not a big protest person. I do belive the House should not be nocked down. I do belive it is a big mistake. I love pano's but don't go there very often like I would like to. Now I won't go at all. One thing I don't like about protests is I feal like i'm being watched. Protests usaly only show one side that of the protesters. That being said I may have to go anyways.

Signed it

I signed the online petition. It would be cool if there was also an offline one that others who don't have internet access could sign. But I understand that going door to door is tough. It also means explaining your politcal view on saving old buildings to people who may not be receptive. But an internet petition is still good.

I'm so glad it is thursday. 3 days off Yes! I may go to the falls I don't know what I'm doing yet. Sunday is football day of course.

The Train and main

[inlink]jessbob,57[/inlink] The Rapid transit is not what killed Downtown Buffalo. What hurt downtown is the fear of young blacks and school kids and Sprawl. The street behind main street works fine. That is how most people get to the Arena. The mall went down hill once The big Chain stores Left Like The Bon-ton and others. Then all the teenagers hung out in the maill. That pushed away the people who worked downtown from going there. The courtyard mall was cool but it left and turned into the malls foodcourt kind o' sort of. The movies downtown decided they wanted to mostly show movies that where for young teens. They pushed out most of the adult movies. Then the few that they did have for adults no one wanted to go because of all the young black teenagers. You know things are bad when two McDonalds and Burger king go out of Buiness. Also the street that goes down to Peral street grill works fine. So meny people come downtown for square and for The chip strip But that isn't enough to make downtown great again. What would have made the train a lot more sucessfull would be if it connected from UB out to the Suburbs. But people out there like at the galleria would yell that it would bring the city out to them. But that would make it work better.

There are 2 kinds of people. Those who use or have used the metro rail. They say it is great. I used to use it a lot it is so much better then then never running nasty main bus.

The second kind are the people who say it goes no where and was a waste of money, Those people never used it. So they don't relise how it hooks all the bus ruoutes togather.

That being said i'm not all for a trolly sdystem on elmwood. I think it is a great idea and would be awesome. I think it would be great to get the cars off of elmwood. But I also think it has to be done the right way. There would have to be a good way to hook it up with buses. Could you imagine taking a bus then having to get off the elmwood bus and then get back on the trolly. It would have to be big or run very often and it would have to have a way to pick up people on wheel chairs. If done the right way I think it is a good idea.

Trolly?

[inlink]terry,309[/inlink] I have a few questions about the trolly service. First of all where would it start and end?; Elmwood is a long street. Would it be free or cost money? How Much would the huge lots cost to park in? Would there be security in the lots. How high would the lots be?, isn't there some ordanices about new buliding heights or levels on elmwood? I think it might be a good idea. But I don't think drivers would use it if they had to pay for the trolly. I also think if they had to pay to park it might drive people away. I think it is a good idea, but I'm not sure how it would be funded.

Sord o' bad day

[inlink]metalpeter,122[/inlink]
I got yelled at in a way by my boss. When I call in I'm supposed to call my ride to Let them know that I won't be coming in. Originaly my ride said "They leave at 4" So that means if i'm not there then they bail. Like the last thing I need to do is call them then call work and leave a message. That assumes I wake up before they leave. It is so dam anoying. What a pain. So I did kinda get into some trouble for missing yesterday. But work its self today other then that was ok. Man where my neck and shoulder meet hurts right now.

I know I Watched some world cup hockey on sunday. S0o I had a relaxed time. I'm glad I only have one more day of work. Oh I forgot on friday I bought new sneakers that I needed badly. All in all it was nice. But it is always a little depressing when You don't do anything for the holiday. I have found out by reading The Beast that there are a bunch of resturants in my neihghboorhood and bars that I want to check out. Maybe theat will be this weekends quest. Not sure Why I post

[inlink]paul,1915[/inlink] I admit that some times I post as a way of venting or releasing stress. Some times I post to tell people about things that are going on. Sometimes I'm replying to something someone else said. Sometimes it is a way of documenting stuff I have done. I also post because people read what I post. If say under views it said 2 or 3 or something like that. Then I would know that no one was reading it. But since people read what I write then I continue to write. Since I read others posts then it is only right to write also. I guess this is the best way to explain it. I know I havn't done a great job of expalining why really, but there are some reasons that I post that i'm not really sure about myself.

The Square

[inlink]paul,1919[/inlink] The Veterans have one major flaw in there anger at the square. Most people look at it as a little park downtown. They don't sit and look at it in silent reflection and ponder all those that died. When people go to a concert and drink and sit on the memorial that is not contour productive to that monument. I have even heard a few performers mention it. If any thing the square brings people down who would not be downtown. So meny more people see it because of the square. I did read that article in the paper today. They need to keep the concert series where it is.

Warm Days inspire business idea

I missed work again today. Watching football and the bisions win last night and more football and a 2 special on starwars on A&E most have tired me out. 3:15am was just to early so I called in sick. I hope no one from work is reading this if they are I'm dead. But if they are then they can steal by business Idea that I came up with the other night I had 2 but i forgot one of them. It is good that I didn't go to work. When I left my house this morning there was a back pack on my steps. I remember that there was a lot of in and out and doors closing and opening last night. So if i would have sleeply walked down those steps I bet I would have steped on it and gone half way done the steps. But wait if I would have hurt my self I would be paid to not work.

After Blue friday (plus inspired today by the great weather) I walked down the chip strip. Only one bar had Hockey on TV and they where playing crappy music. So I came up with a cool idea for Elmwood. An Outdoor Sports and Rock Bar. There would be a huge Patio with multiple TV's Outside. Every sport that was on TV would be shown. Imagine on a Monday Night You could Watch Wrestling and Monday Night Football. On sunday's you could show Multiple games. For fans of Hockey and College Football multiple games would be shown. It would be awesome. Plus you could paly great new rock and some select good classic rock. This Barwould also have multiple TV's inside as well. It would be advertised as a sports and rock bar. Yes there are some bars that play music but the TV are a long way away form the outside or at least that is how it is on the chip strip. I love sports and I like being outside it would be great to have to two combined. There is nothing better than being out in great weather watching sports. When winter came then the outside deck would have a way to be enclosed and heated. If I had the money to do it, I think I could make a killing. Even iuf it didn't make money it is something I think is a great idea and elmwood would be a great place for it.

New Buildings

[inlink]nicholas,56[/inlink] First of all thanks for posting the pics nicholas or nick not sure what you like to be called. I don't know what type of buliding should replace the towers. I like both old aniciant looking bulidings and new modern ones. I think that yes some type of memorial to the Trade Center and to those lost should be included in it. But at the same time the buliding should reflect not only remembering what happened but also moving on. I know there where a bunch of ideas proposed and they where voted on. But I don't really know who got to vote. I guess this design is the one that won. I admit that it does look a little odd. But I think that anything else there would look od also. I think a good skyline has old neat looking buildings and very new cool and interesting buildings. Again I'm not sure what the building should look like. I guess no matter what design was picked there will be some people upset. I think that along with a memorial to those lost to 911 in the building and the cops and the firefighter they should have pictures and designs of all the propossed bulidings to replace the towers and how they did on the voting. Someday who knows 9/11 maybecome a holiday like Pearl Harbor Day. I think it is only fair that people in the future can see other buildings that could have replaced the towers but that where not picked. History is very interesting but it becomes more interesting when you know the entire story not just the dates and the so called line. People need to remember that this buliding is not just in the now it is a piece of history weather they like it or not. Well that is my 2 cents from someone who has never made it to New York the nearest was East Rochelle or what ever that place was called where I went to a swim meet. If I was a New Yorker I'm sure I would feal differantly.
