Upgrade 2 - Comment System

At the request of (e:shawnr) the comment system has been activated. At the request of (e:matthew) an option has been created to turn it of for your own journal. Now everyone can be happy!

Comments are enabled by default. Only logged members of the site can leave comments. Unlogged guests can still send you post-it (if you enabled this in your preferences) and email.

To add a comment to another user's journal entry, click on the (add comment) link at the bottom of any entry. Once there is a comment for a journal, the link changed to say (show/hide/add comments.) This allows you to view currently posted comments on an entry, to add a new comments, or to delete them if you are looking at your own journal.

On another note, I am looking to bring another person onto the team to be in charge of updating help files and greeting and helping new users. Is anybody interested? If you are email, (e:paul)

Becaus eof this and many other major upgrades in the last month, I am moving (e:strip) to version 3.0 to match the wap version.

Today's Updates

Profiles and UserSounds- The profiles have been restyled a bit. I will work on it more later.

Usersounds have been moved to the user profiles. To get to your profile, click on the link in the user stats area under your userpics. From there, if you are logged in, there is a link to edit your profile at the top left. To play your usersound, just click on the link sound link below the userpic on your profile.

Userpics - To update your userpics you can now click on them. Hopefully people figure that out. I have to update the help files about this.

Welcome to Watermelon

This watermelon theme is a new theme based on the new quicker display system. It was inspired by (e:maidencateyes) watermelon comment and this picture of a watermelon rose. I am determined to make one of these now.

p:labs student loans crosses $300,000

So far 10 of you have responded with how much you owe in student loans and we are already up to $311,931. I guess that almost confirms that once everyone enters there values, we will be up to if not more than $1 million dollars.

You can add yours by clicking on the (loans) link on your control panel. EVentually I will make a fun display for it. Maybe a mini flash video game. Depends if I have a job or not, and how I feel about writing my thesis that day!

There were a bunch of updates today, most of them won't be obvious on the surface but I will recap the ones that are.

1. New temporary look while I transition from one display code set to another.
2. p:labs Site Wide Student loan calculator, if you are a member and owe student loans, don't forget to add your in. We are currently at $281,899 with only a couple of us tabulated.
3. Mass messenging system, now allows you to send site post-its to more than one user at a time. I had a hard time deciding about this, but seeing as they are hard coded to come from the user that sent them, I think we can avoid any abuse. SMS is not supported in mass mailing yet, we will see how it goes first before enabling SMS support. This mass messenging feature is only available for members and can be found as a link in your post it control panel.

New - Mass Messages

You now can send post-it messages to mulitple members, making it easier to invite people to parties, announce things, etc. To use this feature, you must be logged in. Click on your post-it control panel and then click on the (send messages) link that appears next to your messages.

From there you can toggle the user list box, select the users you wantto send to and create the message. The message automatically comes from you. If anyone misuses the messaging system, their messaging privileges will be removed.

Messages sent in this format are currently not forwarded to SMS as are regular post-its. I may change my mind on this in the near future.

p:labs Student Loan Calculator

Check it out, I made a a little site wide student loan calculator to see how much we owe in student loans as a group. Each memeber is allowed to input into the chart once. Youc an always delete your entry if you made a mistake or want to remove it.

It is probably some outrageous amount. Do you think it could be $1 million? To get there click on the p:labs link at the top and then click the link to the student loans calc.

Music is Art

I just saw the ntry that (e:metalpeter) wrote [inlink]metalpeter,358[/inlink] about Music is Art Festival 2005 and it reminded me that I wanted to post a link to the event info on the calendar.

Here is a link to the main site . Here is a direct link to the MIA schedule

It has something to do qwith chamleon west music studies. I am not a big fan of the tacky flash website. But musicians arn't necessarily visual artists, haha. Here is a video message from Robbie Goo on their site.

The festival is here

Here is a web gallery I found of images from the event last year. Maybe it is from (e:metalpeter) 's own gallery.

06/08/05 04:30 - ID#30098 Looks for Topic Writers

I posted this to craig's list but then realized that I forgot to post it here where it really matters.

We are currently looking for journal authors for the following topics. I thought by having some topic journals we could allow people to wriet that aren't comfortable with talking about themselves and at the same time get some nice insight into whats going on locally.

Topics we want covered:

Local Food
Local Music
Local Politics
Local Events
Dating in Buffalo
Local Sports
Local History
Local Architecture
Queer Life in Buffalo

We are also looking for other organizations who would like to document the history and progress of their organizations on the site. We can promise you a huge local audience of thousands.

  • Linnie 10/17 06:57 Hi Neighbors - I just bought a groovy renovated carriage house on Linwood Ave, and I'm so excited to live in our wonderful city! The large house in front of the carriage house burned down in the 70's. An article I found about the property cited that 'Matthew' on this site had posted a series of photos called 'Lost Linwood" (article was from 2012). I thought maybe Matthew was still on this site or perhaps someone could help me find the photos. I'd love to see the original house and carriage house
  • joe 09/12 01:54 well maybe the fall and setting up my computer again will get me to post regularly
