Feeling Ok, dating & Ra Ra Riot Show

I had a pretty Ok week at work up until Wednesday of last week. I'm tired and just need some self care at this point of the month. Life has been alright as of late, But honestly it could be so much better but I'm not here to harp on that aspect. I had a pretty great day Wednesday & it felt exceptional for once to be out and about.

After work I just ended up getting something done by mailing out to my friend his CBW T-shirt on his last visit that he forgot. No big deal, but as always it seems getting from Cheektowaga to Hertel is somewhat of a pain now with some of the road construction that is going on these days. But it wasn't a big deal as I was way early for what I was going to do that night.

The occasion that evening? I actually had date with someone that I connected with off of the App Coffee & Bagel. It was someone who moved back to the area from Texas. Her family was from the area, moved her down to the SouthWest when she was 10 & now she got a job here & moved back 2-3 weeks ago. This is the second time I took someone to Daily Planet Coffee Co (maybe it's a sign luck wise?) But I do enjoy a part of the city that still has a bit authenticity & grittiness. It appears that there wont' be a second date, but I felt pretty good about just getting the opportunity to get out there.

Then my mind clicked, There's a show at the Waiting Room. Ra Ra Riot was in town so I hiked it over there. Apparently the show was sold out but some gracious person left a ticket at the will call for someone like myself. I have always done similar & sold tickets for less than face when I had extras so I guess it was some concert karma coming back to me?

Anyway it was an amazing show & it made me happy despite the universe not finding me relationship love.

Baby Steps

So I'm trying to get out of the house & overcome a few fears that I've had over the last 5 years now.

I'm actually out & about today while posting on my phablet iPhone 6 plus. Yeah Not to bring up the old drama about an app but who needs one when you have a big screen & processing power? Although I have to admit I have been posting using the LiveJournal app! Yeah I still check that place just due to a few old friends, I still can't believe it's mostly Russian, who knew?

Anyway with friends dying & life getting crazy collectively I guess my perspective has changed about life. Yes I've had a ton of loss family wise bit sometimes you can't see the forest through the trees when you're in the middle of it. The only way to describe my perspective on life these days is like when jigsaw gave a speech on appreciating your life in a saw movie after someone won a game & survived. In some ways I feel like that after my friend died in Oct.

So maybe my New Year's resolution will be to use this site when I'm out and about in the city? Also have to figure out a way how to upload pictures for work around with flash on an Apple product.

Wine Bar

Tonight (e:Heidi) and I stopped by the Wine bar @ the corner of Virginia & Main. We had a pretty good time, althought the place cleared out at about 1:30am. Thanks to (e:jbeatty) for bringing it to our attention with the initial review & (e:mike) for burning the image into our minds html of what the outside of the place looked like!!! .

I have to admit just from my eyeballing the list, it does have a better selection of wine as opposed to Allen St Hardware. The feature that the guy behind the bar informed us about made me make a note in my future calender. On Sunday every glass is 50% off! Even though (e:jbeatty) initially like the concept that they did NOT have a TV, if I'm going to stop by on a Sunday afternoon, personally I would need a TV to keep me updated on the games. Especially since the time I may actually fit it in it most likely the NFL will be in the middle of playoff season.

cougar attack

So after work tonight I just had a craving for a glass of Merlot. The first place that comes to mind for me that has a descent wine selection is Allen St. Hardware. No problem I love the place and I haven't been there in months. I am just going after working 2 hours of OT and just want to play my usual "invisible man" role, look at the beautiful people and be done with it.

The problem arose when these 5 women in their late 40's & early 50's roll in the joint. From my perspective they belong in some bar like Macaroons, but they did the ghost walk and wanted to unwind. I just freaking hated how they asked me all these questions like what's my name, where do I live, what do I do. Look I just want to drink my wine, look at the people although I have to say not as interesting as I would have hoped, but it was only 10:00.

What drove me nuts was the way they behaved. I experienced 18 year olds behave better at the Transmission Dance Party than they were acting. The worst part is when the 47 year old divorced twice ringleader just screamed @ at ultra high pitch for no apparent reason. Seriously I don't want to hear your Freaking life story about your 2 ex husbands and your kid that is calling you up on a cell phone asking who you are with and such.

What drove me nuts what this ringleader's sister who is "50 & desperate" seriously that is how she was introduced to me as they were probing my marital & relationship status. Just had to bend down at my crotch, 1 inch away from my phone as I was trying to text someone when I was sitting at my bar stool. I just got up, grabbed my wine glass and went to the back room to chill out a minute before I flipped out. Then to the bathroom and the side door to disappear into thin air.

Fuck, if I wanted that kind of experience I could have meet my Ex at a white trash bar somewhere in the LaSalle section of Niagara Falls. In some f'd up way i guess I know how all you women feel when someone just won't leave you alone, but just keeps on trying no matter how far you try to be polite and give them signals that you just don't want to be bothered.

The best part is I only knew them an hour & I can see why they're divorced. This is why I have to either move far away from here to find myself a wife or marry someone that is not from Buffalo if I want a successful marriage. If this is how women end up when they turn around 50, then married life would be very miserable to say the least.

Needless to say I was bit by a dog last week, this was more traumatic than that I must say...

carjacked!

So after an evening on Allen with (e:theecarey) my friend and driver for the evening BB needed to get some gas for the long trek home. So he decided to stop at the Sunoco on Delaware and Delavan. For some reason I noticed that he grabed the keys and went to prepay. Then a minute later this guy that was just lingering about (although I think he came from the car on the other side of the pumps) just nonchantly walks up to the drivers side, opens the door, gets in and shuts the door. Me in my happy state of mind just says, "Dude, wrong car man." He's like, "Man, I'm so F'd up right now." I respond with the, "Yea, me too *fist shake* It's all good" The best part is when the guy that he was with that he knew or was going to go somewhere with yelled, "GET OUT OF THE MAN"S CAR!"

We just laughed at it on the way home. Lucky he took the keys and there was no threat of anything bad. Things could have turned out really bad but lucky, hopefully it was just a big misunderstanding.

Saturday Sabres

(e:carolinian) and I went out on Saturday to the Sabres game. Obviously we have to give him credit for showing up @ HSBC in his Red & Black.

Sitting in the 200 level does open you up to many things that the regular folk do not experience. The magic of cable television.

image

Instead of waiting in traffic we decided to check out what Artvoice has been screaming about at the Buffalo Creek Casino.

image

It is scary that I could breath better given the smoking situation in the Old Pink than I could in that place. All I can say is that everything that they said about the place is true and I'll leave it at that for now.

Afterwards before I droped him off we stopped by Essex St and I basically ran into a Lewiston reunion. Low and behold I ran into an old friend of mine that is now bar tending there on Saturday nights J*. Running into that guy is like uncovering an old journal that you kept hidden or "friends only" for LJ people. It didn't hurt that 2 other people from L-ton.

Driving home was actually an interesting experience. There is nothing like feeling as if you are traveling through some inter dimensional warp. Not noticing where you are because of the blinding snow and having time vertigo due to not being where you should be given the amount of time you have been traveling in the car. It was just fortunate that the back roads were empty since the name of the game is avoiding the bad winter drivers.

a tribute to Radiohead

If anyone is bored I'll be @ Broadway Joe's catching The Karma Police. It's been almost a year since I have caught one of their shows and supposedly they learned some new material off of the "free" album they just released.

last night

I must say although most baseball purists were not fans of the late game I absolutely loved it. To me there is nothing cooler than a sporting event being live @ 1am in the morning. When I was sitting at the bar with my friend B.B. last night at Frizzy's it was a blast. That place is so much fun for some reason. It was also great to run into a couple of (e:strip) peeps which just made it an even better time.

So what happened after the Sox imploded? We ended up on some bar on Englewood! Don't ask, I would blog about it but I do like to keep myself from appearing to be a bitter dude...

Pub Crawl

So last night I ended up taking a bit of a pub crawl. I first stopped by Essex St and enjoyed a Pabst. So with that alone that place earns high marks just for serving that beer. My Ex ended up running into an old high school friend that she hasn't seen in 7 years which made things a bit interesting. She badgered me on the question of why we weren't together and talking up my Ex on being a "good catch." :-/ I just didn't have the time to explain or the nerve to endure the abuse if I ended up telling the story honestly.

From there we went to Allen and just experienced the madness that is that street now during the peak hours. After chilling at my old favorite Frizzy's waiting for my friend Billy Bob to show up with his new iPod Touch we tried Staples for the first time. I really think that that place found a nitch in a void. For some reason i did enjoy it there as I was able to kick back and watch the replay of the South Florida/West Virginia game. Their selection of beer was pretty impressive as they had everything from my PBR and Miller High Life to the higher end micro brews featuring a I.P.A. on tap :-)

After swinging by Hardware to check out what was going on over there we ended up going home a bit early. She is extremely OCD and wouldn't even walk on the same side of the street as the Pink. I guess she was afraid of catching an airborne STD from all of the people begging/looking to hook up outside of that establishment.

I must be the only person in Buffalo never to "hook up" from that place. As I only go for the music and the ample TV's during sporting events. Another thing, Does every bar on Allen NOT have the sports package that includes Speed and other RSN's?

WTF???

I finally have some free time to myself and I decide to head out with my friend Billy Bob last night. He usually drives but tonight since I have decided to be a vegetarian and abstain from drinking for the month of June I drove.

We ended up at the Pink and for a night with me only drinking 2 Red Bulls I just couldn't believe how the night turned out for the weird. Bill was observing some drunk dude constantly hitting on some chick and her friend being a good friend "Cock Blocking." Well drunk dude just didn't get it and kept on hitting on her even after her friend was ultra direct and kept on yelling at him to go away.

Last call comes around and good friend's boyfriend & brother come around and things get pretty heated. I did find the whole episode quite amusing since reading the last (e:vycious) post about women. Watching this dude just persistently fire away at this chick was really an interesting demonstration on fortitude I suppose. It almost seems that sometimes if you just focus on playing the game to win, you make you own luck and you do score. For as much as we think societal rules apply there are women out there that are just of weak will and low self esteem that will fall for some guy that just keeps coming at them. I guess it fulfills some fantasy on "Wanting a guy that is willing to Fight for Them."

Needles to say drunk guy, Good Friend BF and drunk ass bro all blow up at once. Somehow Billy Bob gets shit from someone and all I'm thinking is, "I'm more than sober and in a minute I'm going to be throwing punches @ all places The Pink for something that I was not involved with and with people of whom I don't know!" In the end end GF BF exonerates us by telling his drunk ass brother that, "they're good people and just buddies." Billy Bob just laughs it off and says that drunk guy is just like his brother Dave when he drinks. The type that just get pissed and and look for a fight at any drop of a hat.

Situation averted; YEAH!
