Brilliant WNY Summer Concert Series Idea

To be honest when the schedules for the "free" shows around the area are released, I'm always praying "Please don't let it be someone I MUST see!" To be honest I can't stand most of the people in the area that go to these shows be it at Artpark, Lockport or the Square. I hate the crowds, the ignorant fucks that bump into you, the people that smoke in your face, especially the ones that have no courtesy or concept of personal space, the ones that plant lawn chairs in the middle of a main pathway. I probably missed a few more, OH Wait Tiffany LOL! (or some other suburban female name) giving you a dirty look as your are cheering a great song that you only partially heard as she was SQUEAKING in that Paris/Lindsay voice, yea you know the ones.

Well the Hard Rock in Niagara Falls unveiled their own line-up the best part, You can pay $50 to get away from the masses that are there just because it's free and enjoy the music in their VIP section. There have been so many times over the years where I wish I could have PAID money to enjoy a show at the square to be with people that wanted to experience and hear the show instead of trying to look Hawt at the world's largest outdoor happy hour.

I tell you now if you're a Tragically Hip fan, that $50 will be a small price to pay in comparison the the aggravation you will have to deal with if you want to enjoy the experience. Remember they played a week solid of sold out shows at Artpark last summer, It's going to be F'ing insane! That's not unless you enjoy getting bumped into unsupervised kids in the Fallz as their white trash parents sit on lawn chairs drinking BUSCH totally unaware of what is going on around them. I know I've been to a few outdoor concerts 2 blocks up Falls St at the Casino.

Oil Spill & Railfaning

As I look at the oil spill and get more and more pissed off by the day I just remind myself that people in charge do things that is right for their rich friends and not for the common good. Might makes right and there is nothing that ever seems to get done for the higher purpose, like saving the environment. It makes me wonder how much environmental damage might have been prevented if we never tore up the the streetcars that we had even 60 years ago? This if just F'd up because one could still have lived in East Aurora, Lancaster, Olcott Beach or Youngstown and commuted to work in Buffalo every day.

Then the best part is the spend millions of shitload dollars to put in a joke of a light rail train that went over the same right of way 35 years ago!

Remember the CSX ad stating that they can move 1 ton 423 miles using 1 gallon of diesel? Just imagine these streetcars using electricity from the Hydro Electric station in Lewiston which would be pretty much all green?

Apple Rant

Loveline is back on locally as cfny 102.1 carries it Sun-Thurs 10-12 Midnight. This also made me reminisce about Adam Carolla the co-host back in the day. So I ended up finding one of these rants by him that made me go Humm and remember why I loved him on the show.

I guess I'm not poor after all

After beating myself up for having a net worth under 100K I guess I can feel a bit better about myself.

This site Global Rich List Does put things in perspective. So even if you collected unemployment last year and made 18,000, you're still in the top 12% of the world in terms of wealth! Crazy

Dave Matthews Tickets

I'm going to dump a pair of DMB tickets for the show next month. If anyone wants them here let me know. If no one on the various places I hang out online want them, then I'm going to use StubHub.

Construction Fail

Yea I guess the full moon may have played a role in this clusterfuck today

What I am going to take some heat for is that I wish that the region DID build the highways that they proposed back in the early 1970's Yea I know that I may be in the minority as we always hear that the highways in this area are evil, blah blah blah. But pesonally I wish they did stick to the master plan laid out here:

image

We wouldn't have to worry about fixing stupid rusted out bridges every few years and paying $1 to cross them every time if they just would have built the surface loops that they had originally proposed. It would have all been perfectly placed right about now as that is where everything ended up pushing out anyway in the direction of Clarance, Lancaster. Would we have a clogged traffic jam every day on NF Blvd or Transit Rd?

That little highway spur through Tonawanda/North Tonawanda would be handy right about now! But that's Ok as it it seems everyone is content wasting 45 minutes of their lives traveling 6.5 miles on Niagara Falls Blvd.
It's scary as someone knew back then that the only thing that will keep the economy going is building new houses further and further out from city core decorated with shitty retail strip malls with no parking spaces.

So this may answer a few Q's

I found this gem and just had to share:

6. Talk to her (I am a bit socially anxious and don't make the first move) CHECK

5. Acting Interested (I'm in my own little world on my phone) CHECK

4. Dancing (Well I do this pretty well so) Negative

3. Complimenting her Looks (You did something to your hair & it's different?) CHECK

2. Being Nice (I guess I'm kind of a Nice Guy) Negative

1. Having the wrong name (According to a study of 6,000 people, men named Michael, James and David are the clear winners, with all three placing in the top ten for Most Successful, Luckiest, and yes, Most Attractive names.) CHECK ;-)

So 4/6 is not bad at all. I guess if I don't dance and be more of a Dick I'll find happiness...
