Monday, Monday

Teeth

I have to go to the dentist again tomorrow. I even tried to go today. Sadly, no openings for me today. Another day of naproxen and generic orajel. I have a damn tooth that bothered me all weekend long. I thought it was the tooth that was filled last time i was at the dentist, but i am now thinking it is the one right beside it that also needs to be filled. I often have pain for weeks after a tooth is filled, worse than before it was filled, and it feels so much like a cavity, that i just assumed that is what it was this time, too. But alas, i do not think so now. I hope filling this damn tooth will make it feel better!!

Sweet Job

Ok, if you can get it, try to get a job working for the Canadian Consolate... 1 HSBC Center, Suite 3000. They are only open from 8am to 11am, Monday to Friday. Nice, eh? Bet they make a crap load of money, too.

Seems we were able to get stuff done without them anyway. We are going to try to download the Canadain Passport Application Forms i need, and we found a photographer that was able to do Canadian Passport pics.

I was impressed... the guy didn't use a tripod, and with one snap, on his digiatal camera screen was a decent pic. Not great, it still looks slightly like a mugshot. He even cropped another set for me for the picture for my green card. So i will have the same pic for both. And now we don't have to go back again. Hopefully, my passport won't take too long so when i go to the INS Service Center, i won't have different coloured hair. I need to be good for a month or so. *pout*

On Hold

When waiting on hold, some places have good music, others do not. The INS has really really bad music. I would rather listen to Muzak. But, i only had to listen to it for about 20 minutes. Record time. And the guy i spoke to was helpful. Even if he didn't quite understand my concerns.

OK, so i worry too much about this green card stuff. I just didn't want the Buffalo Service Center to wonder why i got a letter dated the 7th of October and didn't come in to get my new green card application processed until 4, 6 or even 8 weeks later. He just told me to explain to them that i wanted to have a travel endorsement in my passport, but i needed to renew it beforehand since the green card won't arrive for another 6 months and the passport expires in a month. He alos told me to continue using my current documents but to have the letter i got and my almost expired passport with me... seems everything is computerized and it would be hard to explain why i was using old documents when i have been approved for the new ones. Is this confusing to everyone? Funny that it isn't to me anymore. I mean, i know what a alien registration receipt card (Form I-551) is. I can use the lingo...

A big thanks to (e:Ladycroft) for her Congrats and (e:Paul) for welcoming me to his country!!

Birthday Party

I am sure more is going on right now. But my mom needed to get the old folks that are myself and (e:Uncutsaniflush) home... we need our rest at this age.

(e:Ladycroft) gets the night started out just fine with her two fisted drinking methods that are envied by all.

The music just moves (e:Mike)

No evening would be complete without some sort of tall tale from everyones favorite story teller, (e:Terry). As you can see, (e:Joshua) can barely believe what he is hearing!

(e:Hodown) and (e:Mike) just chillin'

(e:Jill) and (e:Terry) just after the great clothing swap of 2005.

(e:Terry) and my mom, aka "Boss Mom"

(e:lilho), (e:Holly) and (e:Tina)

and here they are, last but not least, the birthday girls, (e:lilho) and (e:Tina)

Thanks for the invite, (e:lilho). We really appreciate it and the warm welcome you gave my mom.

Happy Birthday!

Help Name Our Gargoyle?

I love Halloween. That doesn't necessarily mean i love to get dressed up in weird clothes or spend time giving out candy. I just like the cool stuff i can get at the stores this time of year. I guess there is a part of me that is still and always will be a goth chick. I love black clothes with blood red accents and celtic crosses and gravestone markers and cemtetaries in general... and, of course, gargoyles. I love them.

I have one in our foyer. I call him Gary. Here he is.

image

The other day, (e:Uncutsaniflush) and i were at Target and i saw the cutest most adorable gargoyle. He was the only one left on the shelf and i just had to take him home. But i can't think of a name for him. And i am just wack enough that i need to name inanimate objects. Anyone have any suggestions? Here he is..

Will Cleveland Rock?

We are going to Cleveland tomorrow... we were trying to think of somewhere neither myself or (e:Uncutsaniflush) had been before that wasn't too far of a drive. Cleveland won. I wonder if Devo is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? We read they have a nice zoo there, too, but that the art gallery we wanted to go to is closed for renos. Oh well. Maybe next time?

Heard from 2 good friends today. Our friend Chris will be able to visit with us when we head on down to Knoxville later this month! Yay! Last time was last minute and we didn't have as much of a chance as we all would have liked. I think he missed some cherished morning sleep to meet us for breakfast. Ah, true friendship! When talking to (e:Uncutsaniflush), Chris mentioned something interesting. Since he comes here to read our journals, he has an idea of what is going on in our lives and is less likely to contact us... But, damnit, he doesn't have a journal or a blog! Maybe we need to set one up for him so we know what is going on in his life?

I also heard from my friend Mark. Mark met a girl online that, at this early stage, he is conisdering marrying so she can go and live with him in Toronto. Wow. Now, most people might not think that would be that big a deal. But Mark was married once upon a time. And not really because he wanted to get married, he was just young and foolish and he thought his jealous girlfriend would be more secure if they were married. It ended badly. Back in the late '80's. Since, he has had a total of 1 serious relationship, and not really all that serious, even though they lived together. Now, a girl from Montana somewhere... He is a wonderful person and i love him dearly and i want him to be happy. I just do not want to see him get hurt. I told him to at least meet her once beforehand...

(E:Uncutsaniflush) and i met the one time before deciding to get married. And it's almost been 4 years. Wow.

Weekend

Hope everyone has a great weekend. Shortly, we will be off to Hamilton to see my 'rents. (E:Uncutsaniflush) expects to see the Hamilton TIgerCats loose with my father tonight, while my mom and i go off shopping.

Sunday, we have plans to see the Corpse Bride with (E:Ladycroft) and perhaps (e:Matthew) (i emailed you with my cell number if you need or want to reach me) for the matinee. We're leaning towards the 3pm show at the Regal theatres up on Elmwood... So, if anyone else cares to join, let me know!

Well, time for me to go pack!

Again!!

We saw it again. At Walmart instead of Target.

image

And for (e:Paul), here's the plate... confirmation this person doesn't live on Elmwood. Or, if they do, they are new...

image

Sorry, (e:Theecarey), did not see the person that owned this car... would be an interesting chat if we did....

Chopsticks, CDs and Weird Car

I've been in the mood to take some snaps lately. (E:Uncutsaniflush) said today that it is (e:Paul)'s fault. I reckon that means we all know i took the pictures specifically to post on my journal. I am soooo transparent!!

Chopsticks

I found the typos and translation of this interesting.

image

CD's

We've been looking for media storage since we moved into this house and finally we found something that will do. It's not perfect, since we we hoping for something made of real wood...

This is before, and although it's a bit dark and blurry, it's kinda obvious why we need more storage, eh?

image

(E:Uncutsaniflush) spent quite sometime putting the new one together.

Here is a during pic of some of the bits and parts.

image

And, ah, the glorious after. I spent hours putting everything on the shelves. Today, we hung our "egg picture" above it, too.

image

Weird Car

We went to Target today, in search of the perfect coat hooks for our back hallway. No luck with those, but i am glad we went. Saw the most interesting car parked in the lot.

Yes folks, you are seeing this correctly... those are plastic... uhmm... things glued to it.

image

Close up of the side.

image

Close up of the hood.

image

Close up of lady liberty herself!

image

And here is one of the side by the back. WIth a slightly grumpy looking (e:Uncutsaniflush) seen in the window. Good thing he was wearing his Grumpy shirt, eh?

Who Wants To...

go see the film Corpse Bride with me?

I wore my much desired (several people have told me they know someone who would "kill" for it) Jack Skellington tank top from Torid the night of (e:Ladycroft)'s infamous birthday bash. (E:Matthew) and i got talking and we talked about going to see Corpse Bride once it comes out.

(E:Metalpeter) reminded me that it is now! You still want to go see it, (e:Matthew)? Anyone else game for a night or afternoon at the movies to see what i hope to be a cool Tim Burton film? Not sure when, i am open and flexible on the schedule.. Except this Friday. We have plans with my 'rents. (E:Uncutsaniflush) and my dad are going to see the Hamilton TigerCats play at Ivor Wynne Stadium while my mom and i... oh, i don't know, hang out, shop.

If anyone is interested, let me know.

The Week In Pictures & Today

Let There Be Light

As (e:Uncutsaniflush) mentioned [inlink]uncutsaniflush,114[/inlink] he replaced a light fixture in our bathroom. I decided to document the proceedure.

Here is the dreaded before light. The one that gave me a shock the other day [inlink]leetee,56[/inlink] just needed to go, damn it!

image

During. As you can see, painting this room might prove interesting some day. Nice textures...

image

And a close up of the interesting wiring and mounting that was used on the shocking and now garbaged light fixture.

image

And here is what ya get a Home Depot for less than a $20 bill.

And while i am at it with all the pictures, here is why the Buffalo Sewer Authority came here that rainy day. [inlink]leetee,59[/inlink]

Today

No pictures of this, thank goodness... I just wanted to thank (e:Jason) and (e:Mike) for their encouragement today before i went to the dentist. Very helpful to me. (E:Uncutsaniflush) kept telling me how brave i was. I only almost threw up on the dentist once. Wow. In fact, i was treated with respect and dignity, even through the tears. When the dentist takes the time to help me breathe in and out and calm myself, i feel respected and not ridiculed for my intense and irrational fear. It made me respect this dental office even more. To top it all off, they did not charge me for today's visit. He wants me to come back. I promised him i would. I made my next appointment for the 18th of October. I needed time for the throbbing to ease (it usually takes me about a week to stop feeling pain from getting a tooth filled) and Walt and i are planning a trip for our 4th wedding anniversary coming up soon.

At the last minute, i decided i wanted to bring a walkman (remember those things??), so we had to search a few boxes for cassettes here at the house and run to the store for batteries on the way there. The hygenist asked me what i was listening to and when i replied "The Buzzcocks", i was met with a blank stare and the comment, "they aren't country and western, i assume?"... ah, no.

After i thawed a bit, we decided to go out to eat. We thought something soft would be the best bet for me and decided on the Original Pancake House on the Boulevard. I had the yummiest mushroom crepe and Walt had an Irish Omlette. I recommend the place... the food was very good.

Dreaded Drilling Dentist

I hate going to the dentist. I have never gone voluntarily, or at a time when it was not an emergency. Until recently.

Not too long ago, i told my dentist saga of 2004 [inlink]leetee,24[/inlink] and gave ya'll a shout out asking for recommendations. I got 2, from (e:Hodown) (sorry, but i couldn't find the dude you recommended!) and another from (e:Mike). I was able to find that dentist. To be more specific, (e:Mike) was recommending his hygenist, since he thinks she is "the best". I ended up with a different hygenist, who i thought was pretty damn cool... She explained to me that some people have gum problems, some people have decay problems, and i seem to be the latter of the 2. Fine by me, fillings are better than gum surgery!!!

For the first time in as long as i can remember, i have a cavity count of under 10. They (and me too!!!) are hoping to get these done in 2, maybe 3 appointments. Wow... no going to the dentist for weeks and weeks up until the time i need to get another check up and cleaning. Another first for me.

You see, when i was a kid, a was a wiggly squirmly (and skinny!) little thing. I remember having my baby teeth filled. I also remember the pain, since i don't take to locals very well. I also remember the dentist being impatient with me and to keep me still, he tied me to the chair. I have strong memories of a nurse sitting on my legs to keep me still. But they didn't believe me when i told them it hurt. And my mom didn't believe me when i told her they tied me down. OK, so when i was a kid i was prone to exaggerate.. i could be a drama queen at 4, i reckon. But my little kid brain figured she would believe me. *sigh*

After a long period of not going to the dentist, i returned there (due to an emergency, of course) as an older teenager and held my hands out to be tied. I figured if my mom didn't think it was a big deal when i was a kid, i guess that is what happened at the dentist. I was just being a silly twit for being afraid, everyone gets tied down. When the look of horror crossed the faces of the dental professionals that day, i ran out of the office in tears, and i have never stepped foot into that office again. They sent me a bill and i paid it. Took me another 5 years and some therapy to go back into a dental office again.

So now, as a 36 year old, i have nightmares before i go to the dentist. Last night was no exception. I am scared shitless. Last week, i cried when i was getting my teeth cleaned, i have no idea how i am going to handle today.
