99% of CL personal ads is Failure

Well a couple of days ago I took a page out of the DC Craigslist Personals playbook and posted an ad myself. It was basically m4w 31 with an extra ticket to Matthew Good at Club infiniti last night. What blew me away is that someone actually responded and was excited to go and open to me as a person.

So after a few emails and text messages I met her after work at Infinity and had a really enjoyable evening. She's pretty cool but to be honest I didn't feel "fireworks." At some other level I was pretty blown away that even through a anonymous system the prototype to the type of woman that I attract responded. Although the difference is that she is pretty quiet and reserved a role that I am usually filling. So to be the person in the relationship doing all the talking, decision making and such I'm not too sure I'm up for having the majority of that kind of responsibility.

But I cannot count this as a failure at all. I'm just using that title as a tribute to the song that is going through my head. Actually it work out as planned. I wanted to share the show with someone cool that appreciated his music. It worked out as hoped actually, but the show being sold out did help I would imagine.

Needless to say it was a great show. Matt Good is all that I would imagined to be in person. Plus it was cool to run into briefly (e:Pyrcedgrrl)

Yesterday, Last Night

I ended up taking a few autumn pics yesterday as I was roller blading along the bike path that runs through Niawanda/Isle View Park in Tonawanda.

After finishing up I ended up going out for a bit with my friend Pat. I've been friends with him for almost 4 years. It was Livejournal that was the mechanism for us getting together. The occasion for going out last night was he's moving to San Fran Monday in search of a better animation job and to escape the coming winter. He's going to do alright out there as he traded for a "Grandpa" van to make the move out there with all of his stuff on Craigslist.

We ended up stopping by the I <3 the 90's dance party at the Icon's last night (although the address was the Icon in a prior incarnation in the 1990's) We ended up meeting this guy from London Ontario who was in town for a speed metal show at Showplace. Supposedly he works for Labatt's and was fascinated with American beer as he was drinking Pabst Blue Ribbon all night. He asked if I could tell him of a bar that served Michelob since he collects bottles and was looking for one. All I could tell him was that most places on the Chip Strip serve Mich Amber, Light or Ultra and not the regular Michelob. Needless to say it was quite interesting and I hope that his new relationship with some chick he met at the show works out. London to Buffalo is a 2 hour drive.

So after heading there we stopped at the Pink for a quick one. This is why I love the pink. I'm in there and I hear this song, I know all of the words. It turns out the DJ is playing Adorable's "Homeboy" from 1992!!! They're probably one of the best "showgaze" bands of all time and I haven't heard them in at least 7 years or so. It was ALMOST better than sex, ha ha!

We then ended up calling it a night early and went to Town for Pat's last restaurant meal in Buffalo. As the pic is taken outside.

Pub Crawl

So last night I ended up taking a bit of a pub crawl. I first stopped by Essex St and enjoyed a Pabst. So with that alone that place earns high marks just for serving that beer. My Ex ended up running into an old high school friend that she hasn't seen in 7 years which made things a bit interesting. She badgered me on the question of why we weren't together and talking up my Ex on being a "good catch." :-/ I just didn't have the time to explain or the nerve to endure the abuse if I ended up telling the story honestly.

From there we went to Allen and just experienced the madness that is that street now during the peak hours. After chilling at my old favorite Frizzy's waiting for my friend Billy Bob to show up with his new iPod Touch we tried Staples for the first time. I really think that that place found a nitch in a void. For some reason i did enjoy it there as I was able to kick back and watch the replay of the South Florida/West Virginia game. Their selection of beer was pretty impressive as they had everything from my PBR and Miller High Life to the higher end micro brews featuring a I.P.A. on tap :-)

After swinging by Hardware to check out what was going on over there we ended up going home a bit early. She is extremely OCD and wouldn't even walk on the same side of the street as the Pink. I guess she was afraid of catching an airborne STD from all of the people begging/looking to hook up outside of that establishment.

I must be the only person in Buffalo never to "hook up" from that place. As I only go for the music and the ample TV's during sporting events. Another thing, Does every bar on Allen NOT have the sports package that includes Speed and other RSN's?

Gen Y Chicks

From my recent experiences on a college campus in boosting my accounting course credits I am afraid to say that this chick is pretty well represented. In a perfect world people like this would just find some dude with a tone of cash and become their trophy wife, but somehow chicks like this do manage to get masters degrees and with the fortune of having a principle in their back pocket get high paying jobs, especially in Western New York. Although this chick is from South Carolina you know what I mean...

CNE Cont part 2

More pics from my photo dump

I was just happy to get back to the EX after an absence of a very long time. It was also good to see the Food building expand its seating capacity. I did end up taking an outside pic of the CNE Casino, it's the old Better Living Centre. All I can say is I hope to get to a FC Toronto game before the season ends. I'm not one of soccer/football but the atmosphere was just insane. It's great that they built a stadium on the old C.N.E. Grandstand site.

C.N.E.

This is a photo dump from the end of summer. I ended up going to the Canadian National Exhibition in Toronto. Baiscally the pictures are of me taking the train in, the parade that they had through the midway, BMO field where FC Toronto of the M.L.S. played D.C. United when I was there, The IAMS super dog show, Sloan in concert at the band shell, the national trade centre where they were selling almost anything you could think of in a agricenter at the Erie County Fair kind of way.

Get off the F'n Sidewalk!

I was enjoying the day going for a stroll up and down Elmwood. Unfortunately, I was interrupted by a few fools on bikes riding on the sidewalk. You may be eco-friendly by using your own power on two wheels to get around town. Heck it may even make you look cool and give you street cred with some hipsters in the village.

It's just that riding on the sidewalk in against the law! You're a vehicle not a pedestrian. Sorry that your bike does not protect you against that BMW SUV or that Ford 250 driven by some contractor working for some real estate mogul. It's just that I like to walk down the street on a sidewalk and not get run into you.

I'm so sorry that you don't feel safe riding down the Elmwood strip with all of the traffic, but there's always an alternative. Richmond runs parallel and will get you close to where you may need to go and there is even a BIKE LANE, Image that! Ashland doesn't have all that much traffic on it. But that bike you bought at some second hand store along with those clothes you bought at a similar store won't be seen by as many people on Richmond as opposed to Elmwood.

So all I can say is Screw you hipster bicyclists, Obey the Traffic Law. I don't care how you look or anything else. The sidewalk is for walking not riding. If you don't like riding on traffic use Google maps to find a less congested road to ride on.

Guilty Pleasures & traumatic thoughts

Why do I have the new Good Charlotte's "i don't wanna be in love" stuck in my head???

On a somber note I stopped by a wake this afternoon. I just hate that freaking feeling of super gravity against you when you are at a funeral/wake. It was interesting to see old posh Lewiston in mass with everyone dressed up. You just don't see men wear suits to wakes/funerals too much any more.

So I ended up seeing a ton of people that I almost forgot from high school but I just wasn't playing that game. I got in and gave me condolences to the immediate family. I know too well of what they are going through, especially with their proportion of their family and a traumatic loss of which they just suffered.

I did find the video that they were playing in the reception line set to a Phish song quite well done.

Time to attempt to get a inline skating session for the first time in forever...

Life is too short

I was just talking to my friend Bill last night when he told me about an accident in Youngstown. Then he said Oh, it's someone you know that graduated around when we did. He gave me some other info that just left me shaking me head. Then I checked the obituary section this morning to read this

Needless to say I hate living stuff over again every time I hear about something along these lines.

I remember going to parties at my friend Wally's during high school. She lived with her Mom next door in this old mansion that was divided into a duplex. Once in a while Walter would sneak on over there with her boyfriend at the time and would have just insane times.

Once in a while I would see her or some ex-boyfriends around town but nothing of real substance. What really is making me think is what was her state of mind the last couple of years. One can get totally sucked into this alternative dimension that is Lew-Port even if they have other things going on with their life.

I just hope it was a just a bad luck wrong place wrong time accident. Having experience in what goes on behind closed doors and the warped perspective people have that are natives down here my mind is just racing. I can let myself get really sad if I let my imagination run wild.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Doyle family.

:'(

PARITY!!!

Although the Canadian Dollar "the loonie" is not quite at par or equal to the U.S. Dollar it is within striking distance. The last quote was at 98.6 cents US. So it isn't equal as of yet, but if you are going over to Canada anytime soon you are going to be getting less Canadian money than American when you to engage in the exchange transaction. The 5% juice or profit margin that the banks, casinos, traders use to make money their profit will put you "underwater."

So yea, "Helicopter Ben" may have cut rates to save the housing market but in the end he's going to do more damage then good in cutting rates today.

What is going to happen is the people with money are not going to park in the U.S. to get substandard returns with lower interest rates while having their principle getting gnawed at by a depreciating currency. They're going to go to Canada or Europe earn a better return on investment and gain with an ever increasing exchange rate on principle.

So now after 30 years of those red state ugly Americans ripping on the "Monopoly Money" guess what that $1 bill is only worth 0.98 cents in Canadian Funds! Not bad for a "Socialist" country, Eh?

and Whoa, when did I get to 200+ entries!?!
