Today, i found out that if you are illegally parked, but you have a couple of orange pylons, then you won't get a ticket. According to Buffalo Parking Enforcement dispatch, construction workers have "leeway" as per New York State law. So, go get yourself a big magnet with some made up construction company and a couple of pylons, and you can get rock star parking anywhere!

Day off today, so i slept in very very late (woo hoo!) and i am just now, at 5:20pm, getting shoes on to venture outside....



I decided on clear ones, with socks, for (e:Hodown). And, to answer your question. I don't wear socks with the low ones when i am wearing shorts or capri length pants, just like i wouldn't wear hightops. I think, as someone at work once said, it would look "bitarded".

As for being cold... well, i wear boots in the winter 'cause chucks would be very soggy and cold. At work, the heat doesn't get turned off until late May, so it might as well be summer in there right now. So, i have switched to summer clothes. Shorts, no socks and low tops. :o)

In a weird twist, i have a tshirt that matches these shoes almost identically. And, since my boss hates it, or likes to tease me, or has a thing with being matchy-matchy, i am wearing both these shoes and the top. It's just my gift to her....

According to the ripped up assignment sheet from work that i stuffed into my shoe and forgot about, i haven't worn this pair since 02-18-10.

I think of these as wedding chucks, since i wore them to (e:Ladycroft) and (e:Rory)'s wedding. :o)

We went to see Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland. Oh Em Gee, i loved it! But, i love Tim Burton's aethetics and think Johnny Depp is the prettiest boy evers!

Of course, i wore my clear glow in the dark low cut chucks to a movie theatre!

Then, i went to hang out with my friend Kirsten and her almost 1 year old baby, Olivia. So dang cute... and what a little flirt! She did not get that from mom! In the Royal, during busy dinner service, there she was, flirting with any boy who crossed her path. Get out the chastity belt now, mom!

All in all, a very good day off.... i didn't do any chores -- not laundry, not cleaning, not dishes. That rocks.

Today, it's back to work.... and a pair of high top brown checked chucks.

Since i have started working for the DDSO, the powers that be have been talking about "campus" closing. The old institutional model is way outdated, and units have slowly been closing. Our unit has individuals that have been more difficult to place in the community, and therefor, have been a bit of a tough crowd to work with. My original placement within the organization has been in a unit that gets me looks of sympathy, shock, awe, and sometimes, respect. But, it always gets a reaction....

Lately, the powers that be have really been speeding up the closings, moving units and individuals around. They have made plans for bosses and had them bid on what they want in a community group home. Our boss, Shirley is getting screwed and her theory is if she is, us lowly workers will too. So, she arranged a union meeting for us to find out what is going on. I think there still might be some smoke i am shitting out because of how far up my ass it was blown by the union reps.

Through all of this, the usual monthly set of bids was put up. I have been interested in one particular home for a while, but the last time they had an opening and was on the bid list, it just couldn't be done.

This time, i saw a bid for that home i have been eying, part time, 80% (32 hours/week -- i currently have part time 50%, 20 hours a week). So, i filled out the papers and faxed them in.

Then, i had about 5 days off in a row. When i got back to work on Saturday, a co-worker saw me in the office and congratulated me. Stunned, i hopped onto the intranet to check it out. There it was in black and white, the bid list, the bid i put in and at the bottom beside the word successful bidder was my name. I got my bid. Wow.

Not sure of any of the details as yet. I think i have to call them up and go over there and fill out some papers. But i think within a few weeks my commute will go from 35 minutes down to 5.

OMG

P.S. We got our new roof! And now, i have to call them and tell them we have a leak in the new gutters. *frown*
