My Lame Happy Hour

Missing Image ;(

Well here is a pic of me and where I was for my lame Friday Happy Hour. I just love this place in quaint little Lewiston. It was really good to see a great amount of people out enjoying the sunshine. What really surprise me was the traffic outside of the Day Spa next door. Seeing these underage girls going in and out of this building that houses two businesses one being a more mature boutique and the other a day spa I knew which one they were patronizing. The whole Paris Hilton Phenomenon has finally hit home to me.

Then again I have lived in Lewiston/Porter most of my life this should not be a shock. Just I don't remember the girls in my high school wearing pointy designer shoes and wearing ambercronbiesque type of clothes getting their stuff done as frequently as the girls these days do. Then again now in today's America we are living in even "Fatter" times than even the 1990's. Feeling wealthy in regards to your custom home that you can touch and feel and buy stuff form Home Depot is a bigger boost to your financial ego than a stock portfolio that is extremely volatile of a daily basis.

I know where I am going to be tonight. Broadway Joe's on Main St hopefully around 10PM. The hockey game may complicate things a bit but I am going to the Karma Police Show tonight. If anyone has any idea's about tonight let me know.

This should be a good night :-)

I have become a treehugger

As I was leaving my "job" from the den of debauchery in downtown Niagara Falls I came across this as I was heading home.

Yes, I have lived here most of my life and am totally aware that the city of NF vibrates at a lower frequency than the rest of the universe.

But, this just made me really F*n pissed.

Why have I noticed a senseless war against trees' lately?

In Lewiston last week they just clear cut all of them on the riverbank leaving stumps. Must open up "The View!"

Arg, perfectly healthy trees. No, immediate threat to power lines and for what? Your casino $ hard at work I suppose.

Crackheads

So my friend's car got broken into this morning. They broke the window to grab a $20 portable CD player. The car was parked right on Elmwood between Allen and Virginia.

In a way I feel it was my fault. I should have been more persist ant for her to come down here and spend the night as I was casually mentioning to when she called after I got off of work last night.

My buddy Jeff was right. In my neighborhood it is like a nice "Easter Basket" nothing bad happens and it's that warm and fuzzy feeling :-/

This is just evident that I have to be sliding by on something when it comes to women. It sure isn't my Don Juan suave that is doing the job that is for sure.

I'll think I'll change this journal name to Mr. Passive or something along those lines.

Empty/Full

So my Dad/Housemate is off to France today. Leaving me just a little bit empty on the person to go out to dinner department for the next week or so. At the same time eating just doesn't seem like a good idea, I believe I have put on a few pounds recently. I must get motivated and rotate the wheels on my blades for the basic fact that my marathon skates have worn them down to nothing last year.

What really is bugging me lately is the fact that it now appears that I did not learn anything from last year from my "relationships." For some reason, "they always keep coming back!" ((e:theecarey)) gave me some insight into this weekend. It's good to know those sort of things for the future :-) and why women find me attractive in this way. It is just if I had the opposite problem of not having anyone want my company, overcoming that adversity to fight to get any kind of attention from a woman would be a battle that I may really not be up for. Then again it is one that I haven't had the need to take on in a long while. After years of thinking of locking my drive in a box figuratively speaking due to a lack of outlets and opportunities, I have now finally become one of those confident, normal, red blooded males. While at the same time bringing all of the problems, but compared to the alternative I can't complain.

Trying to redeem a weekend

Well after not doing much of anything this weekend it came to the point where I had to do something. So in speaking with ((e:theecarey)) I suggested that we go out in the immediate locality. In doing so I guess I took her Lew-Port bar virginity, Ha Ha! Initially we were going to go to "The Stone Jug" but it just looked really dead. So we went to Lewiston and checked out the Brickyard. Not too lively either, but I knew a few people in the place so we stayed. We ended up hanging with all the members of The Karma Police which was an enlightening time for Carey. We also ran into an old friend of ours Scott.

My two Blue Moon's just made me too much of a debater/conversationalist, but it was fun. The low point of the night was some skinny blonde chick that just gave me some weird vibes. As we were walking outside to enjoy the fog on the patio she gave me the old scratching my eye with the middle finger thing. I had no idea who she was, but her constant talking to anyone that would listen really creeped me out. Other than that it was just a chill night in Lewiston, 7-1 guys to girls. To think my Ex thought I would go out locally and pick up women to cheat on her with, Ha Ha

Anyway this is to see if My Camera phone posts better pics that Carey's.

This was taken about 40 minutes after the place closed. It was nice not to be screamed at to "GET THE F* OUT!!!" or "PUT IT IN A CUP AND TAKE IT TO THE SIDEWALK!" When we decided to leave it was, "See you later, Take Care." Ah, Small town bars where everyone knows you.

Things that make you sigh

I was looking around last night for something for my date last night with an old friend. I stumbled across my blue faced Timex watch that my Ex bought me. I had thought I lost it in Vegas, but I had it all along. It was just a bit of a sting since I had considered it our "relationship ring." I don't think the universe was telling me that I was making a mistake for going out last night, but at the same time I have never felt the kind love that L* gave to me. It did make me a bit sad and distraught. Then I remembered that she did dump me.

Why do they always seem to come back? I got another text from my Ex/Old Friend D* today. After a while I am just not sure what to actually call them.

Well I think I'm finally awake. Time to figure out what and where I am going to go tonight.

being anti-social

This week all I wanted to do was accomplish this one thing. It should have only taken a normal person 1 day to do this, I stretched it out for an entire week. Argg!!

Not only that but I really have just felt totaly isolated and blah all week. The only real social thing I did all week so far is have ((e:theecarey)) tag along on my degenerate mega millions run on Tuesday. I haven't even been getting my usual spam e-mail!

I think that I am just afraid that I am going to fall off the face of the earth of something.

Really I know that I am just being irrational right now.

Dyngus Day

So in a moment of keeping with my heritage I ended up celebrating Dyngys day with my Dad. It really boiled down to having a craving for a good old pork chop. So we ended trying out luck at this place called the "Polish Nook". Needless to say to get my fill of authentic Polish food we had to fight to get in. The place was packed to capacity. Initially they told us that we were not going to get in for the fact that we didn't have reservations. The fact that my Dad does some catering business with them and they were desperately out of singles and I had about 25 dollars worth since it was tip day at work for me, we squeezed our way in. So I had my Polish food fix as I recalled my old dearly departed family relatives. To see the energy and people just taking it all in was great. After dinner we just briefly stopped by and checked out the Polka band.

It was just great to see the place packed and the tradition kept alive. In actuality I thought that something like Dyngus Day would be falling off by the wayside, but here in WNY we keep any reason to party alive I suppose.

It is in the "old neighborhood" in east Niagara Falls a place where my great grandparents, grandparents and great aunts and uncles lived for about 75-80 years. It was a nice descent place when the factories on Buffalo Avenue pumped out cyclical goods. The neighborhood was filled with mostly people of Polish Heritage. Obviously this type of American dream in this area died when all of the factories closed. We all know the rise and fall of Western New York.

I lived in that neighborhood for about 2 years in my great uncle's house. When we had a buyer for the place we just took the money and ran. Ok, it was strange to try to take a trip to the past for one night for dinner. Just driving through the area and seeing homes that go for about 25,000 will not life your spirit.

Just for one day to see it alive and thrive it was a great sight to see.

Hockey

My first Sabre's game this year, and the regular season is pretty much done. Well At least I have 1 playoff game to look forward to that I am sure of that I will be attending.

Well off for some beer @ the Harbor Club on the 200 level!!!!!

EDIT

Well the game was a blowout Buffalo 6 Toronto 0. The first shutout of the year for the Sabres. Just attending this game made me realize how much I miss hockey. So I finally get to a game and it the last home game of the season. Why couldn't I have gone in September or October even, oh yea that's right this team kicks ass.

So we arrived about an hour early and I just had a bit to eat and a couple Bud Lights "The Official Beer of the NHL" at the 200 level Harbour Club and sat in the seating section overlooking the fine dining section in the 100 level section. It has been probaly about 12-13 years since I went to a game with my Dad.

In reminiscing about years past and how my late Grandmother loved going to the games we discussed the old Buffalo Memorial Auditorium. There was the forerunner to the Harbour club called "The Aud Club" a place for season ticket holders and generally rich people to enjoy the games in a comfortable exclusive atmosphere full of amenties. Well my Dad in his old job got tickets and a fully paid expense account at this place. It was great but the bummer was as a kid I would have to wear a sportcoat and tie to be admitted to this "Aud Club" and it was a bummer when all you wanted to do was dress comfortablly and wear a hockey jersey.

In going over memories with my Dad we discussed how much Bobcei like the carved prime rib that they served in the buffett. Remembering how they have taken over some of the old items from the aud next door I suggested that we walk down to the 100 level and check out, "The Poor Man's Aud Club." We ended up splitting a carved roast beef sandwich and it was like I was able to say Hi to my Grandma for a quick instant. OH, BTW she Hated Toronto and would have loved the game! Ha Ha

The funniest thing I heard while at the game was this kid saying as he looked at the old standings from the Aud as they brought the two bulletin boards over from the Aud. Now they had the Sabres stats for the roster for the season of 95-96 and the standings of the same year. This kid said, "I didn't know Ottawa used to be real bad" commenting on their last palce position in the standings. Funny Stuff. I really am getting old.

Easter, Yah!

It was a nice little (e:strip) trifecta last night. What started out in me trying out Frizzy's for the first time ended up being a evening filled with good conversation and stories and followed by the show as usual at the Old Pink. ((e:Sbrugger)) and ((e:Theecarey)), thank you for a fun night. It was really nice to meet you Austin and hear you good old stories from the old school of NU.

Carey, my Ex is pretty anit-blog we will never see her on the strip. Actually I'm convinced my LJ sped up the decomposition of our relationship. It was one of those fun nights where you didn't want to head out and the bar and go home.

The highlight of the day so far was shopping @ Wegmans. Before I ventured into the isles I had a chicken finger sub. While i was eating in the shop I overheard and employee on break spilling all of her life's problems to a co-worker. It was the mother of a woman that was murdered in Las Vegas about 5 years ago and she talked about how tough life is and how Easter is still going to be hallow. Now I did lose a sister about 8 years ago now. Time is relative and everyone needs their own amount to deal with things. My guilty self just thought that my PALMS Las Vegas hat may have triggered some bad memory, since the place is across the street from the Rio where she worked. Then we just logically deducted that she would have been the same way regardless if I was there or not. I do feel bad for her. Those things never do quite go away.

It did make me a bit nostalgic for Easter. What I ended up doing to get in touch with those feelings was buying myself a quarter pound of Krakus Ham.

Now I am going to stop sitting inside and head outdoors. I have an evening planned with an old friend. It has been ages since we last hung out, all of which is my fault for being a total ____. We will leave it at that I suppose, hopefully things will take on as a new leaf in spring.

EDIT: It was The Flaming Lips that did that car commercial song @ the Pink
