good morning-- er, afternoon

Haven't reset my clocks yet. Not sure if that extra hour helped or not. I slept in so late that I don't think it matters much!

It is nice to see the sun shining, though. The forecast looks promising that it will continue for another day at least.

I'm still groggy headed enough to not quite yet be able to relay thoughts pertaining to the last couple of days. I have a few pictures to share as well.

Working on a strong cup of coffee right now, and need to go in search of food; well, something outside the choice of Halloween candy (someone dropped off a bag of candy at my door at some point yesterday-hmm, friend or foe?) or Hallowedding candy (I was encouraged to fill up a bag of candy before leaving the reception. That was fun). I don't know, what sounds good? Something I don't have to put effort into making would be a start.

Anyway, give me a couple of hours to "wake up" . Just wanted to pop in and say "hi" and see how all of you are doing.

so, how are you? :)

(e:matthew), how are you holding up? On the mend, I hope.

TMI

but I don't care.

and I won't get too much into it.

promise!

Trying to find a better price on "Instead" Soft Cups. Bought a bunch last year, kinda hard to find in a store, need to reorder again. So, checking out prices online.

what is it? well...
Basically a semi pliable ring with plastic that creates a cup to collect menstrual flow. Became a fan some time ago for completely self satisfying reasons. If you want to have sex without it looking like a bloody massacre, this is one way to have "clean" sex. (ok, couple of other reasons too, but this was huge bonus). No other product (Diva Cup, Moon Cup, The Keeper, etc) do that. So yeh, I'm not interested. Although, if I were looking for a more environmentally nice alternative, then those would be it.

I've mentioned somewhere here and there that I really enjoy reading product reviews. Now although I already know what this product is all about, I read through a bunch anyways. Then I ventured into reviews on the other brands (just to make nothing has changed, ya know, to be able to use them, uh hem, 'anytime'.)

Then I thought, well... they might be decent, practical and cheaper for any other time, so as not to pollute the earth with pads and tampons, right? So, onto more thorough look at some of the reviews. Namely, the Diva Cup.

Which the following review is what prompted me to write...

It is fucking hilarious, creative and (bloody) brilliant.

her other reviews on non related products have the same creative voice. If she is a writer somewhere, I need to know!

Anyway, I decided I'll pass on this product, and continue with what I know and like.

pesty ba$tards

I have mosquitoes in my house.

Just a few.. but enough to engage my cats interest and enough to make me wonder... "why aren't ya'll dead yet???"

but it is getting close to their demise one way or another.

Instead of zipping around alluding my death smacks, they are bobbing through the air like a Mylar balloon losing its helium.

Mosquito killing has been fruitful.

disgust

I just watched someone sitting at a stoplight chuck their empty cigarette box out their window and onto the street.
they were driving a shiny cadillac escalade which seemed to add to my digust.

that is all.
carry on

energy of the night

Despite being tired, I was drawn to the outdoors yesterday evening. The cool air, wind and dark rolling clouds just intrigued me into a brisk walk. I sensed a strong energy to the air and felt like I would could walk forever. I didn't feel my body or the usual sensory information when hauling at a quick walking speed. Yet didn't feel disconnected from it. I felt like I was floating; connected to everything, felt like I could take on the world. That so much of what we know is.. so little to what there is. If that makes any sense.. words can't quite get at what I am thinking. Anyway, it is always a welcome experience, and I knew that I had to get out into the evening to embrace the feeling of the winds.

wish I could bottle it.

Took a few pictures too :)

Music to F#%K to?

There is really no other way to ask it, sooo

Suggestions?

Enigma always sounds a bit naughty.
It was once recommended to me to get some Portishead (any in particular?)
.. and Moby, "Inside" will be one for sure..

Thanks ;)

beat up sweatshirt weather

Ooh such a nice day- what do we have, one or two days of "summer" left?

I'm wearing jeans, sweatshirt(old UB sweatshirt that has held up amazingly well) and sneakers- I get kind of excited to wear that combination. It is so comfortable and I feel like I am ready for anything. I'm definitely heading out the door in a minute to find somewhere to walk around. The sweatshirt might end up being a bit too much in that sun though..

not complaining :)

Then tonight I am heading out to Sterling Tavern (corner of Hertel and Sterling Ave). It is a bit out of the way for me, but its a nice dive to grab a really yummy burger and lots of fantastic beer. Time isn't confirmed as yet, but if in the area.. pop in!

Guinness Slushy Experiment

(generally cross posted to other sites)

8-20-09

typical summer evening temp inside my apartment.
image

I invited (e:pyrcedgrrl) to come along with me to visit family across the state (Esopus & Manhattan). As we were leaving early in the morning, she came and stayed the night before. It was a hot evening and I thought it to be the perfect opportunity to make an Mojito Slushy and get packing for the trip.

Slightly altered but essentially the same, In blender: Lime, Rum, Ice, Peppermint Syrup (for sweetness and extra mint taste) topped with club soda and mint sprigs.

So Yummy!

mmmmm it worked for the Mojito, what else can I make a shlushy out of. Peering into my fridge, my eyes land on some recently purchased beer. Laughing, I figure, 'why not?' And so I try experimenting in creating a "Guinness Slushy"

Fresh cold bottle of Guinness Extra Stout
