Desks!

We got two beautiful solid wood desks and returns from Buffalo Business Interiors.

The warehouse is HUGE - just ridiculous numbers of identical chairs and desks. Each new giant room was another laugh. It was pretty overwhelming but we waded thru two floors of stuff and found three sets we liked. Well, two sets we both liked and one that I liked. We went with the nicest looking of the two. PartnerTBNL fell in love with a custom $12,000 desk that had been used and refinished and is now selling for $2,500. Oi. Of course, my dream desk is an antique oak one which I'm sure will cost a pretty penny as well.

We're waiting for internet connectivity. And the PartnerTBNL needs a chair.

Hungarian mushroom soup v2

In (e:heidi,55503) I made this Hungarian Mushroom Soup. I'm making it again, this time with the Hungarian half-sharp paprika and a selection of mushrooms. It's still brewing and it's already way better. I'm completely sold on the paprika. I had no idea it could have flavor. I thought it was just for coloring.

How old is your deer?

I think y'all need to know this.

I know that the PA Game Commission's budget is mostly derived from license sales but I'm feeling kinda bitter about it being able to have a flashy youtube site (see

) at the same time the state promised to fund the NPHS building project at 24.5% and is now only going to fund it at 21%, and the whole project is at risk because fucking Corbett is unwilling to tax the terribly destructive and polluting natural gas industry and has enacted even more programs and loopholes to give state taxpayer money away to corporations that are doing just fine on their own. Even all-day kindergarten is at risk! It's absurd! All the programs that Jill & I used to revive our town are gone, turned into handouts and tax breaks to big biz.

Office! Code blue

I got the keys to our office today! It's been painted a soft cream. They still need to scrub the rug and clean the windows. I'm so excited! Looking forward to the PartnerTBNL to get back and officially become my partner so we can move in for real! One of my PA clients framed my diploma so that will have wall space. The sky light outside office door provides even more natural light. It's gorgeous.

Also, Code Blue at Allen & North Pearl looks like it is ready to open.

Thanksgiving

The family had thanksgiving dinner today. After dinner, A and I took all six kids to see Puss in Boots at the historic Victoria Theatre. ($5 for adults, $3 for kids under 12 and two already had free passes for getting good grades so $28 for 8 people. Concessions are super cheap too.) Then we played Qwirkle. I know what I'm getting someone for xmas.
