So,

I have a friend.

She's really pretty. Olive skin, dark brown hair that flows in locks, eyes like pools of onyx.
She's a trained pianist. Loves great music.
Owns a house in a nice neighborhood. Has a decent job.
Likes to ride bikes. Sounds awesome right?

She's got faults too, but I don't want to point any of that out. Yet....

Ok, so this thing keeps happening to her where she starts dating a guy and not long after they decide to stop seeing her. It's always them that stop dating her... Lame.

I'm a good friend of hers at this point. I dated her before, in the past. And yes, I stopped seeing her too, so um.... here's my question to you (e:peep)'lz of the world.

She sometimes asks me, "Why does this keep happening to me?", and I feel like I must know, having had been a guy who did it and a person who watched it happened over and over, but what do I do?

Should I tell her what I think?
Should I ignore it and hope that someday someone will be a kind enough man to her to help her through this stuff
Really who do I know? Pfft!?

What do you think?

Let's not forget that this is a kids movie put out by Disney and a video game movie to boot...or maybe we can turn a blind eye to that and enjoy it as a unique historical fantasy action movie. Which ultimately i feel like it was.

This movie was a spectacle to behold. There was so much action that those who lack enough attention span for cohesive plot to develop won't be caught twiddling their thumbs. It suffers from that fractured feeling that non animated kids movies sometimes have, still it was alarming well glued. Something that's a bit of a feat of storytelling if you ask me. They managed to pack as much action and as little story in as possible and there was a pretty well rounded message and plot still. Unbeknownst to some this film was based on a video game and gamers are notorious for wanting more action less story so it might suit them well.

I think Jyllenhall does a great job delivering some really tacky one liners that couldn't be spun as funny or witty to most, which I think is a necessary evil when making a film that's supposed to entertain Sponge Bob fans who honestly laugh at knock knock jokes.

I saw it with a friend, and after 20 minutes I wished I had Mya next to me so that I could vicariously enjoy it as well as I should through her. Maybe I will take her if it's like playing at a double feature drive in or something.

All in all I give it a 4 1/2 stars out of 5. Losing 1/2 a star only because the jumpiness that losses adults could have been more cleverly placed, but still being a fun enough action film with killing that I wouldn't wanna cover my kids eyes during. Yes see this not Iron Man if you have littles.

Go see this film if you've got littles that like adventure. Or if you love adventure tales, or historical fiction and magic your self.

Ok, so tomorrow there's 0.75$ bowling at Classic Lanes, which if you're being thrifty is a cheep night out. Only thing cheaper is a date with me, so why not do both at once and really save aaaaand have a good time?

After several virtual machine crashes and download debacles I've finally gotten my phone updated.

The update makes the phone a bit faster, and slightly better organized, give you access to a few more kinds of apps (google navigation, finally!), and has some cool HTC Sense updates. All in all worth the hassle

I accidentally found out that the update was published while calling sprint about an MMS message error on my phone so I freaked out and was distracted all day trying to get it installed and I mean alllll day.

The estimated time to download the 118MB file was bout 3 hours the frist time I tried to get it, and my impatience and ignorace failed me when I decided to restart the download a few times. Soon the time crawled up to over 5 hours and then I started to get ludicrous estimates like 14 hours and 2 days. By the end of the day and this morning when I check last the traffic didn't seem to be slowing.

There have been hacks and cracks for the update for weeks. I know some Sprint employees and I'd seen the update running on his device 3 weeks ago which lead me to question why they were waiting so long to release it.

I had to go to sprint yesterday for my mom and I found out the reason why they were taking so long with the phone update is because they wanted to wait for the Sprint HTC EVO launch, but I bet the pitchforks and torches convinced them otherwise.

Now everyone's bustling to get the files and the internet is broken over there. I decided to be a good Samaritan and post it on my dropbox. i don't want a million emails, but if you message me on my twitter @enknot then I will add your email address so you can grab it. Takes a few minutes there.

Note about the update. You need windows to do it (unless you can find the rom nugget without the .exe installer), and don't try it from a virtual machine. I was using VM ware fusion 3 with windows XP and right after it deleted the firmware on the device the system crashes to the blue screen and locks when it tires to reboot (tried it twice made me crazy).

I have an xbox and xbox live, and it was previously set to auto renew. I needed to turn that off and after finding that there was very little ease to this process I decided that I should publish it some where: So here goes:

DOING IT ON XBOX.com
1. Log in to XBOX.com by clicking sign in at the very top of the page
2. Click marketplace at the top near forums and sign out
3. from the "My Account" drop down click membership level
4. On the summary page it'll tell you the kind of membership you have and list your renewal status. If it's on click Off
5. Forage through the two pages plus pages of marketing they have when you try to turn auto renewal off
6. finally check off in the radio box
7. read their weepy (so sorry you're gone) message and rejoice

I left a nasty comment about how dirty a deed it is that they hide and obfuscate common functions and settings from users and shove "pay for ???" in front of you at every turn.

I went to get my hair done yesterday after having had it done only a month prior; a little gift from Uncle Samuel. It's been looking a little ratty to me lately and I've been working on my appearance so it made sense.

I'd like to feel good enough about it to want to leave it uncovered all the time, but I feel like its been under wraps and hats for so long its never gonna look ok out in the open air.

I've also been gyming a lot lately. It makes me feel awesome and I think I've lost a lot of weight too. Megan used to hate it when I started loosing weight. I hated every day I was uncomfortable in my own body. After throwing away or putting into storage a ton of clothes I felt a clown from the 90's wouldn't wear I don't' think I can ever stop going to the gym. It's become a relaxing place to vent energies that I didn't know I had to vent, and it helps me obey Justin.

The girl who does my hair is an artist by lifestyle, and she lives in the artspace on main. There's always sweet stuff hanging up and I always steal a few shots. She does classes and exhibits in the open common areas when she needs to, and hair in her apt. it's a perfect place for any enterprising artist without a lot of capital. Her name is Aminiata (Erika Mitchell) and she teaches an African dance class that doubles as a drumming class that a friend of hers teaches.

Here's some shots of the artspace* and her. She does decent stuff, but she's very apprehensive to show it to anyone. Oh the pantings aren't her's, they're on display in the front hall. I imaging some artist is selling or showing them, but I don't know how anyone's going to see them behind locked doors....well besides right here.

There are a lot of people at work who are on the 8th floor (that's where all the wiggy wigs work, to quote a few) who's jobs are a grey fuzzy mess in my head. One of them, Ms. Dana Jenkins, is one of the Administrative board that seems to impress me every time I come in contact with her. I still don't know what her job is, but I like her. I like her a lot. I recently bumped into her at the gym and had the pleasure of introducing her to some friends of mine.

She keeps a blog that is "internal only" and that I'm the lead developer for it, but i like the things she has to say, and the imagery she uploads there too. She's an artist, and she paints water colors. The image in this blog is one from a blog she titled "Heroism, Boldness, Craziness, What Is It I'm Seeing In Vancouver?".

Almost every athlete, people at the very top of the top of their sport and their personal game, has talked about hard work as the key to their success. I've heard almost nothing about natural talent or good fortune (except in acknowledging the parents they were born to). Some have talked about planning to "peak" at the right time, more have talked about loving what they do, many have focused on performing better than they've ever performed before. As I listened I was so l glad to know that the kids who want to "be" Shaun or Apolo or Yuna Kim have heard that it takes dedication and commitment to achieve something great. But what is that underlying something that makes them do things the rest of us don't and achieve on a level that is rare. Are they bolder than the rest of us or just crazier?

I've also been thinking about everyday boldness. While less nightly-newsworthy, it takes a lot to believe in yourself everyday and to act on your convictions continuously, to step out of the background and be a frequent leader, to be the one who say "I will" rather than laugh at those who step up, to join with those who express optimism and a willingness to try rather than being a part of the pack that views them as the enemy. It's not easy to do this. I have seen people suffer because they've chosen a bold path. They certainly won't win every time but true boldness will find a way to try again. These people do things rather than talk about them. They find inspiration in others and are inspiring often without realizing it. I find them admirable.

I had this to say in response, but I didn't want to post it as a comment since I think the point of the blog is to be uplifting and motivational:

I really liked this blog Ms. Jenkins. It spoke directly to me. Not only do I like to snowboard, but it's been said from time to time that I am a bold person. It's a compliment that I enjoy quite a bit.

I think a lot of people will read this blog and identify with it greatly, but it seems that a very key element of the process isn't presented that has been haunting me lately. Boldness gone bad. Failure. Rejection. Regret. Remorse. The things that follow when boldness doesn't serve you.

I've noticed the emotional outcome of attempts like this cripple some into a life long lull, or force them to shift their perceptions of the world around to protect them selves from more of the same and as a result become less bold. I've seen many great people who live inside their own heads and scoff at the outside world for not understanding or not being ready for the greatness they have to offer. Luckily, liviing that way scares me more than failing, or else I think I'd be in a very different place...

Failure dosen't seem to stop him...


I guess I have more to say on this topic, but it's gone on long enough. Maybe I'll post a part two...
