Let me quickly recap my far too brief visit to Boston. I drove out on Thursday afternoon. I’m master road tripper so the 8 hour drive was nothing new, a little lonely, but no big deal. I’ve driven from Buffalo to Mexico all by myself. Now that is a lonely drive. So, here are a few photos of my visit.

team nothingness

I just played my first full-on game of soccer in 6 years and I’m whipped! Boy howdy! Of course, at the beginning of the day I thought I was playing short-court indoor. As it turns out, it was actually half-field outdoor! Can you say unprepared? It wasn’t freezing out, but it was most certainly chilly, and I brought shorts of course. Next week I’ll know to bring a headband so my ears won’t hurt. The nice part was that we played on super cushy astro-turf; nice-n-easy on the joints! That is, until you have the prime opportunity to even up the score playing forward, get mobbed by 3 guys, and fall on your ass trying to shift your momentum and make the shot. The hips don’t like me so much right now. I stood in the shower an awful long time trying to massage the pain away.

What I should be doing:
1. Re-writing a journal review (due last week) which was on my jump drive that I lost.
2. Reading 123 pages of textbook bore.
3. Defending a position on spirituality in student development.
4. Reading 2 novels for which I have to write 10 page reviews, each.
5. Writing a 5 page documentary reflection on what it means to be free in America.

What I am doing instead:
1. Falling asleep while attempting the first item on my list, complete with drool seeping from the corner of my mouth.
2. Engaging in an act of futility- trying to satisfy my hunger. I have incurred an insatiable appetite from the moment I walked through (e:Lilho)’s door Friday night. I cannot stop eating; I’m hungry like the wolf!
3. Thinking about how I’m going to get to class tomorrow with ‘Aqua Mouse’ (my car) being in such dire condition.
4. Talking on the phone with my partner in crime (e:Theecarey). Gag, puke, barf; make it go away!
5. Fretting about my Halloween costume details.
6. Questioning my how I’m going to load more songs onto my ipod before I leave for Boston this Thursday morning.
7. Writing this post.
8. Wondering who talked me into performing 1 handed twisty taekwondo push-ups at (e:Lilho)’s party, because I’m so incredibly sore right now.
9. Wondering when I’ll have time to hang out with (e:Terry) to knit scarves.
10. Considering the strong possibility that I have adult ADD and a hearing loss, or at least some serious wax build up.

bambi is blessed

I brought Bambi down to Hilbert College so she could attend the pet blessing. I’m not Catholic, but I thought it would be nice. What does it mean to bless a pet? I don’t really know. I just love her so much and I thought it would be something new and different. Plus she got to woof at a few bigger dogs; she has no concept of her size. I love that about her. She’s such a great protector. So, here are a few photos of her special day.

After leaving Hardware I think we tried to check out Warehaus but it was already closed so we ended up at the Opium Lounge. I really like that place; the music is always kickin. My friend David totally schooled (e:Paul), (e:Terry) and myself in a game of pool. Then some random guy challenged him, and he schooled him too. David may become an (e:strip)per yet, the jury is still out.

I saw The Exorcism of Emily Rose at the gonorrhea mall in Cheektovegas. Check out (e:Jason)’s post for the true history behind the film. [inlink]jason,258[/inlink] There were a few moments that made me jump, and in the moments that didn’t, I yelled out “Boogedy Boo” real loud and made everyone else jump. So it wasn’t a thriller, but I liked the idea of debating spirituality and science in the courtroom. It was thought provoking.

I had a quick and tasty dinner at the Falafel Bar on Elmwood. They had a fantabulous pumpkin and chickpea soup which I promptly devoured. Then we headed downtown. Let’s just say Friday nights at Quote are dull. But I’m not complaining, drinks were $1 and we got to meet (e:strip)’s newest addition, (e:sbruggers)!

I ended up downing an Irish Car Bomb (you drop a shot of something? into a Guinness) and I’m pretty sure I have (e:sbrugger) to thank for that. I also had the pleasure of meeting (e:Tina) for the first time! Yay! Once the $1 drinks were over we headed over to Hardware. I really like the colour of the walls in there.

a night in the life

Last night I should have been doing homework. If it weren’t the most juvenile assignment in the history of grad school I would have completed it already. Instead of doing it I went out. Not to party, just to hang with some peeps. I’ve taken a few photos to share a night in the life of (e:Ladycroft).

The night started off at Panos. (e:Theecarey) was thoroughly enjoying her pickle.

I was a starvin’ marvin in a cranky anti-boy mood, so I viciously attacked my delicious spanikopita.

(e:Alison) had sinus issues and couldn’t taste her food so she just crammed the fries in for texture.

Next thing I know a fry walloped me in the boob and a short lived food fight ensued.

When we finished our delectable dinner Aqua Mouse, my superhero car, transported us to (e:Leetee) and (e:Uncutsaniflush)’s house. (e:Theecarey) and (e:Alison) had never been so we were graciously taken on a tour.

First we have (e:Leetee) and (e:Uncutsaniflush) striking the pose of their marriage photo. Everyone say it with me, awwwwwwww. You guys are awesome together.

I took this photo for (e:Jason).

I still maintain that the attic is the gem of the house. I would be so content to live up there. There is something about a bare bulb hanging in a room that inspires me. Plus, who can deny the hip factor of that wallpaper?

I had a staff meeting with my RA’s last week. Look what they wrote on my fridge.

Yesterday afternoon it was my privilege to meet another (e:peep). You’ve all read his stuff; you’ve probably exchanged a few words with him on freedom chat. It’s the one, the only……(e:Metalpeter)! We chilled for a few hours outside Spot. You’re a cool guy Peter, it was a pleasure to meet you at last!

Last night I had to be a judge at the ‘Mr. Hilbert’ pageant. There a few moments worth mentioning and a few photos worth sharing. In the talent portion one boy did a pretty fly break dance sequence. That’s something I really wish I could do. I can dance, I’ve got rhythm, but I can’t flip a pose on my hands and I think it would be sweet if I could.

Also in the talent portion one boy did a rhythmic ribbon dance. This really got the crowd going. Just imagine the image below progressing to the tune “Chariots of Fire” by Vangelis. It was a riot.

During the pajama portion I was greeted by a boy in a black robe and pink slippers and invited to pet his puppy dog. Ha-ha. It made me miss my little Bambi so much. Of course I miss my little Twigers too.

At the end of the night came the question and answer portion. Most were uneventful, but one is worth repeating. A contestant was presented with the following question. ‘What is your best pick up line?’ His answer was, ‘What has 175 teeth and holds back the Incredible Hulk?….my zipper!’ I have to say I laughed pretty hard.
Lastly, I just have to say, I kicked another (e:peep)’s ass at Mario Kart.

Yah, that’s (e:Jason)’s ass and I kicked it, hard! Ha-ha! Ok, so I let him win a few races, but I always pull off the trophy in the end. I am the champion! Ciao.
