Never pong with the Mickelsons

I had a cold for a good chunk of the vacation. So I was taking sudafed to help unstuff me for a bit.

When I played some disastorous beer pong with the Mickelson clan, I failed realize how crazy it get. (e:xandra) has a pretty weird video of me.

Up, up and away

Despite the craziness of a broken discount plane and a pathological liar we experienced last Friday that (e:Paul) wrote about, we got off safely on Saturday.

I haven't been on a plane in 12 years, also to Florida, so it was a cool experience. The carbon footprint makes me cringe but I guess I don't do it often? Not good.

Anyway it was kind of like riding in a Greyhound, just louder and no Amish smells. The view when you take off and land is nice too. it reminds me of SimCity seeing all the neat little rows of farms and roads and towns.

My favorite transportation is still bike then Amtrak.

Zoar Valley floating

We went down to Zoar with (e:uchina) and (e:yesthatcasey) so we could float down the river. The rapids were crazy fun and weather was pretty good.

Masumi flipped once but other than that no casualties don't the rocks.

weird walmart

Paul dragged me to Walmart to get some rafts for our Zoar trip. Its so terrible but you do see some weird junk. Like this family full of Stinkys, or this "I wish I was a princess" mirror that makes you look fat. Or a machete, in case you forgot yours and you are in a pinch.

Haircuts for trees

(E:Paul) took the buch at the corner of our house and shaped it into a tree by tying it together with twine. Combined with the hacking we did on the holly bush, the front of our hose is naked now. It's strange to see the stone underneath the windows now.

Bike therapy

after being subjected to the worst movie ever, I had a therapeutic bike ride with (e:yesthatcasey) and (e:terry). We rode around for a while until we got to Tifft.

Later I went over to the bike jaunt quest post party at the coop house. I'll have to make the ride next year. The karaoke was pretty bad but the party was fun. I ended up hanging out with Claudia and Marcus at Don Tequila before I ran into (e:flacidness) at Cathode.

Never seeing a movie again

A couple weeks ago (yes I am behind) we went to the movies with (e:uchina) and (e:yesthatcasey) on a beautiful spring day. We went to see Mad Max at the Galleria.

I don't know why we didn't watch the trailer or look up what it was about before but its had me decide I am never going to the movies again.

The movie was freaking terrible. it had essentially no real plot. An hour and a half of disgusting macho car culture bullshit. All of it consisted of was screaming, shooting and explosions on trucks and engines that I assume were supposed to look awesome but seriously stressed me out. Not to mention that (e:Paul) and I noticed this weird islamophobic theme to the whole thing. An oppressive desert culture running off oil, with brainwashed soldiers blowing themselves up against freedom fighters for some promised afterlife? If that's not propaganda I don't know what is.

The worst part about the movie was just when you thought it was over, the characters double back and repeats the past 45 minutes. I want my $15 bucks back.

Buffalo bike plan

(e:terry) and I went down to the library for the presentation of the final city bike plan. The plan is pretty good (they even have protected lanes designated all the way down Main, and separated lanes going from the Buff State path to the city line) if they can actually manage to implement it.

After we rode with the Black Rock rollers like a block (lol) to Big Ditch and Electric Aveneue. There was a drum'n'bass night starting but we left Thankfully we got to do a real ride to the park and then our to house. (e:yesthatcasey) came over to get spanked.

I really like riding with that group - maybe I'll make it out of work earlier to ride with them.

You can view the plan here:

Night rides

(e:paul) and I have been taking a lot of slow rides at night lately. It's usually a perfect temperature. No one is on the road. And at Paul's preferred pace we could ride forever, chilling and talking brogramming.

On these rides he discovered maple water - water tapped out of maple trees with a slightly sweet taste. How boug!

Down at canalside they have these weird glowy men. It's cool how many people just end up hanging out there at night. How many places in Buffalo are almost occupied 24 hours a day now?
