Downtown walk with e:Mike
Down to canalside
And over to the Irish Famine memorial, in the Synacor parking lot
And over to the railroad tracks.
This section used to be double tracked but they removed them about 10 years ago. I wonder what used to be in that concrete bunker? Paul thinks it's a station because there's windows and stairs down to it.
Keine Selfies im Gleis!
The tracks make a convienent dumping ground.

The Witch
It was mostly about a 1630's farming family in America being tortured by some witch in the woods. There was a little too much Jesus praying in the movie for me, but I guess if you're going to have a Satan-goat worshipping witch you need something to counter it with.
It made me appreciate not living in colonial America. It also reminded me of what I think brushwood ladies would love to live out.

Never seeing a movie again
I don't know why we didn't watch the trailer or look up what it was about before but its had me decide I am never going to the movies again.
The movie was freaking terrible. it had essentially no real plot. An hour and a half of disgusting macho car culture bullshit. All of it consisted of was screaming, shooting and explosions on trucks and engines that I assume were supposed to look awesome but seriously stressed me out. Not to mention that (e:Paul) and I noticed this weird islamophobic theme to the whole thing. An oppressive desert culture running off oil, with brainwashed soldiers blowing themselves up against freedom fighters for some promised afterlife? If that's not propaganda I don't know what is.
The worst part about the movie was just when you thought it was over, the characters double back and repeats the past 45 minutes. I want my $15 bucks back.

Christine F.
I only knew about it because of clips of it were in a music video for "Drugs in my Body" by theives like us. If you watch that, you'd think it's a movie about crazy kids in Berlin on drugs having fun.
No. Not at all.
It had to have been the most terrifying and depressing movie I've ever seen. I guess it's a good movie if you enjoy heroin addiction, neglected children living in train stations, David Bowie and prostitution. Spoiler alert, you get to watch a 14 year old girl with the shakes throw up over her prostitute boyfriend as he snorts heroin. All of the fun parts in the video take place in the first 5 minutes and it's all downhill from there. There wasn't even anyone cute in whole movie. I guess it makes a good dare PSA.
At least I got to practice Deutsch.

Robert's BDay and Ladies of Amsterdam
We also watched this movie called "The Ladies of Amsterdam". it was about these two old twin women in Amsterdam who were prostitutes in the red light district. It was crazy, they actually recently officially retired at 70 but one still had about 10 clients a day near the end. They were kind of pioneers in that they were some of the first to break away from pimps, and set up sex worker unions. Not sure if they were ever lookers but I have to give them props for sticking to it.
Can't say I ever want to be with a creampuffy grandma while she sings "Wheels on the bus" though.

Wolf of Wall Street
The movie itself was well made. Leo was an amazing actor and the plot itself was ridic. I don't think the movie ended well because it glamorized them a bunch, but I guess they got off pretty easy in real life too, right? They even freaking put Jordan Belfort in the movie. It's so messed up that you can fraud and cheat, and then sell the story and have a movie made about it. They even advertise his motivational speaking company at the end, as if he is somehow redeemed.
Afterwards and the whole next day, I felt so repulsed by the movie. Not just by how disgusting and corrupt the characters in the movie were, but how much I worry about money. Obviously our motivations are different (doing coke in a Ferrari vs paying student loans) but I still feel so disgusted by any sort of greed. I have everything I could ever want or need, so money should be the last thing on my mind. It feels so selfish and I hate our cultural obsession with it.

Gravity
I hadn't been to an imax movie in a while but the tickets were outrageous at 16 bucks each. The movie itself was alright plot wise, filled with bad science but I was just being a nerd. The 3D was amazing, the satellite debris looked like it was flying right at you enough that I was flinching. We sat so close to the screen that you actually had to turn to see things, including the Sandra Bullock's costars, Sandra Bullock's badonk and legs.
Pretty beastly for 50.
There also was an ad in the hallway for a movie called Black Nativity. Straight to the point I guess?
