Thanksgiving week

The house was very full for Thanksgiving week. (e:hodown) came and visited us from her globetrotting travels, and was with us the week before.

We went with (e:mike) for a crazy night at the wine bar at Main. (e:hodown) found a new ping pong buddy.

Then (e:terry)'s family came into town the Tuesday before. Altogether we had 9 people in the house which was the most ever. The Mickelson's got to pingpong, (e:paul) got to teach unicycling, and we took the family to the botanical gardens and parking lot christmas market on South Park.

Props to my brother

Serious props to my brother, who organized a drive to furnish an apartment for a Syrian refugee family. He managed to furnish the entire apartment with donated furniture, a full kitchen, bedrooms, pantry, living room and electronics.

The furniture and rest of the donated stuff was nice quality and even matched. I know it seems silly but I have to think moving into a complete apartment like that has to make it slightly easier to adjust to a new county thousands of miles away from home.

Thanksgiving

For Thanksgiving, (e:terry) came with me for the first round to my parents. I didn't really take too many pictures.

Here's the crumbly falafel turkey with veggie stuffing my mom made us. It lost it's turkey shape.

My mom has gone full 90's mom. It looks like she could be in on a alt 90s band cover.

I can't count how many pictures we've taken in this spot now.

Afterwards we headed over to (e:paul)'s parents' to make our stomachs explode and play catchphrase.

Did you know they sell militarized My Little Pony dolls now? A pony named cheese sandwich has a "party tank".
I always thought Equestria needed an armed conflict.

Rehersal dinner

We had a bunch of people over for (e:mike) and (e:libertad)'s bachelor party. I spent the whole day cleaning up the house but it was worth it, the eggplant parm from the Como was tasty.

Early mothers day at e:mike and e:libertad

We did mother's day early for Paul's mom since (e:mike) and (e:libertad) aren't here for this Sunday. We went to some seafoody restaurant in Hamburg called Lucia's on the lake.

I got to see some of the many napkin holders Mike and Dave bought.

And eat these amazing ice cream sandwiches (e:libertad) made.

and spent an hour talking about how we're all gonna die.

Dinner at Mike and Dave's

Saturday has the obligatory farmers market pictures - all these jona gold apples for $8, onions and cabbage heads for $2 each, and a huge delicious bag of sweet winter carrots for $4.

Later we headed over to a family dinner at (e:mike) and (e:libertad)'s with (e:paul)'s family including (e:czarkasm). Somehow I only got a picture of the food but it was a good time. Everyone took a shot at (e:libertad)'s wooden "nose in the hole" game.

Latvian family dinner

Really Lebanese but (e:paul) and (e:terry) refer to it as Latvian.

Most of the dishes had beef in them (one of the dishes they eat is raw beef ::barf::) but the tabouleh and spinach pies were amazing.
