Bike season

I am so out of biking shape ;(. Bike butt has been obliterated and replaced with one of a programmer. Now that the roads are ice free I'm back on it and I am in love all over again.

I don't care if it's still cold I'm trying to ride every day now. No way am I going to be slow on a bike this summer.

Broadway Market with Masumi

The morning after we headed out to the Broadway market with (e:uchina). It was pretty bumpin. A lot of the food seemed good but a there was a whole bunch of grandmay knick knacks. Signs telling you to stay out of "mom's cave" etc. We got some treats and really amazing tangelos that were a fifth of the coop price.

The highlight was seeing my old boss there with his family. I actually forgot his name and somehow (e:terry) remembered later. He told me knew I would land on my feet after I left right after I left. I don't know why but it felt good - probably because I love my new job a million times more.

I never knew butter lambs came in two poses - head-turned and straight-face. I think the head turned is way cuter. That's a lot of freaking butter though

Two creepy rabbits, one swallowing (e:paul). It kind of reminds me of the Jones Pond furry.

Dirty dancing

We went to the Igloo warehouse rave with (e:uchina). Thankfully there was no starer this time.

It was still fun but definitely not as crazy as the last one. House music isn't really my thing - no drum and bass second story like before. I still got a ton of dancing in, just more work.

Maybe we should have gone crazier because this time we saw how disgusting the warehouse was. From the Union Carbide barrels warning of formladehyde ((e:paul,59916)) to the mysterious floor goop, to the chain-smokestacks I felt like we were going to end up with black lung.

Third world buffalo

We went with (e:uchina) to brunch at Panos. On the way in, we noticed Elmwood smelled like sewage, which is nothing new. On the way out we noticed their rain gardens and sewer intakes were literally spitting out sewage all over the street. notice the toilet paper.

St Patrick's Day parade

It got cray this year.

Breakfast of crazy tea and Flower Power. It's a classier Four Loko. I think it made a difference in me staying up for the whole day this time.

Everyone came over. (e:heidi) and (e:dianne) saved the day with some breakfast food for everyone.

My favorite part was the vuzulvea beer funnel at the parade. (e:flacidness), you tried your best.

Buffalo bike party

Our first bike ride of year was the Buffalo bike party. We went with (e:keitht) - it started at Colonial. went down to Founding Father's, MLK Park, and then a fried food party.

We broke away for a while to stop at Mohawk place for infringement. We ended up seeing (e:czarkasm) there.

The ride was short and not too amazing but we met a few cool new people (besides the ride leader who litters cigarette packets). I can't wait for warmer days where people aren't waiting to go inside and the rides go on forever.

Fried oreos are delicious and gross as hell.

Buffalo Uncovered

It's finally getting warm out just in time for St. Patrick's day. I have spring fever.

Brownies for Paul

(e:paul) wanted brownies the other day but we didn't have any baking chocolate. So I found a recipe that just uses unsweetened cocoa powder and a metric ton of butter to make up for the lack of cocoa butter.

Mom blog recipe here

They turned out really gooey and delicious especially when salted. The pictures of them came out looking a little shitty (hah) but they're still good. lately I feel so rushed I don't even care if the pictures come out alright.

Tricked by the coop

We got completely greenwashed at the coop. We bought this sponge in a rush at the coop and somehow thought it was made of natural material. I remember talking about it in the aisle with (e:paul) wondering what it could have been made of. It turns out it's just a regular sponge, just with "Nature" on the package.

The "Natural Value" scrubbers are made of "tough fibers and abrasives" which I take means plastic since they point out the sponges are cellulose (so are 3Ms, so I assume they're all from the same factories).

I can't believe I fell for it. I really hate all greenwashed marketing, especially for packaged stuff like this. It isn't even good at it. Usually it'd be a regular plastic brillo pad wrapped in brown paper to give it an "earthy" feel, called "Bob's Sea Sponge" , with maybe a GMO and Gluten free label on it. On the back would be a folksy story about how Bob's Natural Sponges loves his artisian sponges, and how he feels about urban farming or kale or something. I really think I could be a marketer.
